I agree. With the original cast now gone, it's like they have no clue where to go with the stories. The movies they are putting out are kind of pointless and repetitive and it's time to lay this franchise to rest.

And the guy who directed TLJ will be on board for more. No thanks, man.
Last night I took my niece and nephew to go see Avengers: Infinity War. It was fantastic! Everything I wanted in a movie. It was full of action, it was funny, it had some emotional moments and the ending left me wanting more. This film certainly lived up to the expectations. I'm not going to say anything to spoil any parts of the movie, but I know I was kinda shocked at how some things played out. If you are a fan of the Marvel Universe, this is one you gotta see this movie. I'll probably go back and watch it again.

I can't wait to see this! I'm avoiding everything that can possibly be considered spoiler bait. I don't want to know anything until I watch it. My hysband? He doesn't care if he's spoiled or not. Blasphemy!!

I was the same way. I avoided news articles, Youtube reviews or any other thing that might spoil any part of the film. We went on a Tuesday at 6:10 p.m. and I ordered the tickets a day in advance. The theatre was sold out, so it was a good thing we did get the tickets in advance. If you are going to see the movie anytime soon, I recommend doing this. The day before we went, every showing was sold out. It shows no sign of letting up either. I don't even live in a big city. The theatre I went to was well outside of the Cincinnati area in a more suburban setting.
Out of recent releases, I enjoyed "A Quiet Place" quite a bit. Saw "Black Panther" recently as well, thought it was OK, but I don't really get into superhero movies all that much.

I know it's been out a couple of years on streaming services now, but "What We Do in the Shadows" is a great quirky movie if you haven't seen it yet.
I was upset when someone spoiled to me that Batman dies. I guess that frees up time for Affleck to find his next ex-wife.

Huh? In what film did this supposedly happen? I think you might have gotten some bad information.

I'm actually just seeing this thread as I forgot about it for quite a while.

Thanks for the good recommendations ..... I'm always flicking around trying to determine what to watch so I'm going to hit Logan Lucky tonight and then venture over to Gifted and some others throughout the next few weeks.  I usually rely on Rotten Tomato reviews but that doesn't always work out so well.

i concur. I even watched it a second time when my husband decided he wanted to catch it on Netflix.

I rented 12 Strong today from Redbox and plan to watch it tonight.
If you liked Wind River, try and watch Hell or High Water. Taylor Sheridan movies are awesome, not a lot of action and popcorn stuff, but the characters and storyline (and the music score) keep you engaged throughout the movie.

Just came back from seeing this and I am emotionally spent. What a movie. I was a bit disconcerted by everything going on and I don't fault how the movie was made, it's just a lot of characters and a lot of story needed to be told. I kept thinking how it should have played out over 13 episodes like Netflix's Marvel shows.

The end felt like the end of Lord of the Rings. Not storyline-wise obviously, but how it felt like it ended right in the middle of everything which makes you want more so you see how it all land out. Thanos is one bad dude. Man. Just bad. Like Negan bashing in Glenn's and Abraham's heads kind of bad.

Edited to add:
Also, I found much humor with the giant dwarf. I am not a comic reader so I have no clue of the characters place in the story, but I just thought it funny. Like the movies where the BIG guy is named Tiny. It took me a minute to recognize the actor. It was actually his voice that have it away.

I can't say the movie lived up to the hype because I'm not subjected to commercials on tv and don't follow movies and actors in social media, but I did have ideas/hopes/expectations based on the trailers I saw on IMDB or youtube. I'm not sure that it met my expectations. With so many "main" characters to give screen/storyline time to, it's hard to really enjoy the time they have. I did just read where this is part one of Infinity Wars, which comes out next year, so the ending makes more sense.

It wasn't just here and there... it was through the whole. thing.  The dialog while Thor was spinning while hanging from the chain started the eye rolls and groans and they just kept coming.

I believe it was done on purpose that way.
I remember reading prior to it coming out they were trying to sell it as an intergalactic buddy (bro) film.

I found myself very distracted throughout the movie checking Twitter and such.
IMO... The first Thor was great and each sequel slid a bit for me.

"Oh hold on... I'm not facing you... just a moment"
yeah that was bad.

So far Civil War was my favorite Marvel flick. I've seen em all minus Black Panther.
1. Civil War
2. Winter Solider
3. Avengers
4. GotG

Many of the Marvel sequels outside of the Cap franchise have left a little something to be desired in my opinion. (i.e. not living up to the predecessors entertainment and awe)

I finally finished watching Ragnarok this week.  I agree with your assessment... the sequels kept sliding away from what made the first the best.

Smooth out some of the joking and take out the "jump the zeppelin" use of "Immigrant Song" and I would have liked it better.  Shrek 3 nailed use of the Immigrant Song.  "Hammer of the gods..." yeah, I get the reference, but if another movie did it better, then another movie did it better- so don't do it.  It came off really, really cliche'.  Especially when they went to the well twice with it.

To each their own, but the battle scene with Zeppelin playing immigrant song in the background, was my favorite part of Thor: Ragnarok. I don't even remember it being used in Shrek 3, but I do remember that movie being the weakest in the Shrek series. On a side note though, if you like Shrek, they are working on a new Shrek film. It's due out sometime in 2019. Personally, I found that news quite surprising. I thought they ended the series quite well, but I'll still watch the new film.
I saw a quiet place. I wanted my money and time back.

Wow really? I enjoyed it. Although... I could see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Saw this recently. It was really good.
