Agreed Bullseye. I think the DL is the deepest position on the team, and this thrills me because it makes me believe we can win the LOS consistently.

The only weak positions left, to me, are OL and LB. We don't have great depth at LB, but the starting three will be very talented and a major improvement over last season with the addition of Jack.

I agree with this assessment completely.

Our starting 3 at LB, assuming Jack is playing outside, is good. Depth, not so much, even if Jack is the nickel back and backup Mike.

OL is by far the biggest concern on the team.

@john_higg You shouldn't be. He's throwing to a lot of WRs who won't be here next month and going against a better D.

I remember debating people on this board who attacked Bradley for not producing anywhere close to a competent defense-his specialty. I pointed out that the offense made substantial strides because of the significant infusion of talent on that side of the ball in the 2014 draft. I said at the time we needed a defensive equivalent of the 2014 draft to see a similar jump on that side of the ball. Little did I imagine that we'd possibly get it.

It boggles the mind to consider the possibilities.

For instance, what do you think our best pass rushing line is?

Fowler, Day, Jackson, Ngakoue or

Fowler Day, Davis, Ngakoue; or

Fowler Davis, Jackson, Ngakoue; or

Fowler Marks, Day, Ngakoue, etc.

The fastest starting 11?

There was actually some chatter about Day earning time with the ones. I seem to recall even Senderrick Marks saying that.

Can you imagine if Day wound up a day 1 starter next to Jackson-and not due to injury?!?

I think right now it would be Ngakoue, Marks, Jackson, Fowler.

Yeah, that's probably your "lightning" package. ^

Agreed. The DL is starting to have the feel that the WRs had. Terrible for so long and then all of a sudden talent and depth. It's hard to know how to feel about it. Just 2 years ago (and even last year) Marks was by far our best lineman. Now he's 3rd, maybe even 4th.

I always thought the lightning package had a DE-usually Davis-playing inside on passing downs.

Davis played inside on those downs often, but they mixed it up.

None of it matters too much to me as long as they take advantage of all the fresh legs they can rotate in this year at DT.

The packages will sort themselves out, but I really do like the idea of Marks and Jackson out there together occasionally somehow.

What's the thunder package?

Odrick marks miller malik
So so so so excited for next week. Can't wait to see how well this camp translates to a live game situation.

Good point! And he's a good player still! This roster finally has depth and good depth at that.

With Colvin, Prince, House, Ramsey, Gipson and as the DBs and probably Jack and Smith at LB

Fastest, most talented 11... imo

This of course makes it some sort of hybrid dime/nickel

But this is great for 3 wide and a TE, like the Pats use a lot with Gronk out wide and the other TE on the line.

also works for 4 wide sets...

all those 3rd and longs we got burned for... I think they'll be able to stop much more often now with the talent ability these guys have.

OF COURSE, they have to produce live....
Any word on who isn't playing or too early?
Ngakoue, Marks, Jackson, Fowler

Colvin, Prince, House, Ramsey, Gipson and as the DBs and Jack and Smith LB's

Holy cow......quarterbacks would probably surrender and audible into a draw.

That is a lot of speed on the field.
