Quote:Most scouting reports mention that he struggled out of shotgun and has issues with scheme fit, lateral agility, vision, blocking, and receiving. What I don't get how people admit to all of that and still think it's a slam dunk he dominates at the NFL level.
And yet, when I watched that video someone provided in another thread, titled something like "All of Fournette's Runs From the Shotgun," which was supposed to prove he couldn't run out of the shotgun, I thought he looked great.
Classic case of draft fatigue. If we were drafting 1 overall, some of you would be nit-picking Garrett and saying you want Derek Barnett instead because he had 32 career sacks versus Garrett's 31 so he is clearly the better pass rusher...
Quote:Bingo. Fournette, Howard, Thomas, Allen.... I don't care who it is as long as they produce like a #4 pick and help take this team to the playoffs.
The board will take care of itself.
There are enough knowledgeable, sharp, and opinionated people on this board with long memories that if someone is outspoken and takes a stance that is ultimately wrong, the board will let them know about it.
But I need this team to have some all time great drafts, and have coaches that can develop that talent and get them to play effectively as a team to dominate all others to win some of those big, shiny Lombardi trophies and those gaudy rings to go along with them.
Quote:I thought RBs were supposed to hit obvious holes.
Besides, there have been plenty of great RBs that weren't cutback guys.
Eddie George, Earl Campell, Eric Dickerson, Jerome Bettis, Gerald Riggs, Bo Jackson and many others had great careers without being great cutback guys.
Of course. What I mean to say is that he seems to takes that one or attempts to create it. I'm not knocking him for taking what he should but that he usually doesn't seem to find any other holes if there isn't an obvious one.

I don't care whom we draft, we have to improve our blocking. Barry Sanders is about the only guy I remember who could gain yards without getting any decent blocking.

This is why I can't wait until we're drafting late instead of early.
That would mean the team has become good.
And hopefully, the amateur draftnicks and TwitterScoutsTM not so insufferable.
Quote:As long as the Jaguars get the picks right, that's all that matters to me at the end of the day.
This is all anyone cares about. As much as I hope they pass on RB at 4 if they do I hope he turns into a beast and manages to defy the odds with career length and health.
Quote:I may disagree with KY on this particular topic, but I don't knock anyone for offering their opinion and having the guts to take a stand on a player, even if it goes against conventional wisdom.
Heck, with all of the scouting teams do, they still get it wrong...even the great teams. It's far from an exact science.
KY may even ultimately prove right in this debate.
As long as the Jaguars get the picks right, that's all that matters to me at the end of the day.
You're absolutely right. All of us having differing opinions is what makes this board work so well. If we all agreed there wouldn't be much to talk about. I think the reason I get on him so much, is not for his differing opinion, but the way he goes about it. He acts like he's the smartest guy in the room and that nobody has a clue if they don't agree with his analysis.
Odds are being the second highest rated RB behind Ezekiel Elliot in recent times, things will probably work out for him. He doesn't need a TwitterScoutTM blessing... which certainly didn't help a guy like Bridgewater become something he never was.

Yeah I remember you saying my schtick was getting old. I guess I know how you became so good at identifying one.
Y'all can have fun amongst yourselves for a while, I'll be back here or elsewhere when we get the pro day numbers.

Stop being a drama queen.
If you wanna post, then post. If not, then don't. It's that simple.

I'm leaving! And I'm not coming back until I think of something else to say!
He weighed in at 228 today. I'm curious what that will do for his numbers.

I wonder why he was 241 or so at the combine, and why he's 228 now.

Maybe he wasn't working out as hard due to his ankle problems? Not sure.

I was wondering if it was an injury or did he simply not stay in shape, or if there was some other objective he wanted to meet then or now.
I would think if the 13 lbs or so gets him into the sub 4.5 range, it will be worth it.

I'd guess the latter. Maybe he wants to show teams what he can do at both weights.

Duh... "water weight." Must have been that time of the month.
Then again, if he was over-hydrated, wouldn't he have had a 'positive' drug test because of a diluted sample?
His explanation at the combine didn't made make much sense to me... I kind of felt like maybe he didn't train much for the combine, but he still ran fast. No harm, no foul I guess.
When I heard his weight and saw him at the combine, I wasn't thinking he was out of shape. My reaction was that he added too much weight working out/preparing for the combine. I took it as overworking, not underworking. He didn't look out of shape to me, he looked to have bulked up (not bulked out.)
