Quote:No, u misunderstand. I agree with your position and thats the way it should be in a free society.

I also recognize that the trajectory of the state as an impliment of the left indicates that there is very little real opposition to micro managong tge private sector to advance their social aims.

Yeah I misunderstood your stance lol. I was trying to figure out how a conservative could possibly want this decided by the state.
Quote:Public buildings sure it has to make a choice if they choose something I don't like I just won't use the bathroom at public facilities.

This is such a non-issue but conservatives tend to get sidetracked on theses "culture" issues
I would normally agree with you. Example, if you go to a place of business that doesn't suit your taste for whatever reason in the world, feel free to go somewhere else without incident. I would. But this is where I draw a line for reasons I've already stated. I just can't see how it's okay to allow young kids to be subjected to things they don't understand in this manner. And how are parents to explain it? I just can't go there in my head.

Kids don't understand most things and they seem to get by fine.

If I go somewhere and it's a uni-sex bathroom I don't let my kids use the bathroom there.

That said in 30 years I've never ran into a transgender in a men's bathroom and I've used the public bathroom thousands of times I'm sure.

This issue is literally creating hypothetical to condition people into accepting government control either for or against an issue when the real solution is as simple as private property rights.

For public owned areas how hard is to have a male, female, and then uni-sex facility? Transgender individuals can use the uni-sex or their default plumbing bathroom problem solved.
So now you want them to build a 3rd bathroom? Seems a bit pointless for a non issue.

May require a toilet tax. Or just let transgender folk pee where they want and stop stressing
Quote:What the hell is it with you? You're not even 50 yet, as I recall. You're part of Gen X--not too far removed from the millennials you so detest. Guess what, Grandpa: if millennials are soft, weak, pathetic little squishy balls of dough, the failure to raise them properly rests with you guys. You're the idiots who gave them participation trophies and shielded them from failure. Why don't you man up and admit it: millennials suck because Gen X is full of terrible parents.
Lol, this was a good point, I actually blame Baby boomers tho. They started all this and then Gen X + Millenials took it too completion. Sometimes you figure out that when your taking it to 'the man' that your actually screwing yourself because you become 'the man' .
Quote:You'll never see me lining up with libtards complaining about how everything should be free and life should be fair, but there's a gray area that you refuse to acknowledge. Maybe for you, the concept of being "offended" is a joke. Believe it or not, I'm pretty hard to really tick off these days, as we've discussed before. But I completely recognize that emotions are gonna do what emotions do. This is just the first generation that hasn't set out with an overwhelming mentality that emotions are bad, and it's hard for plenty of people to accept. Rejecting entire points of view simply because your own feelings aren't hurt doesn't diminish the feelings of others. If it's stupid, like "Trump" markings offending people, then they need to be told that sometimes in life, you've just gotta let it go. But a racially-charged message--and yes, a hostile message that is targeted specifically at people of a certain nationality is racially charged, is worth discussing.

I gotta tell you, you are impossible to read. Your comments consistently fall in line what what the dying shell of the GOP would say, your methods of marginalizing and demeaning those you disagree with puts you on par with Trump supporters (and a well-known red name here) at times,  and your insistence that "logic" drives you rather than blind party affiliation occasionally boggles my mind. If you see an article about millennials doing something stupid, do what I do every time I see a Trump supporter quoted on, well, anything: laugh and remind yourself of how much better you are than that.
Um there is only one country that borders with the US where we would 'build a wall.' I am pretty sure that every hispanic I have ever met who is not a mexican, hates being lumped in with Mexicans. I don't see why any other country would care at all.

I don't disagree with anything you said here. Transgender folks don't want their own bathroom, they want to use the same ones everyone else uses because that's 'being treated equal'. The LGBT folks will beat that drum until it happens everywhere, to include private business. They can already sue for a bakery not making a cake, why not sue because they can't use the bathroom they identify with?

How would you explain to your kid why there are adult males/females in restrooms that are not designated for their gender?
Quote:How would you explain to your kid why there are adult males/females in restrooms that are not designated for their gender?

"They had to go to the bathroom"

I mean, my kids don't really ask things like this.  It's like when people are like "What are kids going to think when they see two men holding hands in public?"  My kids think "They must love each other!"

I wouldn't explain it at all. If they asked me why a women is in the bathroom I'd tell them because she needed to go.

What are you afraid of your children seeing? Is the unlikely sight of a biological male wearing a dress standing at a urinal such a traumatizing image?

If a F2M transgendered person shared a public restroom with you, you probably wouldn't know it, and a M2F in public is possibly passable enough to use a women's restroom without detection. If she isn't, she'd be using a stall. Nothing to see.

Quote:Apparently, some kids at Emory University were "scared" and "in pain" over some chalk markings on their campus that said "Trump 2016" and "Build The Wall".  I even saw one report that said that "emergency counseling" was being brought in for those students that were "traumatized".  Some say that they don't feel safe.  Really?

Some of the students are arguing that the writings were not in fact free speech or part of a campaign.  Instead they should be classified as "hate speech".

AP News Story

CBS News Story

Washington Post <-- this one is pretty good.

What is scary enough is the fact that these kids are allowed to vote.  What is even more scary is that these little cupcakes are the future of our country.

Oh my did they have a safe zone nearby and support cry groups?  What is this country turning into... sad

As a parent I take it my responsibility to protect their innocence from what we consider immoral. I've made no secret I find homosecuality, transgender, prostitution and narcotics all immoral acts according to our belief system. However I find having a state powerful enough to impose those beliefs on someonesles equally immoral.

Bottom line I teach my kids one man one women anything and everything else is sinful so we avoid situations that compromise those moral teachings.

Ok I'm ready for my bigotry beatings....

We can't really debate your beliefs due to forum rules, other than to say you're obviously within your rights to mentor your children according to your beliefs.

My guess is you or your kids will encounter the situation we're discussing one day, but you'll never know it happened.

It's not bigotry, it's just ignorance.  How can a person be born immoral?

I thought we weren't allowed to discuss religion on these forums.  This seems dangerously close to talking about religion to me.

Also I fear for your children if any of them turn out to be gay.

You have a right to believe whatever you want.  I'm not going to respect it.  But you have a right to believe as you wish.  You can even teach your children however you like.  You can teach them the world is flat if you want (not that I think that you would).  I don't have to respect people doing that either.

How did a thread about students demanding an end to free speech devolve into a discussion about LGBT and public bathrooms?

It's the acid kicking in. Don't fight it. Rollerjag has a couch we can crash on.

Interesting question. Forget the homo/hetero argument.  You dont think people are born immoral?  I would introduce exhibit A: My kids.  Nobody taught them how to steal, but they always do it.
