Quote:Ever heard of a "free speech zone"?

A d no, the Gray Zone Fallacy is just a fallacy.

So temper tantrums by some bratty college students on a few campuses is a usurpation of constitutional rights leading to societal overthrow and martial law? Can we get some perspective here?

Now I'm confused. The National Enquirer is reporting that he was abducted by aliens and died during the probing process. Afterwards, Harry Reid was heard cackling and quoted as saying "You just gotta relax, man. Ask Larry Craig."

You might want to have a look at how those have been used by various politicians since the early 90s. It's much more than college campuses.
Quote:Under what scenario could it happen here?

I have no idea as I'm not one who sits and ponders such things for lack of better things to do. I just understand that no country is invulnerable- not forever.
Quote:You are a law abiding citizen who obtained a gun legally. Short of the AK47 scenario, he has not threatened your right to own a firearm.

And as I said before the only gun control measures discussed are how to keep them away or take them away from legal owners and nothing about how to take/keep them away from criminals. Enough mass shootings happen and you think they won't crack down on legal owners? We're the only ones they know to go after, the criminals are simply suspect.
Since I have the right to bear arms, there should be no limits. If I want to defend my home with SCUD missiles, that should be within my rights, no?

I don't see how being obtuse furthers your argument.

if you could afford one go for it.

Yes. Knock yourself out.
And I should never have a background performed to get my missiles of course.
Quote:I don't see the compromises you're alluding to. I live my life as open and unhindered as I did 20 years ago. Security is a lot tighter going through airports, but otherwise I still live well within my constitutional protections. There are no black helicopters and cadres of secret government agencies and operatives working to enslave the American people. Regardless of political stripe, there is one characteristic that all Americans share - we want to be free. Even the people who are accused of colluding to usurp our rights. It's very important to not allow the fringes to set the narrative. The truth is always in the middle.

It's a slow boil man, they slowly impose more restrictions a little at a time. Freedom of speech is under more scrutiny than ever before not just a collage campuses but you have examples of reporters being shut down and locked up like Dinesh D'Souza ( http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/...sh-dsouza/ ) or reporters mysteriously dying like Michael Hastings ( http://www.westernjournalism.com/traitor...gs-murder/. ) You have a collaboration of Mainstream media owned by the two party system. Consider the mass domestic spying with operations like stingray completely unconstitutional (http://www.wired.com/2015/10/stingray-go...s-confirm/).

There's the attacks on the 2nd Amendment and Obama's open admissions to essentially outlaw everything but a pistol or hunting rifle.

There's the movement to restrict, and monitor everyone's transportation. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/22/facial-recognition_n_7637488.html

There's the IRS targeting political opponents and being used as a political weapon.

The BLM and there land confiscation out west. http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2014/04/2...-on-texas/

The merger of the state and the healthcare system where doctors are no longer protected to private and patient privileges. or the fact that they are encouraged to spy on you to avoid fines. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...smoke.html

The VIPR check points being conducted. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree...lice-state

It's all being done we just don't realize it because we still have Football on sundays a McDonalds and Walmart in every town.

Aaand you made a post filled with links from fringe sites. There's nothing new here. Crooked politicians have always abused governmental powers for personal or political gain. The use of emerging technologies will always be leveraged by governments until strict guidelines can be established. At one time I'm sure the use of phone taps was considered a technological marvel that had to be controlled.

Bundling all this together is the omnipresent factor of terrorism. Intelligence indicates that terrorists are planning to strike other means of transportation modes besides the airlines. Would you rather the TSA take a wait and see approach? We're dealing with a threat unparalleled in American history. Certain extraordinary measures must be taken. I can assure you, the leadership and the rank and file of the intelligence and security organizations that carry out these measures have no desire to see their own people controlled and herded for some nebulous dark purpose.
Quote:And the current selection process is completely without politics? GMAB. The problem with our entire political system is that it's not about or for We the People, it's about who has the most lobbyists, campaign money and corporate America in their pockets. The People haven't been a true factor nor beneficiary of our government and political "leaders" in decades.

So yeas, the system is broken but it's broken on all fronts.
Broken as it might be, it's still the best system on the planet because of the document that it is built upon.  If we allow an activist court to basically re-write a document to suit their political whim, all is lost.  Losing Scalia is a serious blow to this nation, and potentially to the Bill of Rights itself.  There are several landmark cases to be determined during this session.  Some opinions have already been written, while others are coming soon.  Without a true originalist on the court, there is nobody there to truly defend the intent of the document.

I can promise you this: whoever takes his seat will not be an originalist, nor will they be the greatest legal mind in the nation regardless of party. The political structure in this country is too fractured to ever allow another Benjamin Cardozo onto the Supreme Court.

That's because they don't see it as a dark purpose, they see it as saving you morons from yourselves because you can't be trusted to make your own decisions, especially when you have the enlightened intelligentsia to make them for you so just be quiet and do as we say.

I linked both conservative and liberal leaning sites, domestic and international sites, and mainstream and fringe sites to try and illustrate how acknowledged different aspects of the problem are in different circles. Right wing sees the gun grabs coming the left wing sees the free speech under assault but few acknowledge both threats or all the threats simultaneously building. I'd prefer the TSA the NSA the patriot act and just about every other federal agency be disbanded. The state itself is a bigger threat than any terrorist could ever wish to be.
America is better with Scalia 6 feet under. May he RIP.

Clearly Obama did it. Only a matter of time before this gets spread on Fox.
How you guys doing with the doom thinking? Everything going all right, can I get you something to nibble on? Maybe some shrimp poppers or extreme fajitas?
