I guarantee this guy is a fan of one of the other teams in our division.  Of course he want's to keep bradley as head coach because he's good for an easy win or two every year.

The rebuild excuse only goes so far.  The Team came out and said "It's Built."

The Record, The blowout games, The second half debacles, the wasted timeouts, the stupid challenges, the horrible soft defense,  It's time for him to go.

Quote:LOL

When I said "points" I meant the ones clearly outlined/delineated in the article. (not some Parcells reference) Look again. Maybe you'll find them this time. They have giant alphabetical letters next to them.
Cool. I was referring to the part in the article about Parcells.

Thanks though.
Quote:That's fine, but whether you agree with what he said, it is one of the few well written articles from the outside. We constantly complain about someone who writes something and gets a name wrong or mentions someone who isn't on the team, but at least this guy did his research and made a reasonable argument for keeping the regime intact. Most of the stuff we get on here is the same take about ice cream and sprinkles or the record, but it is nice to read something that offers more than the repetitive regurgitated thoughts from a certain segment of fans. I always appreciate someone who can bring more to the table whether I agree with them or not. Some should learn to do the same, but that would require a little effort and time.

My complaint has always been the amount of ignorance and disrespect we get from the media. Even other teams that have been bad every year get tons of media attention - much of it on the positive side - so there is no excuse for our lack of it. Even if I disagreed with the writer, I would still appreciate the fact that someone wrote a long article praising Jacksonville because that is so rare for the Jaguars.

You can't use we when your Packers and Broncos are undefeated.
I think I'm changing my mind on Gus.  This team is progressing.  We're on track for 3 wins this year, which would put Gus at a respectable 10-38 in his tenure.  If you think of being an NFL head coach as on-the-job training, his first 3 years have really been about getting experience so next year is really his first year, and he really needs at least three years so that means a total of six, so he's here through at least 2019.

By then, we should have accumulated enough top 3 draft picks to declare the team "built" and in contention for an 8-8 season.
Quote:I need to write down the names of the idiots who defend Gus so when he's fired and the other coach wins with the same roster they can't come and say he was awful. Guarantee they're the same folks who trusted in Gene.

You can write?
Quote:You can't use we when your Packers and Broncos are undefeated.

Yes I can because "we" means the Jaguars. When I talk about any other team, I name that team.
I agree, mostly because this team does not need yet ANOTHER change. The team is improved but still raw and young.  If you look, you can see the promise of what could be. Our defense is in a sorry state right now tho...

Quote:This is a great article about why Gus Bradley and David Caldwell should not be fired after the 2015 season. I agree with everything. Sorry if this link has already been posted.

The article lost me when he talked about Bill Parcells.

You know a Hall Of Fame Head Coach that rebuilt the Patriots & trained the current HC to many SuperBowl wins when the team was consider the Leagues worst for decades with no chance of ever being good until he came along, and as far as when he was in the Cowboys he brought Tony Romo and realized he wasnt good enough to win when he told the press that QBs dont fall from trees... many teams would love to have Tony Romo but he knew he wasnt good enough to win a SB.

Bill Parcells words couldnt be more true, you are what your record says you are... the jaguars HC has won 4 games, then 3 games, and now this season only 1 game... he's getting worse not better...

++++++

from that link they wrote:

How, you ask, can we possibly use the word "encouraging" to describe a 1-5 team? How, you wonder, can Bradley possibly deserve patience when Jacksonville's defense (his specialty) Ranks 30th and last in takeaways and third-down %?

+++++++++++++++

He forgot to add that it has been going on for three years.. do you think when HC Andy Reid went to KC that they said fine rebuild take a few years.. no he took the leagues worst team 32nd ranked and made them undeafted for over 2/3rds of his first season.. sure he had QB problems too and never found one.. plus HCs sometimes conflict with GM or Owners that undermind them (See Washington Redskins), but a really good HC will find a way to get close to .500 if nothing else...(See JDR, or Coughlin, or Rex Ryan)...

Funny.. this is the most upseting part about that article..

(By the way, according to multiple high-level sources in the Jags building, patience does indeed remain intact despite frustrations with the defense's progress.)

Yeah lets bash a proven great HC (Hall of Fame Head Coach that most would beg to have here if they could) and praise a losing Head Coach with no HC experince until he came to Jacksonville...

This article is fluff, to make fans try and be happy rooting for a losing team.

Quote:I'm confused, isn't this what the apologist have been doing for years on here?

Any article that even remotely suggest that a 5-11, 2-14, 4-12, 3-13, or 1-5 team is bad gets immediately rejected just off the headline.

Or it could be the content.  Typically, those articles have incorrect information so hard to take it seriously.  Maybe though you have an example of an articles providing accurate information and your human obsessive trait to categorize a segment of people into one broad term.

There is just so much new here, I really think we need another post like.  Oh wait, there are tons here in this very thread.

After reading the article, it seems like the writer was focusing on the bigger picture.  The "Plan" if you will.  Which was to make the offense better and then build the defense.  He referenced the draft, how we drafted and showed how the "Plan" was being worked.  It also showed how the "Plan" was having an impact on the offense and our passing game like we haven't seen since Mark Brunell, Jmmy Smith and Keenan McCardell (and doing so without a HOF LT or a potential HOF RB or that line).  He made examples of some bad luck, injury to the #1 pick which was a part of the "Plan" to build the defense and also acknowledged some of the short comings.  Now you may not agree with the "Plan" or the person who is running it or coaching it, but again, at least this writer outside of Jacksonville actually made a thoughtful article and those types of posts here are very hard to come by over the last few weeks.  You could actually read the article which also happens to be the topic of discussion and give an opinion, disagreement and/or counter to what he actually said.  Or continue on, being lazy, making lazy posts repeating the same thing you say in multiple threads.

I read it JDub.

1) He was flat out wrong to claim that Caldwell has built the offense at the expense of the defense. In free agency this year he signed 3 defenders vs. two on offense. He also drafted for defense in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th rounds in this year's draft.

2) The defense has been predictable.

3) There is NO excuse for going 0-3 these last three weeks. The three teams we just played were A) a reeling Colts team with an OL in shambles starting a 40-year old backup who was in the hospital the previous and following days with a serious infection, B) A rookie QB who just threw four INTs the previous week and who's best offensive lineman was out, and C) a team that was still debating which QB to start between two guys who each had melted down earlier this season.

4) Watch the three plays starting at 6:15 in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game. Then tell me why Gus Bradley is still the coach.

The rebuild is progressing well. Bradley hasn't. He's still making the same pathetic mistakes he made in 2013.

They can stick that plan where the sun don't shine.

By year 3 there should be signs of the plan working.   AT 1-5 and the same issues keep popping up shows the plan has derailed against very mediocre competition.  Usually if a plan is not showing signs of working by year 3 it's time to hit the reset button.  Just bury your head in the sand and hold out hope a miracle will happen and bradley will take us to the promised land.

Gus has got to go and the whole article is rubbish.

I believe he said the emphasis was building the offense first and referenced building the defense starting with Fowler in this year's draft.  Not sure how we was wrong, but hey, at least you read the article and gave your opinion on it.

Defense has been predictable.  No argument there.

Agree again.  I think most feel this way including the coaches, players, GM and Owner.

I won't argue for Gus.  He has made mistakes and you would hope he would get more out of the D even if it still wasn't built.

Only time will tell now.

Yes, yes, I know jaguarmvp.  Maybe you will say something you haven't already said?  Anyways, again, you could actually read the article and respond to it.  As I mentioned earlier (starting to repeat myself now, you are rubbing off jaguarmvp), you could actually respond to the article which just so happens to be what the thread is about.  Or you can continue talking about and out of your bung hole.

As for your bung hole point in bold, my head is not buried and precisely why I was happy to read something of substance.  It has been a while on these boards.  While I agree with the logic and thought behind what the writer of the article said as well as Caldwell's, I also believe that being 1-5 was not a part of the plan or what they were hoping for.  There are a lot of factors.  Mistakes by Caldwell either by letting vets go he shouldn't (D. Smith, Pot Roast), signing free agents who have under performed (Toby Gerhart,  Beadles) or making mistakes in the draft (Ace Sanders, potentially Cyprien).  Or injuries which all teams face.  For a team being transformed, injuries have a bigger impact, but Caldwell made that choice bigger picture or not.  Gus, who continues to make poor challenges, has struggled in the 2nd half (whether that is adjustments, game planning or something else) and now, in his 3rd year has a defense severely under performing expectations.  You could put some of that on talent, some on game planning, some on not adjusting to what you have, etc...  It isn't that I'm for Gus at this point.  What I am for is understanding their reasoning behind their decisions.  We have pieces of information and are missing other pieces of information and try to paint a clear picture with our insanely creative descriptions of ice cream and sprinkles while never fully understanding how it's made, what the ingredients are and what goes on behind the scenes.  Hey, we get to read the label right?  Now I'm sure one of you Crew members will come up with something creative like I know what curse word ice cream tastes like and honestly, this is a terrible comparison, but you Crew members don't give me much to work with.  I am however in support of Dave and his plan.

This TEAM hasn't improved or progressed. Trying to compartmentalize one section(the offense) to justify 3 years with this regime sucking doesn't speak for the whole. Matter of fact two thirds(defense and special teams) of the team is more bad than improved or good so he and a lot of others are wrong. The team as a whole sucks. The turd on the top is 1-5.

I really hope this fan base isn't being fooled into thinking we have a good thing here. What we've been getting is hot stinky garbage on the field. There was a time when fans went to the games and the team was actually fun to watch even if we knew they weren't going to win it all. The team we have these days since we drafted Blaine Gabbert is just one big punch in the stomach to the fans and to ask us to continue being loyal to the team has come and gone. Either the team turns it around this season or we cut our losses and stop wasting time.
