Half the 1st round? You would have to explain that more. Maybe 1/3, but even a number of those are scheme fits.

It wasn't just about the 1st round in that draft. We took Cyprien #33.

 

Look at some of the names taken in the 2nd round and tell me it was a "weak draft". Talent was there that is MUCH better than Cyprien and Gratz.

It takes 3-4 years to determine if a draft pick is a bust or not, and no one drafts all great players. Anyone who feels conned probably had unrealistic expectations to begin with.


Furthermore, Caldwell didn't sell a 3 year plan to Khan (his deal is 5 years), and I still haven't seen the link stating where he sold a 3 year plan to the fan base that everyone keeps talking about.


It is what it is at this point, fellers. Caldwell has hit some, missed some. If he hits on Blake and Fowler, he'll be considered a decent GM. Gus Bradley on the other hand, is starting to prove incapable of developing talent. This team isn't where it wants to be, and they may not be where they thought they'd be at this point either, but I certainly don't blame Khan for not giving his guys a chance to right the ship before it sinks. Doug Marrone has already shown the ability to abandon a perfectly good ship; I wouldn't want him taking the reigns either.

 

There are a few articles in the past year where Caldwell talked about "adding some free agents at year 3 when we were ready" or something to that effect. Many have taken that to mean 3-year plan. Also, the quotes/graphics about the team being "built" did not help.

 

I think, People are truly underestimating where this team was 3 years ago. I posted the other coaching hires and interviews from that year, and remember how none of the other hired coaches even interviewed here. Why do think that was?

 

Granted there were some talented players they could have kept, but every points to Caldwell selling to Khan that it would take 3 years of drafts to just really be competitive to win games. Remember he felt we OVERACHIEVED the past two years. So if anything, imagine if the Jags had only won 3-4 games the past 2 years because that was their expectation.

 

Bradley's main problems is that:

1) He is too ingrained in his "principles" on offense/defense to create schemes for players he actually has.

2) He takes too long to really assess the problems to make timely adjustments.

3) He does not come off as detail-minded, so it is crazy to think he can make his players be that.

And the coaching staff should have immediately realized he was better and started him from day 1. Again showing how much they don't know.

 

The plan may have been to sit him but he was clearly better from the jump. You don't get better after 2 weeks of the season. Bradley makes poor coaching decisions time and time again.

You know what is funny. If you could go back to some of those threads, there were  people (guess who) actually supporting Henne as the starter. It was pretty bad to be honest.

I don't think so. This organization has tried to say the right things to the media and has kept a slot of stuff close to the vest. Did they not do the same thing when they took over when Gene Smith was still the GM? They "supported" him when he was still here, but as soon as the season was over, they gave him the axe along with Mularkey.

I think this organization is in for a pretty big shock with ticket renewals next year if things don't change.

 

I have spoken to droves of loyalist' who don't plan on renewing if big changes aren't made. These are only the people I know. I can imagine it is the same in everybody's circle.

I will still go to some games, as single game tickets can be had for free basically these days. You would think I was trying to give away vials of Ebola when I offer tickets to friends.

NFL cities must support their team win or lose for however  long it wishes to remain an NFL city. If there were to be two years of 22000 you can bet it would be adios mustachios. The NFL is not a business which has worry about fan support. If they don't receive it one place, they will somewhere else. Basically, take what you get or someone else will.

It is a stark reality. Peoples time seems to be more precious these days than in the past. Going to a Jags game is an all-day commitment because you are usually too tired to do anything when you get home at 5 if you have been drinking. People are growing tired of it.

I use to feel obligated to purchase season tickets because I was financially able to and felt it was my responsibility to do my part to keep the team here and support them, but with the state of the team and seeing the NFL's overall greed in the past years the potential of the team leaving doesn't weigh on me as much as it did in the past.

Two other owners found that kind of production unacceptable and fired their coaches. I guess two other owners had a different definition of "the right thing to do."

I'm wondering what attendance for the Thursday night game is going to be. It could be very bad with it being a late kickoff and if Gus is still here, then nothing will have changed. Loss to the bad Bills, average Jets, and bad Ravens will have fans not even wanting to show up. There were lots of empty seats against the Texans that are usually full.

I think people will still go just because it is a night game, if for no other reason than to tailgate.
