You just said "If he is not the answer," which clearly means you don't know. None of us know. That's why you give him a shot. It's not like he was an utter failiure in Buffalo to where we can just say "no chance." This isn't an endorsement for Marrone, but I'd like to see what he's got.


 

Consider Khan's rookie year when we got Mularkey, a.k.a. one of the few worst HC's ever in the history of the league... way worse than Gus. Well, if somehow the Jaguars had a chance to look at him for half a season first we would have known to not waste an entire fresh season on him.

Again, what are we gaining by canning Gus early besides momentary satisfaction? If you think Marrone is the guy then more power to you. All I'm saying is Marrone will still be there come January 4th and beyond.

The results from that season are a bit mixed which is why we really still don't know. Under Marrone with EJ as their qb, the Bills finished with their first winning season since 2004. Marrone was let go under new ownership following the death of Ralph Wilson.

What are we gaining by not firing Gus? In your example, you asked whats the difference betweent 4-12 and 6-10. How big of a difference in draft choice would that be? Pick 4-6 to Pick 6-10?

 

If Caldwell cant get a good player in pick 6-10, he shouldn't be a GM.

2014 was the Bills first season without Ralph Wilson as owner. The new owners moved on quickly.

How are ticket sales affected by firing Gus at the end of the season? The best evaluation of Marrone is what you saw from him last year where he had full reign of his team from start to finish. If you like what you saw last season then good for you. If a handful of games in a throw away season is more valuable to you then good for you too.


Again, I want the highest pick possible. If I miss out on a potential much needed game changer such as Ramsey or Hargreaves or the potential to trade down and gain a bevy of picks because of an extra meaningless win I will have a real issue with that.

I guess that's one negative way of looking at It. What if bortles develops even more under Marrone?

What if we start building a culture where attention to detail is stressed and we have a more disciplined, less penalized team?

What if Marrone or whoever else starts making good halftime adjustments and starts putting our players in positions to succeed?

Because its not likely. In 75+ years of NFL football, there's only been a couple of interim head coaches who amounted to anything.

While we're on the subject, let me be the first to say...

I really hope that all these people who are championing for Marrone realize that this guy barely got a sniff from teams with head coaching vacancies last offseason. There has to be a reason for that.

Eh, who really cares at this point.  It's only October and the season is over.  You know the Jags have 0% chance of making the playoffs and we'll continue to find ways to lose. 

 

The only real reason to watch now is for fantasy - Bortles, Hurns, and A Rob are at least viable fantasy options, which is something we haven't had in a long time.  

 

Whether or not Gus is fired midseason or at the end of the season really doesn't make a difference.  We're not going anywhere in any case.

Marrone wasn't fired, he quit.

 

This is what makes the idea of bringing on Morrone as intern so foolish.

 

He didn't want his last head coaching job. What makes people think he wants to take over this train wreck even in the intern is beyond me.
