Quote:2014 was the Bills first season without Ralph Wilson as owner. The new owners moved on quickly.

Of that list, Jason Garrett was the only one who did it recently, and he took over a pretty good roster and underwhelmed the league for 3 years.
Quote:You really think moving Mel Tucker to interim head coach for 5 games lead to this current death spiral?
You really think moving him to HC  brought anything positive?
Quote:Marrone wasn't fired, he quit.

This is what makes the idea of bringing on Morrone as intern so foolish.

He didn't want his last head coaching job. What makes people think he wants to take over this train wreck even in the intern is beyond me.

Want to read something funny? Read this article and replace Marrone's name with Gus's.

Oh yeah... You're talking about how he opted out of his contract as opposed to being "let go" like I said.

I forgot about that, although that's even more reason to consider him considering he wasn't even canned. I guess the question that would need to be asked here, however, is if he'd want to be the HC moving forward.

Quote:Because Nathaniel Hackett was his offensive coordinator in Buffalo. Me thinks if he's promoted to interim he could look to move him back into that role for the rest of the season.

Even if that were the case the playbook wouldn't change. Since the offense has been the best part of the Jags it's very unlikely that Marrone would replace Olson in mid-season.

If by some miracle Marrone were to get the Jags winning consistently enough to be retained as head coach in 2016, it would be the best chance for Bortles to run the same offense two years in a row. If the Jags wait until after the season to fire Gus the replacement is almost certain to bring in a new OC.

Did I say that? Mel Tucker didn't start the [BLEEP] storm, Gene Smith did.
After surviving quite possibly one of the worst General Managers of all time, the Jags take it one step further with the worst Head Coach since the merger...virtue builds character!

Err... I also forgot that their QB last year was Orton... not EJ.

Wow. That is hilarious. Just change Mike Williams and Jerry Hughes with McCray and Chris Smith.
Pretty sad Marrone has more wins in one season than Gus Bradley has in 3 years.

With Kyle Orton at QB.

Well you sure are advocating doing that now like it worked back then. Heck, in another year or two we might be talking about the [BLEEP] storm that Caldwell started.

It helps when you're coaching a team with a pretty stacked roster. The Bills are one QB away from being perennial playoff contenders.

That's bad logic anyway.

That's like saying having a top 10 pick isnt a good thing, because we've had one for the last 10 years.
Quote:I last heard, somewhere amongst Jags fans, that our team is killing itself with errors and bad players.  With a change of more/less conservative coaching, using the same playbook and players making  mistakes, we should see progress?  Is that your position?

Does anybody know the problem?  Coach, players, or plays?  Nevermind, just put feet(s) in rear-ends and Wins will come.  I forgot we only lose because Gus is nice.

I was talking about the offense, and how it wouldn't make a difference in Bortles development. You're changing the subject. Whether or not the Jags can start winning games if Gus is fired is debateable. That's the point, let's see if Marrone can make a difference. Based on the last three games and the two previous seasons it couldn't get much worse.

If you were masochist enough to keep a recording of the last game, watch the three plays starting with 6:15 left in the 3rd quarter. That's the problem with the way the last three games were coached in a nutshell.

Would Marrone change that? Hopefully. At this point I'd expect that even Jaxon DeVille could run a better defense.

The public statement was that he opted out of his contract. Who really knows whether or not he was pushed out by the new owner and given the chance to 'opt out' so as to not make it look like he was fired.

I don't see the issue with letting Marrone take over in an interim role, this team doesn't have enough talent to get a bunch of wins, so I doubt you hurt your draft chances too much, but you get the added benefit of evaluating a potential coach, instead of just doing it blindly after the season is down the toilet.

If he does miraculously somehow get this team 6+ wins, you might have someone worth keeping.

There were a couple quips from that article reminding me of Gus...

Quote:Fans got tired of hearing versions of “We had a game plan. We didn’t execute, and we need to get better” after every loss. The fans already know that, see that, and have figured that out..

The wording may be different, but the message is the same and it gets old quick.

Quote:Fans are not sure why wide receiver Mike Williams did not play for six games. The worst part was Doug Marrone’s explanation of it for one of the games: that Kyle Williams being able to play nixed Mike’s chances.

This makes me think about how Chris Smith is inactive every week while Andre Branch produces jack squat.

Your logic is like sticking your hand in a fire and getting burned then doing it again thinking it will feel good the next time.

And wasn't he coaching in the same division as the Belichick and Brady?

Now that is a slap into reality by a cold hard hand.
