Quote:Why don't we just get Tebow. Blake reminds me of Garrard and Henne no matter what he still has not taking charge of this team. You are on the field. You make the call that gets us the best chance to win..No matter who the QB is they just can't win for..etc. I just don't know.
Do you not understand defensive statistics? Aaron Rodgers would be (2-4) with our D
Quote:David Garrard. Thoughts?
I kind of see what you mean in that he is hard to tackle a big guy whom can run but he's not super fast yet he is evasive and able to get the first down with his legs when he choses to run.
I think Blake Bortles is faster than DG & more elusive but DG was stronger and harder to tackle more like Big Ben & Garrad like Big Ben usually stayed in the pocket avoiding the tackle for the throw instead of Bortles whom usually runs for the 1st down on most occasions. I think Blake has a better arm than David Garrard for the deep passes but DG was better with vision on short...
I dont really like to compare QBs to other guys because it isnt often that they are 100% like one guy or the other... and it takes away what that person did or can do..
I don't think I've ever seen a guy exactly like Blake Bortles but he actually reminds me of Brett Favre (Blake's idol by the way, which would make sense if he grew up wanting to be like him). He tends to throw risky passes just like he runs trying to make something out of nothing but the difference being that Brett had more talent around him & Brett had more talent period. But Brett also learned on the Bench Im pretty sure his rookie year unlike Blake whom was thrown in the mix.
Both are likeable tough guys that put it all on them and dont blame anyone else, guys that are built like a LB and not afraid to get hit either by a defender or the press...
Yeah both threw a lot of picks almost as much as TDs... but Brett had a knack of winning it when it really counted towards the end of the game he could will his team to win which Blake wants to do but hasnt quite figured it out yet...
Give Blake time he's only in his 2nd year I told people whom were too quick to praise after last week that he is going to have ups and downs this year less than he did as a rookie but still many ups and downs... one only hopes he stays healthy and learns in the process so that its more ups than downs...

I've always been against the Tebow thing but if you're going to win one game and pick first in the draft every year might as well have a local boy playing QB. Heck, let's have tryouts and let the best in Duval play QB.

Tim? Is that you?
Didn't you hear Dave a couple of cuts ago? Not even if he's released!
Quote:Lol the dude had one good year stop
He is the leader of our TD record, Brunell never threw TDs

Good chance that record is toast by Thanksgiving.

And yet he will still talk about Bortles like he's trash.
We need Fournette when eligible.
Maybe a bit like Luck but with a higher ceiling, spotty accuracy, both capable of big plays throwing and running.
Garrard is the greatest because of his 23/15 season. Bortles is on pace for 34/17 with at least 1,000 more yards and is trash. Man I love this board sometimes.
garrard was better than Brunell, its a fact. Brunnell was a good QB but his team carried him

Yes. Makes perfect sense. We have been starved for even an average QB for the longest time, now we have one near the top of the league in important statistical categories and people want to act like he's horrible.

My god. You are embarrassing.

You have to be trolling. Garrard had one good season and a couple of decent ones. Brunell was a 3x pro bowler who led the team to multiple huge playoff wins.
In nine seasons David Garrard had 89 touchdown passes. Blake will beat that in the 2017 season which would be his 4th. Shut up about Garrard. It is stupidity to put him in the same league as Blake. Wow!!!
Please look up the early stats of Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Brett Favre, Andrew Luck, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers, etc... Blake right now is on an incredible pace and if he stays on that pace, he will not only be in elite company, he will be all by himself. Of course, Blake could also regress which I don't anticipate, but 16 games can even things out one way or another in how he lines up with history. Point is, there are some ridiculously stupid posts in this thread. I mean, unbelievably stupid posts when you consider Bortles is being compared with Tebow and Henne in this thread and purplenurple stated Garrard was better than Brunell. Again, criticism is fine, but some of you fans are literally [BLEEP].

Wow that's nearly 10 TDs a season....HOF IMO.

Luck makes a lot more riskier throws, but less boneheaded no chance for completion passes as Blake. That is what Blake has to fix. No chance dumb plays. He is doing so much more right now, but those plays are still there.
