Quote:It seems like some people have an agenda and want bortles to be bad so they can be correct about their initial opinions of him. So when we has a meh day everyone will come flocking to say I told you so. Even though there were much more pressing concerns than a few mistakes by blake.

The entire offense was disjointed.

We just need a real HC and go from there.
Quote:Took the lead? You realize the team was outscored 21-6 in the 4th quarter (only score was his garbage time TD on a drive that was a 3 and out but was saved by a penalty). You keep taking shots at me, and you don't even know me. Would you grow up already, I'm tired of it.

As for the stats: Carr has more wins, a better TD:INT ratio, a higher completion %, and a higher YPA. Anything else?
So you come on here after every Jags loss talking trash, and complain about me taking shots? The Carr numbers you posted are slim leads over Blake. How about touchdowns and yards per game? Those are blowouts in Bortle's favor. And give me a break with the lead in wins, they're not pitchers.
If only the inept posters were as intelligent as the best defensive player in the league. J.J. Watt: Bortles is 'going to get better and better'.

Going from 11 TD to 34 TD isn't a good enough improvement for these clowns? It's embarrassing really. Bortles offseason work ethic is MUCH better than any Jags QB in their history. Imagine this 23 year old in 5 years from now.

A good portion of the complainers can be traced back to 2014 draft season bashing Bortles and praising Bridgewater. He seems to be working out well.

You don't think the fact that the TDs and yards he has is a result of the blowout losses? Obviously you're going to be throwing more (against prevent defenses) when you're down big. Carr has also played less than Bortles, in case you forgot to factor that in. Which is why I posted stats that are more objective indicators of efficiency, something Bortles severely lacks. The body of work and the eye test both strongly favor Carr, the onus is on you to make the argument otherwise.

I've watched Teddy and Blake 3 years in college. Teddy only checks down well. He's a manager. I'm calling it now that Teddy like RG3 is a future backup. Minnesota is DEAD LAST in passing yards and DEAD LAST in passing TDs in the NFL. The Vikings have a solid defense, a solid kicker, and solid coaching Norv Turner, etc around Teddy.

The best thing the Jags could ever do is fire Gus and get Blake a real head coach.

Most of Bortles stats come in the first half. You continue to guess. You're wrong. Run along

Both Carr and Bortles look like franchise QBs. Teddy, Jameis, and Mariota don't.

I'm not leaving the board until someone can objectively prove Bortles is a better QB than Carr, or I get my $5k. Besides, judging by how much a lot of you post about me, I think you'd miss me too much.

$5k bet for THEIR careers. I'm from Oviedo. I've watched this kid get better from junior year high school to senior like no other improvement I've ever seen. I was a high school coach for 15 years. Then in college he started as a backup to beating Teddy and Top 10 ranking in the country. Now he's going from 11 TD season to 30-35 TD in 2nd year. This kid's work ethic is like no other Jags QB in their history. I'm telling you right now to keep doubting him. You don't have a clue.

You only made that stipulation after the fact, you sneaky devil. Regardless, Carr's career to this point has been light years ahead, there isn't an objective rational person who wouldn't be all over that bet.

Bortles is currently tied for 3rd in the NFL for TD passes with Aaron Rodgers (13, compared to Carr's 8), 4th in passing yards (1630 to Carr's 1171), 2nd in attempts per game (40.3 to Carr's 32.4, and has been sacked 17 times (tied for 4th most in the NFL) to Carr's 7 sacks.

The only thing Carr has better than Bortles at this point is completion % (Bortles with 57%, Carr at 63%), and Interceptions (Bortles with 7, Carr with 3).

The stats show that, to be honest, BOTH QB's are probably going to be very good.
Ok so if we get to "ignore" Bortles "garbage time" stats then we can ignore his last two interceptions. Because they came in the same time period. None of it exists!

The QB is a lie.

It's a parallel universe
Let me break this down for Bortles haters.....

JETS (4-1)- Ryan Fitzpatrick 9 TD- 7 INT-------defense #1 in NFL in opponents PPG at 15.3

JAGS (1-5)-Blake Bortles 13 TD- 7 INT----------defense #32 in NFL in opponents PPG at 30.4

These dimwits see the problem now?
Any hate on Bortles is perplexing and yes there is a difference between hate and criticism.  He is the offense.  Without Bortles this team would still be getting blown out.  He has no run game to speak of.  He is pressured consistently throughout the game.  And yes, the boneheaded decisions are worthy of criticism, but to blame Bortles for the losses is crazy.  How about the defense who can't get any pressure on the QB consistently?  They make mistakes all game long.  Or the oline who hasn't opened up a run for more then what, 10 or 15 yards (maybe it has, just can't remember one).  And that means for 5 games they have sucked consistently all game long.  Or the constant pressure Bortles is facing week in and week out?  Yes, Bortles makes some mistakes, but he also is making a lot of good throws and decisions.  He is doing so with most of the team around him not playing well (minus, consistently Hurns, ARob and maybe Poz who had big play on 4th down).  He has room to improve and he has already improved a ton so at this point threads like this are simply fans mad that we aren't winning (which I get) and blaming that on the one player who is the reason we are even in games (which I get, but don't get at the same time).

Being the Jags put up most of their stats in the first half, your argument is lacking any substance.
