Quote:a pass for what?

Being crappy.

Which I'm not saying he will, just stating the obvious if the above happens.
Well, thats usually what happens.  Kind of like Bortles or any other rookie that struglges.  Some players it takes more time than others.

There will also be the ones calling him a bust the 1st quarter of the season if he comes out slow and isnt lighting up the stat sheet

That would be unfair. Even the best font get sacks every game.
Yes. The acl is a major injury but the recovery even for explosive athletes has become pretty standard.
I doubt he even comes back. Probably coast in life on his good looks and gold shoes.

Draft another LEO in 2016.  I don't see Clemons and Branch being here next year.  We need a strong rotation of pass rushers.

The fact is, we never got a chance to see him in action in the NFL to be able to judge if he would prove to be what we hoped, based on his college performance. Maybe he would be great... or maybe he would be another derrick harvey... we don't know. Nevertheless, it would seen logical to think that a serious knee injury (it has side lined him for the season) wouldn't be a positive thing with him just getting started.

All any of us can do is wait and see. In the mean time, I think it would be prudent to draft another highly rated pass rusher; after all, you can't actually have too many of them.

I am still for drafting a pass rusher in the first 3 rounds.  But I expect Fowler to be 100% next year.

ACL injuries like the one he sustained are no longer career impacting injuries.  He'll be fine once he's back on the field.  Then we'll know what we've got.

Exactly right. Putting all of our eggs in the Fowler basket is ludicrous.

I wasn't impressed with the pick to begin with and now we'll never know what he could have been. I'm hoping for the best but he wasn't even the best pass rusher in that draft.
I don't expect the team to put all their eggs in the Fowler basket.  Regardless of his recovery, the team needs depth at that position.

yes

Pffft, 100%? 420% is what I say. At least I'm 91% sure he will.

Quote:An ACL is an ACL.  If it's torn and requires repair, the recovery is pretty predictable.  The player usually comes back with a stronger knee than before the injury.  He'll be fine.  It takes time, but he shouldn't be negatively impacted by this knee injury.
I agree

I don't understand what you mean by this FBT; the man is sidelined his whole rookie season due to this injury... doesn't that count as 'impacting his career'? Or are you suggesting that this injury should have no long lasting effects on his performance ability? If so, it still leave us with questions about what his performance ability is... or was... or would've been.

gads... :pinch:
Would we even know if he was 100%?

Would we know if he was 110%?

ACL injuries used to be career-ending or severe enough to significantly lower the expectations for how productive a player would be coming back.  That's not the case any longer.  So, no, being sidelined his rookie season doesn't have an impact on his career.  It impacts his rookie year.  He's got plenty of career ahead of him beyond his rookie season.

I get that ACLs have become somewhat "routine," but I wasn't crazy about the pick before the injury.

Less so after.

IMO, we should treat him as we did Blackmon.  Whatever he contributes is gravy.  Plan as if he's not here and continue to draft/acquire "LEO."  You can't have too many pass rushers.
