Just like if they win, you and the other trolls can say "but they had to play against Hasselbeck to win". Right?

ESPN style. "Lowly Jags squeak by beat up Colts"

...even if we win by 20

Jaguars get "Lucky" win over Hasselbeck-led Colts
Quote:Yeah, because it makes *no difference at all* whether we're missing five players at a single position, right?

It's not an excuse. It's a reality, and refusing to acknowledge it is foolishness of the highest order.

And further, it's not an excuse for last week's overall performance, because I don't think anyone was relying on our corners alone to put us in a position to compete with the Patriots, and even the guys replacing injured players did worse than anyone would have liked. But in games that are close but potentially winnable, injuries *can and do* make the difference. Unfortunately, we've got a game coming up that's close, potentially winnable, and significant, and the team is riddled with injuries.

Hopefully if Luck's playing injured too, that will even things out a bit.

The colts are injured too. Besides Andrew Luck, they are having CB issues and OL issues. The excuses are not one sided.

Nope, a win is a win and ill take it anyway i can.
I can see the headlines now:

Jags R Bake, defeat clots led by their best QB this year, Matt Hasselbeck.

Quote:I just believe that in a forum setting like this you will see a lot more angry people going on the forum to complain than you will see people that see progress. It's just like when reading reviews for a product or something similar. Most people that like the product aren't going to go onto the site to write a review.

It's the same reason when after the Miami win there wasn't nearly as many threads like we are seeing now. All the mad people go into their holes until something bad happens again so they can say "I told you so".

You do realize Miami is not a good team right? We beat someone close to our caliber. That isn't saying much.

Yep, just like the last 3 years the meaningless wins just lower our draft position while the team makes little to no real progress.
Luck has thrown seven friggin picks this year, bring his caveman looking [BLEEP] on and make it ten picks................

So you'll only be happy with a tie?

My point is that wins against bad teams are worthless at this stage of the franchise. We can't beat good teams so the wins against bad teams just inflate the actual performance of the team.

If we were actually good then I'd agree that a win is a win even if we get an ugly one every now and then.

It's cool. I get it.

Wow.

Why even bother winning the divison? That just kills our draft position and we miss out on top tier talent.
Do you realize how stupid it is to not want to beat a team because you perceive them as being a bad team?  This is the NFL.  You try to win every game you can.  Damn I swear some people on here just [BLEEP] about anything.  Some of you shouldn't even be sports fans because nothing will ever make you happy.  Seriously just quit being Jags fans, we don't need you.

I'm going to respectfully disagree.

Speaking from distant, personal experience...you use those wins against bad teams to build towards being able to beat the good ones. This is especially important with teams as young as ours and falls under the "experience" category. I know it's somewhat cliche, but more often than not teams have to learn how to win and they do so by beating bad teams.

Josh Johnson would carve up our soft zone D like a Thanksgiving turkey, maybe even eat the bones.
