unfortunately the tacks dont. Or maybe that was just Tampa sucking that bad. Either way, I hope you are right.
Probably just Tampa looking that bad..remember the Jags did the same to them a few years ago lol
Quote:It is going to be difficult to pass aggressively down field. Those take about 3+ seconds. The replacement left tackle only provides 1.5 seconds for the QB to operate.
Somebody please tell me how Sam Young made the team???

Josh Wells got injured.

Why was Sam Young even in training camp??
Past being mad after Sunday.....taking a deep breath and hoping on hope that the fins game will be different.

Don't mind a loss, just look like a freakin' TEAM.

You seem to have bizarrely high expectations for a third-string LT who wasn't supposed to make the roster.
Quote:Go back to my question.  When I posted something negative about his influence on the Bills QBs, I was assured by many, including you, that he wouldn't influence the play calling.

Now when you are trying to quell the unrest, to keep from making Bradley the sole scapegoat, you spread around the blame to Marrone?

Edit:  This is the thread in question, dated Mid July.

It was a short thread.

What changed between now and then?

His mind and agenda?
Honest question: has Bradley completely handed the offense over to the coordinator?

I'm wondering if the plan on offense has some overall guidance by Gus.

As others have mentioned, this is a new staff on the offensive side. But they looked exactly the same as last year.

To me, it begs the question as to how much input Gus actually has.

Maybe he's more hands on in regards to the offensive philosophy than we are led to believe?

In his Press Conference it sounded to me like a Defensive Coordinator who thought his Defense played well and he was throwing the OC under the bus but not trying to make it obvious.
We're forced to be cautious because the receivers can't catch anything and/or injured. The tight end wasn't even looked at the entire game. Not really a single deep attempt for a big play and it was just back to small ball so the defense just sits on our routes and we have to be really cautious to avoid pick 6's.

Legitimate questions and speculations.

Perhaps it was simply a matter of poor execution and not any influence from Bradley whatsoever,.

Perhaps it was a poor game plan from a coordinator who didn't put together a good game plan, or did, but abandoned it in adversity.

Perhaps it was a good game plan that was ruined by poor execution AND interference from Bradley.

Perhaps Carolina played good defense.

I'm betting it was some combination of the above.

The third (and quite frankly scarier prospect) is that well, no matter what OC we have, the offense has to be built this way because of...

Bortles.

Yeah I said if. Remember when our offense was built around Garrard and we knew it was limited for that reason? Same with Gabbert.

Does Bortles have deficiencies they had to cater towards and that's why our offense inevitably looks the same? We have never had a true gunslinger at quarterback. Not since Brunell pre-injury at least.

I'm not saying that's the case. I still think Bortles is the real deal and can make all the throws.

I just worry naturally
It's a pretty simple fix.  stop the pick 6's and the drops  Wallbash

We bunched the line as well and limited the pass patterns as well.  In fairness on the pick 6, there were 4 receivers running routes but only the TE releases down field.  I didn't like the route concept on the play and Yeldon ran a sloppy route as well.  He is a rookie of course.

The preseason had the benefit of the defense not game planning but the plays "looked" crisp and more than stacked boxes and short routes.

The preseason also gave young players the benefit of additional reps.  Yeldon was so limited in the preseason that sloppy route running isn't a surprise.

The pick 6 was a frustrating thing to watch, especially because Bortles clearly tightened up a bit afterward.  We need him to get past his mistakes and move on more quickly.  Otherwise we're going to see faith in his ability to lead this team evaporate.  Fortunately for him, there won't be a QB controversy here.  Even at his worst on Sunday, not a single person howled to put in Henne, which is nice.
In other news....this is a non-story after Gus clarified his comment. It wasn't a play-calling issue, it was a decision making issue.

Bradley has always given me the impression that he's pretty hands off with the offense. I think it's telling that he can't really answer questions about the offense until Monday's.
Gus just comes off as a defensive coordinator with a head coach title. Why does it take until the day after to say "oh we should have done that better". Or we "were really conservative". Wasn't that the same issue he had with Jedd Fisch? I just remember harping on him to be aggressive. He is the coach, he has the final say. If he doesn't like something have it done the way he wants if he keeps waiting he will be out of the job. We make 0 adjustments at halftime on offense. If it doesn't work, keep doing it.
