Quote:These guys don't play like they want to win. They just don't. They can't put together anything in the second half. If there was accountability on offense, they would have brought in some veteran receiving help. You gotta get angry sometimes, even on the sideline. He shouldn't have to wait til the end of the game to get his damn point across.
Besides that, if they were being held accountable. things would be changing...receivers would be catching the ball or on the bench or SOMETHING different would happen...You don't hold people accountable by allowing them to keep doing what they are doing, that's not what holding people accountable is...People would be getting punished, getting extra reps, sitting on the bench, maybe even fined if they were being held accountable

Your one to talk.
We all know it was only 1 game. I think the problem was (yet again), there seemed to be no visible improvement and it took a lot of wind out of people's sails. Could the team get it together and possibly play better? Sure.. But the play we've seen on Sunday seems to be par for the course from the last small handful of seasons. I understand all the malcontent and feeling of hopelessness. Every game looks like a repeat of the previous game..
I get tired of Bradley's excuses. His claim that the offense played cautious after watching the tape shows that he has no clue on offense. He may be defensive minded but he's the HC and should dictate how the team plays in all phases. He delegates everything on offense to the OC but he is still responsible.

That's why they need to start giving some other receivers a freaking chance. Dont just stand pat.

Lol who?
Quote:Lol who?
Bryan Walters maybe - he's got decent hands and is the most experienced WR on the roster.

Anybody? Stevie johnson would have been a nice get. Or Crabtree. Anything. But when you dont start taking snaps from guys for poor play they get complacent im sure

And is super slow. And if he isn't getting open do we go to the next guy? Practice squad? Or do the most logical thing and stick with ARob who is the best WR we have on paper and hope he turns it around?

How we getting Crabtree or Stevie Johnson? Where you calling for these guys before hand? Everything that ARob did in camp led everyone to believe this would be a big year for him. It's not like he had an awful camp and we just hoped it would work out. Since Crabtree and Johnson aren't available, who we getting?
Nate Washington got 100 yards and he was a receiver a lot of people brought up.
Shorts was solid and caught 5 for 57.
Not having a decent veteran WR is hurting us at the moment.
My one hope is that Lee comes back and becomes a monster but I know the likelihood of that happening is basically nill.
And i dont want to be a downer, but a lot of it has to do with the quarterback. Just because those guys dropped those balls doesnt mean bortles shouldnt give them more opportunities deep late in the game. He just got super conservative.
Good quarterbacks make everybody look better. You see that pretty quickly with the guys who have "it". Blake hasnt shown that yet. And if it doesnt get a whole lot better I'm not sure he deserves a third year to prove himself.
It may look a bit better at times, but from a scoring perspective, this team isnt much better than it was with gabbert
Quote:Life's tough. Marrone isn't an upgrade. He's got his fingerprints all over the offense already. You're whining that this is all Gus' fault. Marrone is in on the offensive play calling.
The title of assistant head coach is rarely used and is typically a title (and salary- Provide justification for higher pay for a non-coordinator and Marrone is the best OL coach in the NFL & a former HC so it is also out of respect) designation only and the responsibilities typically don't change. It is Marrone's job to fix the OLine which he has improved greatly even though they let I think 5 sacks or 4 in this game?
The entire game's offensive play calling was Olson against the Panthers, and I havent read or seen anything to state otherwise.
Is it me or are the Jags not the only team looking extremely sloppy? Every game ive seen so far both teams have been making a ton of mistakes. Bridgewater's accuracy is horrible right now.
Quote:We get it. You need to blame Gus. Have fun with that.
It's Olson's first game as the OC for this staff. It didn't go well. It's still just ONE game. If we're still having this conversation in week 12, then there's a problem.
honestly I don't know if I can say it didn't go well from a play calling perspective. among a few other things it came down to a few costly misses. BB seemed to be missing the touch pass on a few routes that I saw him hit repeatedly in the preseason. AR had a nasty uncontested drop on a 3rd down. Just little things that should have been automatic seemed to be off in that game. As an oc or hc, there isn't much more you could have done when the execution wasn't there.
One thing that stand out is the lack of half time adjustments and consistently looking bad in the 2nd half. That to me is a glaring problem. Also, we played scared offensively. It's as if we are afraid to be aggressive. We were very agressive week 3 in preseason and we just completely abandoned what was working. It is puzzling. Why are we playing conservative? We have absolutely nothing to lose. Air it out. 2nd and 8 yards to goal and we run? What kind of horse poop is that? Why are we afraid to jump into the new NFL?

I watched bortles miss some touch throws on wheel routes and corner end zone throws that he's hit effortlessly in the past. Thomas or Lewis should be our go to guy if we are going to the air in that situation, I don't know why we didn't use te's with as many short passes as we threw yesterday. I can only speculate it was because we needed them to help block once Luke went down.

If past history didnt suggest that this is more than "rust" id be more inclined not to panic
