The starters have scored 15 points in 2.5 quarters. That's 24 PPG. That's a top 10 offense....
If we're talking bout stats...

Great! How many TDs?

Why does it matter? If we're averaging 24 points a game I could care less if it came from 12 safetys

....or 8 field goals.

do you think we're a top 10 offense?

Uh huh riiight.

Right because that's how a lot of teams win consistently.
I personally love seeing Blake improve, along with the OLine(which is a huge deal if everything works out) along with seeing Arob and Drob work out. Seeing us actually march down the field is awesome. Yeah I'm bummed we have only what one TD(blakes run) to celebrate so far this preseason. However I love seeing us not go 3 and out.

I still believe we have issues/struggle over all and win around 6 games, however I still see improvement even without Lee,Thomas,Yeldon and a few other folks(Marks and company on D)

Not yet no. But he wants to talk stats, so statistically our 1st team offense is on track to score 24 PPG. If you average 24, who cares how you score it is the issue. Points are points.

Yes we need to score more tds, but my point is he's upset about the lack of preseason tds, but we're scoring a pretty good amount of points... Statistically.

Not to mention the whole "further along" comment is about the install and grasp of plays...

Fair enough. But who ever is on the field is who we have to rely on. So injuries or not tds have to come from somewhere.

Wrong! I used stats as part of my overall concern of the offense. Don't change what I've said. I specifically mentioned parts of our offense that are not improved yet no one wants to discuss that. They only want to use part of my opinion to pigeon hole my point of view to use in there own arguments. It's weak.
The Colts 1st team offense has 1 td. Their entire team has 2 tds total. Is their offense broken too?

Awful.

TY BUST

Luck BUST

4th place in the AFCS, at best.

Stats.
They haven't been punching it in (that hold on Joeckel was a weak call, you see that on a lot of running plays), but I've been impressed with the running game and how Bortles is controlling the offense and the pocket. Now, the drops are frustrating and have been holding the offense back, but I can't wait until the Detroit game. It will be a great test and preparation against a good defense.

This will be the first season in a long time where the offense might have to take care of the defense, and keep them off the field. Because the defense doesn't look very good.

And they've scored on every drive with Bortles at QB, right?

The colts don't have a history of poor offense do they? But getting back to the jags what tells you that we are going to flip a switch come regular season. Other teams have the luxury of using preseason as a tune up. The jags offense on the other hand doesn't have that type of history and they need to be able to score tds preseason or not. So far they haven't been able to. Am I wrong?

I was going to point this out as well.  You could assume he is talking about success when he says further along, but it is far more likely he is referring to implementation.  This is the first year in this new offense, and both Gus and Greg talked about installing the offense in stages.  If the players are understanding their routes and responsibilities ahead of schedule, then the offense is further along.  It makes more sense to view his statement in that context.  In the first 2 games this year, we saw JT fail to look back on a pass and Greene run an incorrect route, which means there are implementation issues still, but they are pretty minor.

I do agree we need touchdowns this year, but I don't think that's what Gus is talking about when he says the offense is further along than anticipated.

That said, I do have hope for this team this year.  The biggest thing that has been different from the previous years is that we are actually moving the ball against other teams.  In years past, we got all this hype during the practices and training camp, but it was non-existent when the lights came on.  As long as we are converting third downs and getting in the red zone, I think we can have hope the errors will get cleaned up, especially once the players can play with out thinking about the x's and o's.

It appears the main crux with THUNDER CAT is obviously the lack of TD's, since that has been mentioned a few (hundred) times.

What I took from him saying "Further along" was the fact that this is a new offense for the team and they're actually moving the ball really well. Picking up 3rd downs, which is something we're not used to, and running with good authority. They look, for the most part, to be a functioning offense. Our offense looked worlds better than a super bowl winning QB's offense, so saying "Further along" is a completely acceptable and TRUE comment from the head coach.

Side note: Blake acknowledged the need for 6 instead of 3, so I don't think they're all so dumb as to think field goals are the pinnacle.
