This corruption is, I think, the number one cause of most our economic and environmental problems.

When you are really tired of the corruption you'll vote Libertarian, or at the very least cease voting for incumbents regardless of party.

I typically vote third party, though I vote Green Party because I align more with them than Libertarians.  I have voted Libertarian however when no Green Party Candidate is an option.

I vote in the primaries. In the last 3 elections I've voted against the incumbent... but I told my self in the general elections I would never vote republican again, that was back in 2006.

I understand the sentiment but we need new blood up there regardless of party, preferably 3rd party but I will take what I can get

I don't vote along party lines at all.

 

I'll let out a little secret.  Alvin Brown(D) was our Mayor.  I didn't vote for him when he won, but I was pretty much satisfied with what he did in this city.  So in this last election, I actually voted for him.   :woot:   Shocker, I know.  A conservative votes for a democrat.  I never have and never will vote along party lines.  Party for the most part means nothing to me.

I'm in Putnam county but I remember the add's on TV and the Radio, I remember thinking Alvin Brown cut government, cut his salary and was doing a good job from what I could tell, I would've voted for him to. The other guy just played the turd throwing game that turns me off to a candidate quick.

I honestly don't think I can bring myself to vote republican.  You're a bigger man than me...  Remember that website in that one thread where you could determine which candidates you most agree with.  

 

My top 3 were Bernie, Hillary and Rand Paul...  Of course you know I'd take Bernie over the other 2...  But I think the closest I can say about my open-mindedness (or lack thereof) is that I'd have to think long and hard before voting for Hillary if Rand was the Republican Nominee...

 

One of these day's I'll sure we'll have a discussion about why we vote the way we do.  I'm sure I'll eventually explain my position and why I no longer trust Republicans but it's not just irrational hatred for them.  

 

It's all in one's ideology, I guess.  One that develops while living life.  At one point, I was the hardest of hard-core fiscal conservatives...  But I learned alot and went through the 30 years realizing that fiscal conservatives never seem to getting around to fixing problems for the economic/social class I reside in.  But that's just been my point of view.  I know alot of us differ on these topics...

In a way I think Bush got a bad rap on his dealings with the middle class and the poor.  George Bush redistributed wealth.  It's not an opinion, it's a fact.  Hr increased the Earned income tax credit (free money) to working families.  I think he did two stimulus packages at near a quarter billion dollars each.  And most of those were direct checks cut to working americans, not a contract to build a tunnel for some turtles.  Michael Savage still calls him a socialist.  

 

Are we really at a point in our public discourse where handing out 3k plus per dependent and another half a billion dollars to the middle and lower class is seen as apathy?

I think what did Brown in was his failure to deal with the police union.  That was his biggest flaw and unfortunately for him it was all over the news leading right up to the election.

I was raised "as a democrat" in that my family has always voted for democrats no matter what.  It wasn't until my later teens and early 20's that I started paying attention to politics, and started to form my own opinion.  Over the years I've voted for candidates of both parties, the majority of them republicans.  I try to pay attention not only to what candidates say, but also their track record.

 

Of the three that you mentioned, I would vote for Rand Paul.  I could never bring myself to vote for either of the other two.  I just don't agree with much, if anything that Bernie Sanders has to say, and I think that Hillary Clinton is perhaps the most dishonest and corrupt politicians in the race with Donald Trump being a close second.
