The only good thing is our D seems to get up for the good teams. But I do have the fear of this as well. Like in 06. But we went nowhere in the playoffs in '05, so really can't compare to that. Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. Cutting Hurns makes the offense one dimensional? lol Hurns was/is an average receiver at best. He has a lot of heart but he wasn't the linchpin in the Jags offensive strategy. ![]() (03-20-2018, 12:55 PM)SignMeUpAtQB Wrote:(03-20-2018, 12:52 PM)PF* Wrote: I'll choose to ignore the whole money side of the Hurns debate ("if we had cut him earlier, we could've used the money...blah, blah") b/c I don't know the details You keep saying this. They could've cut Hurns at any time. If there was someone they wanted and they needed to use the money allocated for Hurns, they would've cut him dead on the spot. That wasn't the case.

Report: Jaguars part ways with TE Marcedes Lewis
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...edes-lewis The Jaguars' cuts weren't limited to just Allen Hurns on Tuesday. Per the Associated Press, Jacksonville is also slated to move on from longtime tight end Marcedes Lewis this week. I think the concussion concerns are a legit factor in his release coupled with the price tag. My guess is the team feels they can replace him in the draft cheaply. I like Hurns, but I think he can be upgraded for a lot less coin. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

can't believe people are surprised by this. They weren't going to pay $14-16 million on two receivers who haven't surpassed 500 receiving yards the past two years.
Now go draft St. Brown as a developmental WR and the position is set
Hurns is a legend but yeah just too much money to pay for him. Honestly would prefer a healthy Hurns on the team than Lee or Moncrief but the contract made it too hard.

He hasn't done jack in the NFL. (03-20-2018, 01:37 PM)TheSchmidt Wrote: can't believe people are surprised by this. This is a mistake. I don't like it. I don't care what anyone says, when he's healthy, he's better than Lee.

Whether it would have helped us or not, it still would have made more sense then than now. So they cut him now when there is no market for them or the player. Makes sense. I just hope he can shake the concussion bug. However, they only get worse with each one. Agree. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not forced to retire this season or next should he have more. Hurns, Arob... the club (and their doctors) knows them better than any other team. They had a number, and the numbers didn't match. Unfortunate, but completely understandable.

He projects well to the split-end spot and posted an impressive 15 yards per reception this past season.

@josinaanderson . @JosinaAnderson says on ESPN that the Jaguars asked Allen Hurns to take a pay cut around combine time and he asked for his release

They held onto him until they signed someone to fill his spot (Moncrief). It also wouldn't surprise me if they held onto him for as long as possible and attempted to trade him before cutting him. They couldn't and here we are. But again, his contract wasn't the deciding factor in whether or not they could retain Colvin or sign some big contract free agent as you keep suggesting.
