It is weird that not one single enterprising reporter has bothered to find out where he is, what he's doing, how he's doing, and whether he intends to apply for reinstatement. I know the team can't talk to him, but there's no ban on reporters looking him up.
Personally, I don't think he's coming back.
Quote:I still can't believe that people think that Twitter picture from the Casino is Blackmon.
In order for it to be true, the "other" guy in that photo would have to be around 6' 9" tall.
He is.
Guy I work with knows him.

You'll understand that while I do value your input, I'm going to remain skeptical about it.
Besides, when I see it come on Dilla's Timeline first, I
always assume it's false.

The guy who actually posted the picture did come back later on Twitter and say he's like 6'7".
Regardless, who cares what Blackmon is doing right now?
You might as well forget about Blackmon.

Funny coming from you considering you were the ringleader of the "he's young and can do what he wants / old people just don't get it" crowd...

You're right, I was. Many NFL players do exactly what they want and get away with it. Justin Blackmon didn't. Simple.
I just wish he would come back. The fact that we haven't heard about him recently scares me and makes me wonder.

Logistically, it is important. Actually, I would love to see Blackmon make a comeback, and be a great underdog story. But otherwise, if he were in football shape, and was a real threat on the field, we might not be talking about drafting a WR in the first few rounds this year.

This front office has been very forthcoming when they say that Blackmon is viewed as a luxury and not something they have any control over. Logistically, he's not on this team as far as they're concerned, and may never come back. That's been their approach since the suspensions began.
He's not going to be in football shape. There's no way he could possibly accomplish that being out of the game for basically 2 years.
Nobody in the organization is saying the team is going to pursue a WR early in the draft. That's simply media speculation. If you're relying on the media or fans to get a feel for what the team is going to do in the draft, you're almost certainly going to be misled. They don't have any idea where the front office is leaning. That should be crystal clear after what transpired last year. If you're using the visit list to back up that speculation, good luck. They brought in 10 guys last year. How many guys that were brought in for visits wound up on the team? 2? They're doing their due diligence by bringing in the top tier players in the draft. At the end of the day, they have to be prepared for any scenario.
The odds of them using a first or second round pick on another receiver are about the same as them drafting another QB in the early rounds. Too many other real needs.
Now, that doesn't preclude them from drafting another receiver somewhere in the draft. I just don't see them using early picks for that position.

Why? I don't really follow the logic here. If he's doing what's expected to be done with rehab and everything else, less news is good news. At the end of the day, it's nobody's business besides Blackmon himself and those who he opts to share details with. That's why you're not hearing anything. We've heard enough to know that he's supposedly been in rehab and taking it seriously, and that he does plan to return to the league. That's really all we're going to get as fans.
It's a good thing the team isn't sitting on their hands relying on him to return. If he comes back, great. If not, it's not going to have an impact on what they're doing.
FBT is right ^
That pic doesn't look like JB to me.

I'm sure reporters have attempted to get information through every possible source. If he's not sharing, there's really nothing they can do. What he's dealing with is at its base a medical condition that is protected and private. If reporters try to reach out to him, and he doesn't respond to their inquiries, what are they supposed to do? Report that they haven't been able to talk to him? We've pretty much seen that.
Blackmon has never struck me as a guy who is going to air his laundry in the media. Quite the opposite actually. So, if some enterprising reporter did reach out to him, odds are they didn't get very far with their inquiry because he simply didn't speak to them.
Blackmon's last arrest was July 23rd of 2014, during suspension and less than a year ago. Unfortunately, I do think that will alter his timeline to gain access back into the league. I would imagine for privacy sake in this particular case, the league would not announce when he applies for reinstatement, but solely when it has been granted. A telltale sign to me that he is not anticipating being back soon was his not showing up at Bortle's passing camp. If he had an anticipation of coming back, I would imagine that would have or should have been on his agenda (and he was allowed as it was not an official team function). I am not counting on him returning for this season.
Quote:Most def jb in that pic.
If that was JB in that pic, then we can forget about him, because he looked way out of shape.
He's coming back. He's coming back. He's coming back... oh wait did I type that, I thought I was returning home to Kansas for a minute.
The rules for reinstatement are quite simple, you have to keep your nose clean for 12 months before you can get reinstated.
His last transgression was, I believe, last July. I'm not sure why people think that not hearing anything right now is some how telling. The fact that we haven't heard anything at this point should be expected.
If we haven't heard anything by July then it may be time for speculation, but as of right now, he is still serving the terms of his suspension. There really isn't anything more telling now about his situation than there was 8 months ago

Well put.
Wait for July/August, people.
