Quote:People are so desperate to find additional fault.

He's pointing at the guy with one hand and holding a cell phone with the other. The only "glass" he is holding is in your imagination.
that's a cell phone? Then I apologize and stand corrected.
Quote:I would really forget about him playing for the team. Especially after the Vegas photo lol. He had to sell his house last year and was seen in Vegas!?! Really? I won't say I gave up on him a while ago but I saw the writing when he got the suspensions basically in consecutive years.
Did he HAVE to sell his house or did he just decide to sell his house? There is a big difference between the two...How do you know he HAD to sell his house?
Quote:It is weird that not one single enterprising reporter has bothered to find out where he is, what he's doing, how he's doing, and whether he intends to apply for reinstatement.   I know the team can't talk to him, but there's no ban on reporters looking him up.

Personally, I don't think he's coming back.
How would they look him up when no one knows where he is? There is a reason the NFL doesn't talk about these things and having reporters "looking him up" is one of the reasons...

Oh, come on.   Any enterprising reporter could find the guy.

There are probably a lot of people who are curious about what is happening with him.   Why no reports at all?   It's like he never existed.

I would bet the Jaguars already know.

I hope this was an ironic statement.

Uhhhh...ain't no Eqypt River in France I ever heard of. I think you better check your facts Wink
In an age when nothing is private, when every move of every public figure is publicized and analyzed to death, Justin Blackmon has managed to go completely dark.   We know absolutely nothing.   I just think that's weird.   At the very least I would expect someone like Peter King or Gene Frenette or somebody to put in their weekly article, "I called up Justin Blackmon to see how he's doing, and he said he'd rather not talk about it."

It's like he's a figment of our imagination.  It's like he never existed.   I'm starting to think we'll see Bigfoot before we see Justin Blackmon again.

He's like that airplane that disappeared off the radar in the South Pacific and they haven't even found a fragment and have no idea what happened to it.   That's Justin Blackmon.   Gone.   Poof.

Could be a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe he went incommunicado to avoid pressures from bad influences or maybe he is too drunk to bother answering the phone.

Hard to say.

Quote:If Blackmon did indeed enter into rehab and completed the program, which is verifiable, and he's able to show that he's remained clean since completing the program, I would think reinstatement is a real possibility. Even with the July 2014 arrest, I would think he would have a good case in any appeal for reinstatement considering how long he's been suspended. If it went to arbitration, he'd probably win.

We'll see soon enough if he applies for reinstatement.

What I don't understand is why he would receive more punishment or why it is up in the air? It's just sillY. If he is up for reinstatement and has done nothing wrong since then then he should be reinstated.
Quote:That guy at the casino was not Blackmon.
You need to be in the substance abuse program if you think that's not him. Does he have an evil twin that you know about?

Even if they're using the arrest last summer as the line in the sand, that would make him eligible for reinstatement before training camp.  He should be back on the field this season.  He shouldn't receive more punishment.  He's going to have to apply for reinstatement to see what the league will do.  He hasn't taken that step yet.

Seems pretty argumentative but i'll play along..... I honestly don't have any idea if he had to or not. It is all speculation on my behalf. I'll say this though; there are tons of professional athletes that have made millions more than Blackmon ever will and are currently bankrupt and eating at soup kitchens. Blackmon has proven to me that he has very poor decision making skills.

As a guy who is playing under a new rookie contract, signed a contract that stated he would have to pay back some of his guaranteed money if he got in trouble, ended up getting in trouble, got suspended indefinitely, got a possion charge while suspended indefinitely, and hasn't seen a game check since November 1, 2013 I'm going to take a wild guess that he needed to sell his house to make sure he had some money to not end up completely broke.

Maybe he decided to sell it on his own but Justin doesn't strike me as the guy who is quite knowledgeable of the current real estate market trends. He can't make the simple decision to do drugs at his home or get a buddy to drive him home after a night or heavy drinking so I highly doubt he would make the calculated assumption of knowing the CMA, DTI or FMV of real estate.

I could be very wrong about this. I'm just stating my opinion with no inside knowledge. Nothing more nothing less.

He probably did need the money.  So?  Maybe that will help to slap him back into reality.  We don't know, nor should we care what his financial situation is.  None of our business.  My hope is that he figures this thing out and turns it around.

Let's remember that he's a very young guy who had some significant demons to deal with.  He's made his mistakes.  How he responds to this is what matters at this point.  There have been guys with far bigger problems who managed to turn things around.  There's nothing to indicate he couldn't do the same thing. Most of his issues are tied to a lack of maturity.  Hopefully he's done some growing up over the past year and a half.

Yup.

The reinstatement is a process, not something automatically handed to him.

First step is for him to apply for reinstatement, which hasn't yet happened.

I'm with you. His financial business is his, I was just responding to a quote. I'm not down on him as a person. Hopefully he does get it back together all I'm saying is that he is in "prove it"mode with me. He has a long history of this type of behavior dating back before he was drafted. He had no issue with putting millions on the line so to me he seems to not really understand the gravity of the situation. He is an adult and will do what he feels he should. I see this as another situation of wasted talent but hopefully I'm wrong. It just really bothers me when I see these guys blessed with this type of talent and throw away there ability to go in history and make millions just because they can't stay away from weed or alcohol for a few years.

He has shown me he feels drugs are more important than a career in the NFL with his actions. I don't say that to be down on him its just what he has shown me. He doesn't even seem like a butthead from interviews. Seems to be a really likable guy. His priority just seems to be the sauce and the wacky tabacky. Nothing wrong with that if thats what he chooses. As a fan of the jaguars though, I choose to not hold out hope for him to come back to the team.

If he's dealing with addiction issues, and that's what it certainly appears to be, drugs and alcohol are simply required for him to survive as far as he's concerned.  There are guys who have had similar problems who have been able to clean up and have good NFL careers.  Hopefully he winds up in that category, and not as another cautionary tale.
How does everyone know he hasn't applied for reinstatement? I thought this was done confidentially and no-one would know if he had applied yet or not.
