Quote:"Additionally, psychiatrists and psychologists conduct differing research. Psychiatrists typically focus on concepts related to psychiatric medication, while psychologists usually focus on concepts related to research and clinical psychology.
Psychiatry and psychology share similarities, but there are also differences existing between these disciplines, the major one being that psychiatrists can prescribe medication."
Now again, the psychologist COULD have done that. but i have seen posts where j dub has mentioned medication before (besides her lipitor) so unless she was diagnosed in lousiana or new mexico, it wasnt the psychologist prescribing her the meds.
The fact that a psychologist cannot prescribe drugs does
not mean he/she cannot diagnose an ASD in a client.
Quote:that website doesnt even have the option to pull up a psychiatrist and distinguish between the two. im pretty sure (since i cant actually prove what theyre doing there) that theyre just lumping the field together.
Yes, it does. I'd show you how, but since you seem to be the expert here, surely you can navigate a simple web site.

Ok, challenge accepted.
I showed this thread to my wife, along with several other JW-heavy threads from the recent past. My wife has a Master's in Psychology and is currently a PhD candidate, and spent much of her time as an undergrad working in a lab that dealt with autistic children. Her immediate reaction was that JW seemed to be "trying too hard", her words, not mine, and that the symptoms JW kept pointing to were inconsistent with her attitude and mannerisms in the past. Asperger's, my wife reasoned, is something that causes you to not understand those around you, not something that causes you to post "***OFFICIAL***" threads about topics that are already being discussed ad nauseum elsewhere, then complain loudly when the lack of any reason for your thread to exist is pointed out. She even questioned whether someone with Asperger's would be comfortable participating in a message board to the extent and nature that JW does, especially considering the beating she takes from other posters here.
If my wife who, unlike all of you, is actually well on her way to becoming a clinical psychologist is wrong, I'll gleefully eat my words publicly along with Achilles. Thing is, when I question whether someone is actually suffering from AS or just playing for the lulz, I'm going to trust what my wife says over what a poster that I've suspected for a couple years now of trolling has to say in her defense.

Awesome!
My wife, who has a Masters in Special Ed, says that an Aspie would spend hours stressing over a single post or response while trying to type it out. That the sheer number, minute time gaps, and literal quality of JDub's posts are not indicative of someone with Aspergers. She simply writes too well, too quickly and too often, which in a way is a compliment.

regardless, it doesnt matter. what matters is reality. in reality j dub is specifically avoiding any and all posts that involve her meeting me.
i will leave it at that. i have offered to potentially pay for her and her mother to go to two gators home games for free next season.
if she doesnt want to take me up on that offer, then i will take it as avoidance of being proven a fraud and no internet articles or definition of professions are going to change that.

i dont have a degree in the matter and am no expert, but those have been my feelings for quite a while, pretty much to a T.
i appreciate your wife taking the time to look and give her opinion.

My wife thinks I'm nuts for asking her to take a look and give her opinion...

Maybe MJF has a very unique and rare form of AS, and not the common form that most people have.
She could have some of the common symptoms that others have, but she also has other, more rare symptoms that are not found but in the rarest of rare people with AS.
Just a rare type of AS, that very few have.
Or maybe, just maybe, she was misdiagnosed.

So at times she has complimentary AS, and other times she has selective AS.
Interesting.

So, basically your wife confirmed for both Achilles and me what we've been trying to explain to everyone else on here, and that is that JW is full of crap. Tell her I said thank you.
Are there "degrees" (for lack of a better word,) of AS? Say 10 is having every AS symptom in the book and 1 only being mildly affected?
Quote:Are there "degrees" (for lack of a better word,) of AS? Say 10 is having every AS symptom in the book and 1 only being mildly affected?
At this point she is either a liar, a troll, or just a plain crazy person. If she does have AS it would only be a mild form. As stated earlier by one other poster's wife, she posts too well, too often, and tries too hard to be someone with full blown AS. If she is lying about this, she needs to end the game right now and apologize not only to every other poster on this board, but also people with real disabilities like my Uncle, and people with real autism/learning disorders.
Oddly enough, after TJBender's wife discredited her, she's been awfully quiet since then. She mentioned a user on here that took her to a Jaguars game a few years ago but that she "can't remember his username". And as far as I know, NOBODY on this MB has ever stepped forward and said that they've met JW in real life. I was annoyed with her behavior at first, but if she's really been playing a game with us all this time and trying to pretend that she has a disability, well then I am really angry with her. For real.
Not that my opinion matters, but I have been on this board from the beginning and the ones before it, though my post count doesn't show it. I have read many of JW's posts and my opinion is that they are not that of an individual with Aspergers. Of course my opinion would get you free belly button lint!
As someone with personal experience (step-son), I'm willing to bet this was a misdiagnosis in her teenage years. Why is this significant? Signs pointing towards Aspergers would have been there from a very early age and become more progressive; 2 years and up. Medication has been previously mentioned and this is what strikes curiosity. No doubt she was prescribed medication for a social anxiety/disorder, as there is no medication specifically for Aspergers. The misdiagnoses would be as a result of a specific medication side effect. I would almost bet most likely she is suffering from a form of Tourettes, which oddly enough is a side effect of most stimulant medications and also shares similar symptoms with Aspergers, but at it's lowest form is not so debilitating that normal social interaction or even message board interaction could occur.
Not a Dr., but stayed at a Holiday Inn once!

There is no "rare form of AS." The disorder manifests itself in different ways for different people (I think that's the right word). No two Aspies are affected exactly the same way. For example not all Aspies hate having their toenails clipped. Experts now lump five related conditions together as "autism spectrum disorders," so people can say I am "on the autistic spectrum" whether I have AS or not. Does that make sense?
Quote:So at times she has complimentary AS, and other times she has selective AS.

I have no idea what you are talking about. There is only one AS.

You are so full of crap. You've spent all this time saying that you have AS and now you're saying "well, maybe I do or don't, but I must be on the spectrum." Stop the game please.

Sort of. Some people are affected more severely than others. However, AS is on the same scale as what people call "full-blown autism" (like the Rain Man character), so different diagnoses are given to people with different degrees of malfunction.

Soo i feel like crap cause i have occasionaly said some stuff i probably wouldnt have said had i known you have AS, soo i apologize... It actually makes alot of since on some levels because i wondered if you just didnt understand sarcasm or facetious comments... Though, if you are just trolling, thats pretty messed up.

an internet diagnosis by someone who is not certified in the field (yet) is not considered proof...get some experience in the field...book learning is a wonderful thing, but the real learning is done in the field...In no way am I putting the lady down who is on her way into this field...I actually commend her...But she has no experience other than what the books say and that's not everything...How much validity would you put in someone delivering your baby when the only experience they had was reading text books and writing papers, how about heart surgeon...
