Quote:So if it's Obama's list it is bad policy right? That's how it works. Obama = baaaad

Over the last 8 years, I don't even need to know the damn policy.. If that idiot is against it, it must be good.
Quote:The bottom line is other countries really dislike Americans. Even the ones we have friendly government relations with. Our immigration policies aren't going to make them dislike us even more. They don't need any more excuses than the fact we are known as loud and arrogant Americans that meddles in world affairs.

But what you are still hung up on thinking is that this is a Muslim ban. The countries on the list only represent less than 8% of Muslim populations. What they do have in common is know radicalization and they also have no diplomatic process of vetting or assisting the US with vetting the folks that want to come into this country. Whether we currently have refugees or not from these countries residing in the US is irrelevant at this point. There were some mistakes and laws being ignored. The country is moving forward in upholding and fixing known issues. You yourself said you support vetting, but you still argue against. Do you believe you can move freely from one country to another without being subjected to those countries policies? Why aren't we allowed to have a US interest without fear of disdain from outside our borders? What is your end game or the point you are trying to make in all this? Not the media's words, not some other countries words, but your words as a U.S. citizen.

My words..

I don't think 1.7B people want to kill me. I don't think we can call ourselves a world leader when we take such a drastic action out of fear.  Not when Canada is taking in significantly more Syrian refugees than we are and neither the US nor Canada have had any terrorist attacks from people vetted and proven to be families caught in the cross fire.  I do not think the solution is giving Muslims reason to believe all Americans hate them or are afraid of them. My end game is to let logic show how this action flies in the face of 200+ years of our history. I fear America is losing sight of who we are. How are we the land of the free when our own president is censoring entire departments of our government to prevent dissent when he makes a series of business moves in favor of big oil which align with his interests? How are we the home of the brave when we are afraid to provide safe haven for the most vulnerable people involved in the Syrian conflict because of fears blown completely out of proportion? How are we stronger when we distance ourselves from our allies and give our enemies ammunition to advertise how we are at war with Islam? You say we have no vetting process, yet we have vetted thousands and they are living among us without this boogeyman, bad Skittle rogue terrorist ever rearing its head. Now we are going to go to an EXTREME vetting? The process we have been using has not shown to have flaws.  But we need to detain a 5 year old for hours and prevent a Syrian refugee from accepting his full scholarship to MIT? America couldn't use another Steve Jobs? That's being pragmatic and tough? Or is it being shortsighted and afraid. How can a travel ban make me feel less safe and comfortable than I did without it?
Steve Jobs was Syrian.

Who knew?

Quote:I'm proud of you. This mostly makes sense. Far more so than your OP.

A few points.. properly vetted how? Having applied for and received green cards? The new "truth" of Trump calls for "extreme vetting" and he gave zero notice to travelers or airports. I don't condone letting anyone in our country without knowing anything about them. Your analogy to a kid's bedroom remains a bit extreme stil in my opinion.

why would you give that kind of intel to prospective bad actors?

You started losing me with that second paragraph, but to the point of Sharia Law.. it would not, could not supersede our legal system as, unlike other countries, we have a separation of church and state (which many on the right forget from time to time). Anyone immigrating here legally would know what rights they have and which ones they do not.

The concern here is not Shariah Law becoming the ratified law of the land.  The concern is that some who take a fundamentalist approach to Shariah Law will act out its more violent tenants and harm innocent people.  Omar Mateen didn't try to get a bill passed, he went to a gun store!

You faded with that last paragraph, but it sounds to me like one incident in California is your basis for telling all Muslim people they are not welcome here. That's the message they are getting.

7 countries were touched by this EO.  That leaves 40 plus Muslim Majority countries that have no change including indonesia.  Of those 7, 6 are only 4 month pauses for security views.  The idea that ALL MUSLIMS are unwelcome here is a far left anti-conservative meme to drive public oppinion.  It has nothing to do with the truth of this policy.

So I will pause here.. assume we had a time machine before that one attack. Would this measure of extreme vetting have stopped the attack? How so? Are you proposing any citizens not born here give up certain rights?

The woman had radical propoganda on her Social Media.  Basic background checking in her home country would have allowed anyone who took the time to see that she was associated with Radical groups.  Every person from countries associated with organized terror should have to affirmatively prove who they are, what values they hold, and their intentions toward this country.  That is the price that they would have to pay for the PRIVILEGE of entry into this great land.

My comment that all lives matter is simple. Families are fleeing wars they did not start. Fleeing violence they want no part of. And we have allowed Islamophobia to paralyze us with fear and prevent us from giving asylum to those who have few places to go. So the point is simple. All lives do not matter to those who coined that phrase in response to BLM. Because there's a noticeable asterisk next to it.

And that is not true.  As i stated before, caring for someone doesn't mean letting them pick out any room in your house or negate the sovereignty of a home owner or in this case a nation.  We can show our compassion for our fellow man by helping those who need it through the establishment of SAFE ZONES in their own countries.  This idea that the ONLY WAY we can help people is to allow unfettered access to the Mainland US is childish.

Moreover, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other oil Rich Majority countries have the ability to take these people.  As the Spiritual heads of certain parts of Islam Saudi Arabia has to maintain the infrastructure to house bed and feed millions of Islamic pilgrims every year.  What reason could they possibly cite for not being at the front of the line?  SECURITY!!!!  Why aren't people asking them to step up and shoulder the burden?  We are we with out 20 trillion dollars of debt, 95 million people out of the labor force, and ballooning unfunded entitlement liabilities always looked at to commit cultural suicide in the name of INCLUSION?

Quote:Perhaps you saw how the House of Commons and their response to the travel ban. Unanimous outrage on both sides of the house (if only our Congress could agree on something). 1.5 million people signed a petition to reject Trump's state visit (in a country of 64 million). Google Nadhim Zahawi, a conservative (Tory) MP and what he had to say. Whatever you're amateur analysis of Europe may be, Britain isn't subscribing.

This is shameful.  I cite the basic fact that Rape has gone up, Crime has gone up, Hate Crimes against the gay community have gone up and we have seen a string of Terror Attacks in the European theater and you come at me with what some Bureaucrat has to say.  So if a woman gets raped in the street and a politician blames the way she was dressed it didn't really happen then is what you're saying?  #womensmarch #alllivesmatter #liberalmonopolyoncompassion #hypocrisy #outoftouch #culturalsuicide

nevermind that 54% of Great Britain voted to leave the EU.  Nevermind the fact that Angella Merkel herself is having to campaign on banning Muslim Garb.  Nevermind the fact that in France they literally PUT MEN WITH MACHINE GUNS ON A BEACH to make sure people don't wear HIJABS while swiming.  Nadhim Zaawi says everythings fine and dandy so everything is going to be okay!!!
You didn't Google Nadhim Zahawi or what he said, did you..

Britain and much of the world is telling Trump to go [BLEEP] himself..  this is not fake news or alernative facts.

No.  Just did.  This is a lie.  And a sad one.  The order gives discretion for certain special or inordinate cases.  The british MP would be able to see his kid.  But it would have been a real Tear jerker...

IT'S A 4 MONTH PAUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  The earth will keep spinning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you admit you just posted a response about the guy earlier without having any clue or context on who he is or what he said or did. And you wonder why I almost never give you any credibility.

He is a Tory (conservative) MP and British citizen who is banned from entering the US because he was born in Iraq. Imagine if you couldn't see your kids for several months despite the fact you are a high ranking member of the British government (and a [BAD WORD REMOVED] conservative). He joined Ed Miliband in heading a meeting of the House of Commons today to urge the government to rescind the invitation to Trump.  The vote was unanimous. That is like Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi creating a unified front. Can you imagine that ever happening? No. But both sides of the aisle took turns [BAD WORD REMOVED] all over Trump and saying he had no right to stand before their government and speak. It was a unanimous bashing of this policy. They called it a "total disaster" (where have I heard that before) for peace and security and said we need a trade deal with America, but we shouldn't be trading our values to get it.

I don't think the current PM has the courage to stand up to Trump (she was bashed for letting him walk all over her last week), but I do think he will face a [BAD WORD REMOVED] storm when/if he does go as the whole country had protests and over 1.5 million people have petitioned for his visit to be cancelled. This man is a national and international embarrassment.

So you admit that you and Mr. Zahawi don't understand the executive order that you're railing against?

Anyone else catch the photo of the 5 year old kid with his hands behind his back handcuffed by the biceps because his wrists are too thin?

Big, bad America. Terrified by a 5 year old. You think that kid is gonna forget this ever?

If you find this acceptable, you should hurl yourself into a wood chipper.

Well, you have two choices.  You can seek help for your mental illness, or take the easy way out.

You are losing it man. Really worried about you in the long term. Do you have anywhere to go for help?

You're so tough you were threatened by a 5 year old? Probably should build a wall and buy more guns.

The picture is disgusting and not acceptable in any fashion. If you don't think terrorist groups are plastering it on sites everywhere to recruit, you are naive. This one photo will create more terrorists because there is proof in their eyes now that the US is at war with Islam.

Making America great means handcuffing a [BLEEP] 5 year old. I agreed that nobody should mess with Barron Trump as he is a kid. I never engaged in one negative word about him. But this to you is acceptable. Our WH called a 5 year old a threat and you are right there with them? Tell me more about your morals and values.

Where is this photo? Probably Photoshopped. The MSM has ruined any validity they have and nothing is believable anymore.
If there is a Muslim ban.... why not ban India? One of the largest Muslim populations in the world?

I wonder....

Are people really so obtuse they don't get it.... this is a temporary stoppage on new visas from particular nations overrun with ISIS.

Also.. Obama halted for 6 months immigration from Iraq for similar reasons.

Also Obama made this list of countries.

stop your whining and hand wringing over every thing this man does and let this country get better.

Jesus... the last 8 years have been awful enough just being Jaguar fans....
