Quote:Luke "The JOKE" Joeckle needs to hit the weights hard this offseason.

let's hope he hits the weights differently than Mike Brewster did.

He apparently gained weight and got a lot stronger this off-season, but once the playing started he was pushed around like a rag doll again.

I will agree with this as he clearly needs to strengthen up but no amount of weights can instill the nasty factor and he doesnt seem to have it. The false starts alone show he is jumpy before the snap especially in passing situations.

Haha.  I think I used Mike Brewster's weight gaining regimen to full effect this past Thursday.
Quote:To be fair, JPP abuses a lot of OT's..

Same with Jeremy Mincey right?

He hasn't had any FS penalties this year.

I'm not sticking up for Joke, I'm saying JPP is that good that he gives a lot of OT's the fits. Like I said, I was just being fair.

And I showed you that's not really true.

JPP had 3.5 sacks before yesterday.
Regardless, he has a TON of hurries and disrupts the QB.
The Problems I see with the JOKE is he gets beat by all kinds of pass rushes.  He gets speed rushed and power rushed.  He can't block either.  He seems to be a decent run blocker but needs huge improvements in pass blocking.

9 times out of 10 experience whoops strength on Any Sunday. Anyways, Joeckel...no the line, don't have the experience and haven't played as a cohesive unit this whole year.

Beadles is the only guy with experience and he sucks too
Quote:You don't draft any lineman in the top 5, ever.

The days of Boselli and Munoz are gone.

There are no true dominant tackles out there that can eliminate a JJ Watt.. Only those guys are worth it.

Boselli has been talking about that for a while now. For whatever reason, even the best tackles in the league aren't nearly as dominant as tavkles used to be.

I would draft them starting in the mid first or later.

I say get a tackle in rounds 2-4 and hopefully he can push Joeckel and Pasztor.

You should only draft a Hall-of-Fame OL because they're the only one capable of routinely blocking who may turn out to be another Hall-of-Fame player? JJ Watt may turn out to be one of the best DL in history at this pace, and even he has been blocked (shut down) in games before. I do agree, however, that it seems fewer "great" OL appear to be coming through.
So far he looks terrible, but so far he is still young. No he is not Tyron Smith and never will be but the offensive line should grow together.

Actually, Beadles and Linder are the only two who have improved as the season has progressed.
He needs to spend several evenings with Tony.

It should be noted that Lane Johnson, taken 4th by the eagles was popped for PED use this season...

Ziggy Ansah is having a very good year...  I don't know, not alot of those players are jumping out at me...  Does anyone see another player (besides Ansah) that you think is a better choice in hindsight?

Now with that said, I'm not defending Joeckell, he's been pretty bad.  But I'm willing to say that because he's coming off a broken ankle he needs another year before we sell him down the river.

By the way, HE IS NOT A ROOKIE.

Jordan had a blocked punt versus the Dolphins but otherwise unproductive.

Mingo has 1 sack, and the Browns primarily use him in coverage.

I suppose Milliner was OK for a rookie, but he was benched 3 times last year until he improved later in the season. He was placed on IR in Oct of this year; this season was plagued with injuries.

Cooper has been a disappointment and can't play consistently. He has poor technique and can't earn the starting position. While he's still a big boy, he hasn't appeared to maintain his physical condition that he came into the league with. He has been benched several times.

Warmack is terrible.

Joeckel, it appears, is maintaining the status quo for top-10 picks.

Quote:Caldwell said just a week ago that these struggles were expected based on where the team had to go in order to begin rebuilding. He pointed out repeatedly that this is the youngest roster in the league and they're asking a lot of very young players to fill vital roles.  It's part of the process.

He also said that when the team does turn the corner, it's going to happen very quickly.

By your own standard, you want a team competing for a title within 4-5 years of a rebuild.  We're still in the midst of year 2 of a 3 year process.  Maybe you should practice a little patience.
What else is Caldwell going to say? "I sucked really bad in the last draft, this team's record is partially my fault, but I am learning on the fly here folks, so cut me some slack"

I don't think he would ever say that even if it was the truth.

Of course he is going to say "these struggles were expected, but boy when that corner is turned, it's happening quick" (buy those tickets NOW!)

I'm starting to think he's right about turning the corner quickly.   I put 90% of our struggles on our offensive line.   If we can fix that, and thus run the ball effectively, and protect Bortles effectively, we can win a lot of games.   In my opinion.
