Stop blaming Gene. Caldwell and coaches put released most of the old regime's talent. This is Caldwell and Bradley's team and they picked worse talent so far if the record is the indicator. Freaking 5-22 or .185 win pct.

Did someone actually say Cyprien and Alualu are playing well???

Cyprien is the sole reason Hilton scored yesterday. He is consistently in the wrong spot.

There are so many things wrong in this thread that I wasn't able to copy and paste every quote that was terribly wrong.

Some people love going down with the sinking ship!

Apparently Alualu is playing the best football of his life.

What a damn joke.

Would you like to get back on topic now?

On topic lol?  This is one of the dumbest threads here.
Lol, It's always the vogue thing to do here by the apologists.  Blame the previous regime, because anyone currently employed by the Jaguars organization is the best at what they do, but only hamstrung by the previous regime....We suck because of the last regime, but this regime sure isn't helping us not suck...All I want is the Jags to not suck.  Is that too much to ask for?

What are you going to do about it if I don't?

Sorry but if someone says alualu is playing the best football of his life I am going to call them out, because that is just flat out false.

Deal with it.

Hell...if they strove for mediocrity it'd be like a superb owl here!

I'd argue if we hadn't blown this mess up when David was hired we'd be better off. Instead of releasing the ENTIRE secondary we could've upgraded positions when given the chance. Same goes for just about every position, this is the problem with blowing up a roster to rebuild it and why it rarely works. Make one mistake and your behind another 2-3 years, no one gets 5 years to rebuild a roster anymore.
Did Gene do a horrible job? Yes.

That has nothing to do with how poor Bradley is as a coach. Zero halftime adjustments. Terrible game plans (Man to man coverage against Dez?) and he really isn't help my the young players better. More specifically the focal point of this team in Bortles. All the defensive help he does is good but thats a defensive coordinator. Not a head coach.

Its the same reason Rex Ryan will be fired.

I used to be in the same camp but it doesn't bother me now. What players did we let go that would be any sort of difference maker on the 2014 Jaguars roster? Most likely they would be playing the final year of their contracts this season only to be replaced by a rookie next season. At least the rookies are getting valuable playing time in a wash year.

Next year will be a wash year too
I'm with this line of thinking the OP proposed. People just don't get it. I'm not sure if it is due to the Madden or they just don't have a lot of football knowledge to pull from? People have no concept of how bad a roster has and how it gets to the shape its in. In contrast people don't have a concept of how good a roster is and how it gets to that point either. I don't blame people for being upset, they are just fans who get tired of having people laugh when they say they are jaguars fans. Trust me I know.

All I can say is that there is a process. We are 1.7 years into rebuilding a roster from player 1 to 53 right now. We are staring from scratch. And what I mean by scratch is this:

When Del Rio can to the jags in 2003 he had Henderson, Stroud, Meester, Taylor and Smith to start with. Some type of building blocks to help until he built his team and brought in his guys.

Caldwell and Bradley came to a team with..... Nothing.

It is very hard to start from nothing. I cannot think of any other team who started were we did other than the raiders. It is what it is. Gus signed a 4 year contract and Bradley signed a 5 year. I say let it play out and if they suck then we start over again. But it is impossible to start from nothing and build a winner in 1.7 years sorry.

The OP is correct. Coughlin acquired talent that helped Del Rio and they added a few extra pieces to it. Gene added nothing for the next guy. As a result he used up the previous guys talent and placed nothing back in the foundation. Enter Gus and Bradley.

They may not be the guys but they are the one's here now that I believe will at least place down a foundation. Whether they stay to build the full winner remains to be seen but somebody has to lay down the foundation again to build from.

I look back at the 2008 draft. Yes the previous drafts sucked but that one hurt the most. We had 11 picks and walked away with 5 guys. Of those 5 guys, that draft was really only about 2. Those to flamed out. We had an opportunity to rebuild the lines That would currently still be in use now and did not. They did not look for the future in that draft. They focused on the present and paid for it dearly that year and every one since then.

Let that be a lesson we all can learn from. Constantly taking care of tomorrow will always take care of today.

I think 99% of the posters on here realize that 2015 is the year that counts. Caldwell and Khan have pretty much confirmed that. I see you represent the 1% of the posters who have no clue by your demands of immediate results or bust.

I've moved on as well I'm just frustrated, tired of rebuilding.
Here we go again, it's Gene's fault blah blah blah.

This regime BUILT this roster. Not Gene. They kept the ones they wanted and sent the other packing. Had they kept Pot Roast, Smith, Monroe, and some of those guys they could have drafted for depth instead of starters who at this point appears to be not very successful.

You're a loser. Listen to him. It's logical and it's the truth. He couldn't have bonestly said anything more. This is starting from 0-53. They had garbage

Yes i demand immediate results...27 games into the Caldwell/Bradley era and the trend is arrow down regression overall and I'm demanding immediate results? lol.
