I'll take an army of Lions please. How is a donkey gong to kill a lion? C'mon here people... Go watch Planet Earth!
Quote:Again with the Mularkey comment - newsflash - maybe Mularkey WAS a better head coach than Bradley - that still doesn't mean that Mularkey also didn't SUCK and have been fired too!!

That should be SHAD Khan's quote at seasons end when he replaces Bradley, lol Laughing I'd love it. It would be so appropo.

I don't know that MM was a better head coach than Gus, but he sure was a more experienced one.

So far, the way I see it, they are both very close to the bottom on the suck-o-meter.

Gus actually has an upgraded roster over last year and has still managed to go 0-6 so far this season, despite having a couple of winnable games in those first 6.

Gus has 2 homes games to find a win or he will go 0-8 for 2 straight seasons.

That is unacceptable to me, no matter the excuses about how young the team might be.

No Jags coach in history started even 1 season 0-8, not TC in the expansion year or MM in his 1 yr, and now Gus is on pace for 2 of them.

Come on Gus, "DO YOUR JOB"

You should have changed this to:

"An army of donkeys led by a jaguar is better than an army of jaguars led by a donkey"

Then it could have really hit home around here.

Every Sunday I see a few donkeys kill jaguars and their fans, does that count?
Lots of good points made here, the best one to keep in mind is to fire the staff till you get the right one. THis continuity just for the sake of continuity is insane. Players liking the coach should have nothing to do with it, the players ALWAYS say they like their coach, they have a job for Christ's sake!

I will admit my first impressions of Gus was that he was as dumb as a Cheese Sandwich. Sitting there smiling like he had a six pack of red bulls, constantly sipping his water bottle, the guy looked way over his head. I mean that to indicate he did not look cerebral, not the look of landry, or Shula, or even the snaky shark feeders like Reid or Fisher,or the look of a chess player like Harbaugh. A coach who knows the right buttons to push to get the best players on the field playing their best. Gus looks more comfortable with checkers than chess.

So far, he has not impressed. Watching the man burn challenges incorrectly, his clock management, well TMD listed them all, but nothing has changed and he still looks dumb as a cheese sandwich and his team is about as ready to play as the new staff on opening day at a new arbys. They are trying and smiling, but the results leave me less than satisfied.

If we don't win 3 games fire him.

Agreed with your entire post above except for the last line...

If we don't win FOUR games (same as last year) fire him.

While it is completely understandable for fans to want someone to be able to point to and say.....'yes, it's HIS fault'.... that just isn't the situation here.

For starters...

Would we be 'better' if we did fire Gus? Having a turnstile of coaches is not a recipe for winning football....

Can you really evaluate a head coach in just two seasons and with such a high percentage of rookies playing? I think not...

Have you forgotten that Gus has a super bowl ring as a coach? That's tangible proof that if he's given something to work with, he can coach....

Who is out there who is both.... a. available and.... b. proven... to be better than Gus Bradley?

Don't get me wrong; I find that 'Tony Evans' rap that Gus does to be tiresome. Nevertheless, I think that putting this on the head coach at this point is irrational on one hand and impractical on the other. It sucks to be in the situation we've found ourselves; but, given the circumstances we've had, last season and unfortunately this season were pretty predictable, bordering on inevitable.

I'll say that many of us (myself included) allowed ourselves to be over-hyped about the team and developed unrealistic expectations as a result. Frustration, disappointment, and a growing sense of apathy about the future of the franchise followed on the heels of so many back to back losses. But sooner or later, if we can stay on track with building primarily through quality drafting we will see better days. These are the hard times. They were made worse because we took too long (years...) to buckle down and do the hard thing to 'upright' this ship. This is the challenge for the team AND the fans.

So there's the line as drawn by our resident Mensan.

Three is completely unacceptable.

Four is the winning number.

You've really got this down to a science.
Quote:Mularkey was the worse coach.  Bradley could go winless this year, and still have as good of a record as Mularkey.  Winning just 1 game would put him over Mularkey's record.

Mike Mularkey threw his QB under the bus.  That's something that you'll NEVER see Bradley do.  Gus needs to improve, but one thing he doesn't do is the Mike Mularkey Shuffle of blame.  Which makes him a better coach.

Your well thought out response isn't welcome amongst the angry mob.

Actually the reasoning is easily seen by those who aren't trying to ignore it -

Anything less than 4 wins is a regression from last season.
I want to see the team become NFL caliber and move forward. It's getting old to use the excuse of talentless players when Gus and Dave assembled those talentless players! We should at least be better in the win column than last season when they had so-called less talent.

It's two drafts, two training camps, two free agent periods, and two seasons. If you're not better in the second year than the first, you have failed!

Regards.....................the Chiefjag

Another repeat of 2013 should certainly raise questions.

But does this offense need a possible new system?

How many assistants did DelRio blame/ fire? How were those results?

Coughlin was being run out of town at first in NY. Then? Super Bowl.

They call it knee " jerk" for a reason.

By 2007 Del Rio actually had assembled a pretty good staff. However, it took him far too long and too many misses to get to that point.

....but by 2009, almost all of the quality assistants he had assembled by 2007 either left via promotions (Mike Smith) or left on their own accord just to get the hell away from the guy.

Fewer than 3 wins, and Gus should start to feel a little heat.  Either he should make some changes somewhere at that point, or if Dave feels that he's not doing enough, then he should probably be fired.

At 3 or 4 wins, he should still make changes, but I think the heat should be turned back.  3 isn't as good as last year, but last year we also lucked out and the tinhorns were terrible.

Here's hoping Dave is able to do something next offseason to put this team at a competitive level.  Through Free Agency, and the draft.

FLSPRTSGOD .............. great post w dead horse !!!

You're a softer leader than I'd be.

I think its ALREADY clear regardless, that SOME changes NEED to be made - Babich demoted or replaced is a 100% necessity. Fisch isn't that far behind the 100% to replace/ demote. I know its not exactly a PC decision, but Yarno and his assistant/ this scheme might have to go as well.

If Gus balks at any one of these demands, he goes, end of story.

....and, anything less than 4 wins this season and Gus would be outta here, too.

The Jags team I have seen so far on the field will have a hard time going 4-6 in their final 10 games.

Lets say I agree with you (I don't but for sake of arguement) that Bradley should be let go.   Who would replace him?

Tell me who you think will be available and would want to come take over this roster knowing that they would be the Fourth head coach in five years (fifth if you count Mel Tucker) so they are on an extremely short leash.

What makes you think anyone with more experience than Bradley would want the job given the circumstances?

The only candidate I know of at current will likely be Jim Harbaugh. Its rumored for too long that he & the 49 ers will split after this season.

Now, just because he's the only one I know of at current doesn't mean there aren't also other prime candidates to replace Gus with. They'll start to surface as we get closer to the 2nd half and end of season.

I'd like to see Rex Ryan brought in here as Defensive Coordinator next year, with or without Gus.

As for the last sentence, are you serious? The Jags will now be a very attractive option for head coaching candidates. A good GM, combined with a young, quality franchise QB, combined with an owner hungry to win that also has deep pockets.

The Jags might be THE must lucrative current destination of any of the 32 NFL teams for a prospective head coach right now because of those combined circumstances.
