Quote:I think Bradley is in a tough spot this week and probably has some regret about painting himself in a corner with his comments. Fans are tired of it and starting to turn. People will voice their displeasure by not showing up on Sunday. Going to football games is supposed to be fun, it shouldn't be about suffering.
I think the decision they make on starting quarterback will be the difference in either having a full stadium Sunday with an excited crowd and having thousands of empty seats and hearing booing the entire game.

My wife and I have personally made the decision not to go if Henne is announced the starter. Much better way to spend Sundays.
Last year, I basically made a donation to the franchise with the lack of use of my tickets. I will do it 2 years in a row until Bortles starts.

I hear ya there. Yesterday I recorded the game and took my Wife and kid to the zoo instead. We had a much better day. Then I cringed when I got home and watched the recording. But yea, we had a much better time at the zoo then we would have had at home watching that game.
Play Bortles or forfeit. Henne has a scorecap and our defense isn't going to hold teams to 14 or less

There will be plenty of others staying at home if Henne is named starter.
The remaining crowd will be alot of Colts fans and alot of pissed off Jaguar fans spending thousands to see garbage.
Quote:About 5 of those sacks were on Chad Henne.
So even if Bortles were perfect and gave up
none of those sacks, he'd still be concussed and broken.

So, now we are predicting the severity of the injuries Bortles takes from being sacked?

Not really. Just a slightly graphic way of saying that if we're concerned about Bortles not being repeatedly hit (which carries an injury risk and isn't good from the winning games side of things) the fact that Henne may have been responsible for five sacks doesn't really make a difference. Even if Bortles could have avoided all the sacks we pin on Henne, he's still taking more than we'd like. Five sacks a game would put him on track to being the most sacked QB in the history of the league.

Personally, I'm not concerned about Bortles being hit. He is a big boy. Big Ben is doing pretty well these days.

Big Ben at least has a running game to take some pressure off of him and keep defenses honest.
Always has had that, even with a horrible pass blocking OL.
As much as Big Ben gets hit, I could see Bortles getting hit more.

I still believe we'd have a running game if Bortles were in and made the defense play a little more honest. MJD in his prime could run with a stacked box. Toby and Denard are not MJD

Big Ben has missed quite a few games, and has spent the past few years with nagging injuries due to the hits he's taken. I wouldn't necessarily use him as an example if you're trying to make a case for Blake and injuries.
Like the Redskins, our better QB was on the bench at the start of yesterday's game.
The new era begins Sunday !!

I believe we'd see some improvement with Bortles, but that improvement would not be universal.
Moxie or not, the OL has some major deficiencies. Moxie or not, the receivers are having difficulty getting open. Moxie or not, Gerhart isn't getting the job done.

We sacked Foles 5 times last week. He lived.
Quote:When asked if Bortles might play next week
Bradley said he did not consider playing rookie quarterback Blake Bortles
. He was asked afterward if he would consider it next week.
“Right now, we’ve got a lot of things we need to correct,” he said. “We’ll take a look at that all on film.”
What do you expect him to say after not reviewing the film first? I mean clearly Chad Henne made several mistakes during the last two games but to be fair he also did a few things right too....
Of course Blake Borltes is the better QB, but if you put him in and he gets a career ending injury or if he regresses due to the constant pressure from a weak oline will Gus Bradley then get critized as well?
My theory is you go with the players that give you the best chance to succeed, its a tough sport and players will get injured you cant not pull the triger (sort of speak) because of fear of player injury.. that type of thinking doesnt translate into victory.
That being said you cant fire the entire team after two poor played games either. Cooler heads will prevail, and we have to figure out whom isnt getting it and why.... but clearly some changes must be made prior to week 3's game...

It's sill a much more positive sign for Bortles than in the past. After the Eagles game I'm pretty sure he immediately said we're sticking with Chad. I think this is the time to make the change and he knows it without blatantly saying it yet. Of course he has to watch the film. But he knows as well as we do how poorly Henne performed.

Apparently you can at some point, given all the complaints about the Hurns injury.

Absolutely. But you don't want your QB to be taking that sort of punishment on a daily basis. I also don't believe that Bortles would immediately come in and play a perfect game without causing any sacks himself, so we're realistically looking at more than five sacks.

He's going to be hit. You cannot be scared.
