Wow, Henne had a career yr in 2009 when he went 7-6 in the 13 games he started.
He actually has a yr with a winning record. Who knew??
He went 6-8 the next season and it was ALL downhill after that.
He also had 3 game winning drives that season. Just WOW!!!!
He has had 1 so far with the Jags (to give him 4 total) and we all know it was the Browns game with the TD pass to CS3.
Unfortunately for the Jags, it looks like Henne peaked in 2009.
Quote:OK, so it's actually 5-22 OUCH!!!!!!! I knew he only had 5 wins as a Jag, but I forgot to add in his 0-3 start to 2013.
I also saw where in these 27 games BG actually 1 game winning drive.
I don't remember it at all or even what team it might be against.
I'm already dreading looking up CH.
Wasn't it against the colts with that pass to shorts? I know that's vague but it's the only details I remember.

Yes, and he almost had another with shorts the week before at Minnesota, but the defense let them drive down the field the very next drive. Those two games are Gabbert's career highlights...

JACKSONVILLE OFFENSE: The Jaguars could be 1-0 right now if Gus Bradley started Blake Bortles. Instead, he inexcusably went with Chad Henne when his old mentor made the right move by using Russell Wilson as a rookie over another crappy veteran (Matt Flynn). I don't understand this at all. Bradley should've named Bortles the starter for this week after watching Henne fail to complete routine passes in the second half of Sunday's game. Bradley is a great defensive mind, but he's displaying a Rex Ryan level of offensive incompetence.
I'm not a fan of 'Walterfootball' but I've got to say that this line..." Bradley is a great defensive mind, but he's displaying a Rex Ryan level of offensive incompetence." is probably one of the catchiest things I've ever read from that web site....

It's probably best to seek therapy and purge your mind of all memories of his time here.....there aren't enough good ones to offset the pain of all the others.

That was during the height of the wildcat gimmick offense.

clots, Cecil Shorts yac'd it up.

Should have had one against the vikings the week before that one, too, but the defense couldn't stop Ponder from going 40 yards in half a minute.
A truly sad season.
I'm starting to read more into this than I normally do.
This is very similar to what the coaching staffs told both Garrard and Gabbert before they got replaced.
Is this the coaching staffs way out of their Henne commitment? Neither Garrard or Gabbert was capable of doing what they asked them to do. Are they asking him to do something they feel he can't do as a means to bench him? Are they setting a very high benchmark of what they expect from him to keep his starting job?
/end conspiracy mode
Quote:Not sure but on that drive he threw two passes directly into the hands of the defenders, rookie mistakes, and he was lucky they did not intercept one of them. It is possible they are not starting him because not that he is not phys. ready to play but that he does not have a complete grasp or understanding of the complete playbook. We saw that the rookie WR were having problems causing henne to take TO's. Maybe he is ready to play but does not have the full understanding of the full playbook and they would be limited on what plays they could call. I trust the coaches to know when he is ready to go in and not the rabid BB fans.
On one of those near ints the reciever was held. Also, Matt Stafford threw 2 near Ints and an actual int in that game. Just because he isn't perfect doesn't mean he isn't ready.
If only there were some option to get a more explosive quarterback on the field.
But having looked high and low for alternatives, I guess the best option must be to try and change the 7 year veteran. Sure, up until now he's spent every year being bad, but maybe it's because nobody ever challenged him to not be bad. I'm glad we thought of this novel approach.
???? What? They want him to stick a firecracker in his ear????
Quote:???? What? They want him to stick a firecracker in his ear????
Right on the firecracker, wrong on the ear.
When Gus said "explosive minded," if he meant like the movie Scanners, then I am all for it.
Quote:What if Henne turns it around and starts playing lights out and wins 15 in a row and they name him the starter next year and he goes 11-5, then they are forced to name him the starter for 2016 and he just keeps winning. What if he starts shattering QB records? Does Blake still sit?
What if I win the lottery? don't worry about it... it ain't gonna happen.
Quote:Actually, I said a little more than just that, but you're learning how to cherry pick quotes like TMD. Good for you.
Nobody is saying Bortles wasn't impressive in his preseason outings. That still doesn't mean he's ready to go, and the fact that he's not starting would imply that the coaching staff doesn't think he is. You can keep on whining about it though. That's really going to change things.
"Actually, I said a little more than just that, but you're learning how to cherry pick quotes like TMD. Good for you."
so... is being compared to this TMD a good thing?
Quote:I would be happy if Henne just found a way to game manage the Jags to a WIN.
Can he just do this for us Jags fans?
I don't know. But I will say this; as much as I'm ready for BB to come in (and I am) it's unfair, bordering on ridiculous to blame all this teams woes on any one player. Henne has his failures, but watching that Eagles game, I saw passes dropped (ones that were catchable), missed blocking assignments, 'whiffed' tackles, players who were out of position, and bad coaching decisions. Henne is what he is but he isn't the only issue this team has. On the positive side, think back to just last year when our quarterback choices were Henne and Gabbert! Now, we've at least got the option of what will possibly become a really good quarterback (if the stars all stay in proper alignment long enough...).

Interesting what a franchise QB will mask, though. Will a damn play in the 2nd half.
"Huck and chuck"? is that some sort of euphemism for vomiting?

It may deter oncoming defensive linemen.
