I liked this quote.... "If Johnny Manziel was playing even near the level of Blake Bortles, the world would explode."
I foresee about 10 career backup QB's trying out for the Jags next year. They know this is the only place they have a shot of starting.

Why play a player who has no support from fans, hasn't earned the job? This went from not being a competition, to one that bortles won with ease. Mark my words, if Henne gets injured, there will be people cheering, despite how wrong it is. Is THAT how you want your star qb to be welcomed into the league? In THAT ugly scenario? Why, when there's plenty of justificstion to just pull the trigger now?
Gus wasnt gonna change his mind w/o watching the game tape, talking to fisch/caldwell. Rarely do coaches make decisions immediately after games. I have to think there's still potential for him to change his mind. Based on what he said, Henne sounded a lot more defensive last night when pressed about the issue.
This is going to be a domino effect. Gerhart will look awful because defenses will stack the box, there will be numerous threads (there is one already) asking if Lee and Robinson are busts, because Henne can't pass the ball. It is a trickle down effect. Henne makes everybody worse.

I'm pretty sure Henne is going to end up benching himself as the season goes on.. There's a strong competitive nature in the NFL to win, or at least try..

I was just thinking... Henne just got a new deal and is making the same salary whether he starts or is a backup. I'm sure he'd prefer not to play, avoid injury, and have his biggest problem be avoiding pinching his finger in the clipboard.
It will be great for our young receivers development by having the less capable guy throwing the ball.

I'd also be really happy that the team is mailing in the season before it starts if I was a vet too.

IMO, Bortles will be starting by week 3 (the home opener). Its a good spot for Blake's first start as the Colts defense isn't overly physical and the Jags might need to win an aerial battle with Andrew Luck. (The Bortles vs Luck angle helps too).

It will give the OL 2 regular season games to work out some of the bugs and develop some continuity, as well as give Blake some more mental prep time.

LOL....petulant child...

The Jags players aren't as simplistic minded as some of you. They actually understand ALL of the factors that is going into the decision, and get it.

What is with you insulting people with their own opinion? You have been throwing out insults since your ban was lifted. Just let it go.

You act holier than thou and you don't even watch the games. You came spewing your crap about Herns and didn't even realize it was Bortles throwing him the ball and not Henne.

Everyone knows your shtick. You give yourself an "out" on both sides of the fence so you can say you were right in the end.

In your opinion...

And you calling someone childish with your constant tantrums is hilarious.
Quote:I think the questions you have regarding keeping Henne the starter for a while is based on 1 key word you are missing the point of.

Rookie...  A rookie has alot to learn and can learn.  Give it a few more months, he'll be ready sooner than we all think, I have a feeling.  But as of right now, he's still progressing.

I have a feeling I'm going to start sounding like a broken record here...  But let's not forget that there were a couple throws that were bad decisions and should have been intercepted.  He's still got room for growth that can occur while not starting.

1) He's still going to be a rookie no matter when they start him.

2)He's not going to make any mistakes if he doesn't start right away?

3) He could progress just as quickly, possibly quicker, if he's playing.

"growth cannot occur while starting"?  You have got to be kidding me.

I can agree with this.. But even through the first 3 games, just because Henne would possibly start, it doesn't necessarily mean he would have more playing time than Bortles through week 3.. For some reason, I can see Henne getting those starts, but Bortles playing the majority of those games..
The start Bortles NOW crowd makes me laugh.

You can tell that they really believe this is a playoff team (if Bortles starts all 16) and that we are somehow throwing that away by delaying Bortles insertion into the lineup. It is to laugh. They simply are out of touch with reality.

I don't think they'll take Henne out during the games in lieu of Bortles (in Henne's starts) unless the games get out of hand or Henne gets injured.....(not that either won't/ can't happen)...

You do know we are playing in the AFC south right? It's not out of the realm of possibility we could win the division with Henne

Most of these people go to the games and want to see Bortles play because it will make their Sundays more fun. It is a lot different when you look at the stat sheet on ESPN at 4:15 and have no emotional connection to the team.

LOL @ "you don't watch the games".....

I've never missed a single Jags game. Granted in the preseason some of those are replays, but I saw most of the game last night on the NFL Network as they cut in the Jags Lions game all night acting as the Red Zone channel.
