Quote:Except like I previously stated... At the combine and multiple instances in training camp which you completely dismissed and said he has lost his explosiveness since the knee injury.
So I give examples of his explosiveness...things that actually occurred.
You say they didn't and that he hasn't been the same since the knee.
So I provided fact supporting it.
You made a baseless statement denying it.
Which was typical, but I'd appreciate accountability and you admitting you were wrong.
Too many fans and draktniks fall in love with the 40 yard dash, I can see why as it's an accurate measurable for long speed
. However, if you truly want to measure "explosion" look at the vertical (38 inch) and broad jump (10ft 7 inch), that's a true measure of lower body explosion, Marqise Lee is an incredibly explosive football player per those numbers, he doesn't have Desean Jacksons long speed (not too many do) but that's ok, he's explosive in short areas, he demonstrated that at USC. I'd rather have a guy that's explosive in short areas (that's more conducive at the NFL level) than a guy that can
occasionally
get behind a secondary purely based off his long speed.

To me, Marqise Lee is a bigger/more explosive version of Antonio Brown, or as a scout would say Antonio Brown-plus.

Didn't Matt Jones do well in all that combine crap, too? He rarely looked explosive to me on an NFL football field.
I tend to judge/ credit explosiveness by what I see in actual games, not the combine stuff. Explosiveness on the football field doesn't deceive.

That not a bad comp. Lee has a ways to go in the route running department to be Antonio Brown but he is more explosive. I like it.

Before Jones was suspended for the final time, it was starting to look like he was putting it together. He was never as fast as his 40 time indicated, but he was starting to get a hang for what it meant to play receiver in the NFL, and he was showing signs that things were beginning to click. Then he was gone.

Uhh, woaahhhhh there stranger...take it easy....

people forget he had like 60 catches that year without playing in all the games

While I won't deny that Matt Jones looked like he was starting to get it prior to his downfall....
I still disagree that he looked all that explosive. He really never came close to his combine numbers translating to the field.

He didn't look explosive. He was a long strider who ran some pretty sloppy routes. He never ran away from anyone in the NFL. That 4.3 speed was a myth. But, when he started to use his athletic ability, he started to show signs of being an actual weapon. Unfortunately, that was short lived.

I agree with TMD, he never showed to be explosive at all! A possession receiver with developing route running and catching ability, yes. Explosive, no way.

Who is saying he was explosive?
Quote:Your examples included the combine,
It was nice to see some explosiveness from Lee, on the field, in the game last night. Thats all I care about.
lol, combine crap..... smh
Isn't that all you are using to evaluate and hype Stephen Hill?
He wasn't productive in college, hasn't been productive in the NFL, but you want us to trade Ace Sanders for him because Sanders doesn't have a good measurable with his height and Hill has all the great measurables.
Looks like he isn't the only one hooked on the combine crap.
Quote:Matt Jones issue had nothing to do with his physical abilities on a football field, switching positions from the collegiate to NFL level (with success) is nearly impossible. I think he was a guy that was victimized by thinking too much, that didn’t allow him to play fast, , in terms of pure athletic ability, at 6'6 240 LBS he's arguably one of the more freakish athletes to ever step on a football field, such a colossal waste of talent.

Ya Matt Jones' issue was that he lacked fire. Can you imagine if he actually wanted to run over people and had a passion for the game?

I still stand by my Greg Jennings comparison. YouTube some Jennings highlights and you will see the comparison, too.

Antonio Brown from athletic standpoint couldn't hold Lee's jockstrap, Marqise Lee is
by far
the better athlete, and he's bigger. I like Antonio Brown, but Lee's upside is much greater, we'll see how it plays out.

25.5 career YPC in college for Stephen Hill, so no, combine crap is not all I am using for Stephen Hill.

Or if he actually tried to catch the ball with both hands?

Well, I'm not sure about that, but really all that matters is how they play in games on the football field. Antonio Brown has proven time and time again to be a big play guy. Lee's got a ways to go to be mentioned in the same breath as Brown, IMO.

College stats always translate in the NFL. That's why he's averaging 25.5 with the Jets. Oh, wait....
