The funny thing here is that its only a few more exclamation marks more than you normally use when shouting at people how right you are...
Let's see what Bortles looks like with the red jersey removed.

IIRC, there was one play last night that was very Roethlisberger-esque, i.e., Blake stood in the pocket with tons of body around him and threw the ball in an up-for-grabs kind of deal. He was untouched in a scrimmage, but in a live game that could have been a bad play if he got blasted as he was throwing, causing the ball to either sail or fall short. Like I said, it was very Ben R-like. If it works, it would have been a great play. If it didn't, not only would he have gotten blasted by a hard hit but could have also led to a turnover.
I went last night. It was kinda boring.

I would have liked to see Bortles get some playing time with Lee and Lewis but figured it was a long shot.

It's really nothing more than a training camp practice inside the stadium.

yep you can't tell a lot from it but there were certainly some positives to take away from it.

People attend expecting a game. That's the problem.

shoot I just enjoyed watching it on jaguars.com. Did you like what you saw from Bortles?

I don't want no mediocre
I don't think we can get too high (like the 28 yard completion to Brown) or too low (like the ill advised 40 yard pass that should have been picked) with a rookie QB.  Everyone is starving for instant success because of the train wreck seasons over the last few years.  Luck, who most people think was a once in a decade QB, threw 18 INTs and had a 76 rating his first year.  Blake is going to look good at times and bad at times.  We're going to have to have some patience as he acclimates to the speed and skill of the NFL.

You really can't judge the offensive or defensive line.  They were not playing at Full capacity.  It was kinda like play hard enough but don't get anyone hurt night.
I wonder if how soft training camp has become has contributed to the many injuries league wide.

Training camp use to compose of 2 times a day and real hitting every day.  15 years ago this game would of looked like a real game with defenders knocking the snot out of the offense.

I think goodell is doing a bad job turning this league into a basketball on grass league.

yep and i think Peyton threw like 28 interceptions his rookie year. He turned out pretty good.
Quote:Bortles will start week 1. Gus showed with Russel the best man will play. Bortles will win the competition. All the media talk is just that, talk.

So Carroll deferred to Gus, his D-coordinator, on who he should play at QB?  Okay.

He's progressing, but I'm not deluding myself into thinking red shirt practices are in any way an indication he's starting to win the starting job.

Isn't that how every team operates?

Wow. You're right...I would have never guessed that.  Just checked his career stats and he threw 23 picks in his 4th year and has thrown 15 or more in 7 seasons.  Of course he throws for 4000 yards and 30+ TDs every year.  I'll take those numbers.
