Some thoughts:
1. The defense is way ahead of the offense. No big surprise.
2. Bortles already looks better than Henne.
3. The Jags have lots of very good LBs.
4. The OL is bad. It's going to be a long season.
The show was a lot more watchable than I expected.
I didn't get a full screen either, but the screen was plenty big enough. I only had a couple of dropouts during the pre-game stuff, none during the scrimmage. Sincere thanks to Jaguars.com for doing this.
Quote:I pretty sure Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and the other top QBs, look to put it in the end zone every chance they get in a scrimmage and wont settle for less and get PO'd when they dont. They probably put it in the end zone a dozen times more than, what, 2 tds for the Jaguars tonight.
And I'm pretty sure Peyton only had one TD and overthrew 2 different receivers in the end zone in their scrimmage tonight... Why so negative?
Scrimmage or not, it still looked like the same ol Henne, which quite frankly it shouldn't....because it's a scrimmage.
Quote:Well he didn't duck into the fetal position so it's an improvement on last year.
So True. I've never seen a QB so scared to get hit as Gabbert was. I think the courage factor was something that caught everyone by sursprise. I still remember him sliding when a defender was ~ 5 yards away on a consistent basis.

Throw out the window the sit the rookie out one season plan. Time to throw him to the wolves.
Quote:Don't mind him; guy really needs to get laid or something.
Haha
We still have a pre-season. I love people be like ERMERGERD when it was a tag football scrimmage.

I still say let Henne take the rough start of the season, give the line time to get their feet under them, and let him in 6-7. Though I think he'll be in by 5, after Henne has an "injury".
I could see the video boards from my deck.

Where do you think the weak links were?
How did Joeckel look? Do you think, based upon his performance in the scrimmage, that he can be counted upon to be the strength of the OL?
Wish I could had seen it. Newborn has me at home so couldnt be there (not mad about it, though). But would have liked to seen Bortles play. To those surprised Henne is looking anything other than Henne has ever looked, I'm shocked. The dude is a backup in this league--he just happens to be our bridge for Bortles.
edit- if the line is as patchy as people are saying it looked, perhaps Bortles' athleticism could benefit him. If he's looking the part by the end of preseason start'em; regardless of the other pieces in place--if hes better than Henne.
I liked Hurns. He had one drop, but played well.I also liked DRob.
Drob and storm looked pretty good.
Flashback
Marcedes: No one can cover me.
Tonight:
TD pass broken up by 2013 7th rounder Demetrius McCray.

I guess Marcedes missed McCray declaring no one can catch on him.

McCray changed his name to Nobody McCray...
anyone else impressed with telvin Smith? He might be a little light, but he can play

Again, what do you want? An offense that can move the ball on ANY defense or a defense that can stop ANY offense? It was just a practice for crying out loud.

I have been saying keep an eye out on this dude since we drafted him.
Bortles looked real good and comfortable out there. He's going to be the real thang.
Henne is still having balls batted down at a record rate.
