Quote:Got to go through this part first. Eventually it won't be a big deal, but it still is.
I know people keep talking about his measurables, but he showed up on tape. I think he makes the team.
He might make the team. Sometimes 7th rounders do. If he does I hope its via his talent beating out the competition and not simply via PC/ PR.
Also I love how the media lie just to push their agenda....I remember hearing one of the pushers claiming this weekend that Johnny Manziel's jersey was the #1 selling rookie jersey since the draft and Michael Sam's was #2.....Uh, sorry, I call bull crap. No 7th rounder's jersey is going to be on sale at that point. He probably doesn't even have a number yet.
But thats ok, as long as the agenda is pushed and people think Sam's jersey is selling, thats whats important.

Well we will find out. And I agree with you. Hopefully it is based on field performance.
TMD, do you ever close your mouth long enough for the poo to stop dribbling out?
The kid was drafted in the 7th round because he had the skill set and production of a 7th round pick. If he was drafted in the first or second round, I agree, agenda, but he wasn't. He was barely drafted at all. Get over yourself. You're starting to sound like Glenn Beck.
Also, if I may point this out:

Yeah, he was drafted where many said he should be based on his skill set. He didn't get special treatment there.

Actually it is already on sale. He's #10.
Bortles is #5, and is also the #5 selling jersey. It's a
sign

I expect the 1st rounders jerseys to be on sale....
I guess I stand corrected on the logic of not expecting some 7th rounder's jersey to be on sale. I underestimated the power of the 'pushers.

If the player is popular they sell the jersey.
Even low rounders.
Just sit back and think for a moment if Sam was drafted by the Jags. There is so much excitement here on talk radio surrounding Bortles, Lee, and Richarson, it would be a terrible shame that talk surrounding a 7th round pick would dominate the airways and coffee talk around the area.
Thank you St. Louis for breaking barriers. Our town needs to focus on football right now.
Same reason he got drafted is why he'll make it. The spectacle of it. Fisher has even said he's proud he can be a part of all of this.
Quote:He's just another football player.
All the hype has to do with something else altogether.
If he wants to just be a football player, he would end the circus because while it may further his name in media affairs, it won't do a thing but be a detriment to him as a football player.
Stupid, stupid distraction.
He says that is what he wants, but saying one thing and doing another are completely opposite. I am not sure why there is a need to "come out of the closet officially".
Quote:Imagine drafting Manziel and Sam on the same team? The circus would be insane.
Quote:I'll give you one better....imagine had Sam been drafted to a team Tebow had been on!!! :woot:
I will one up even that. Manziel and Sam on the same team and they started dating.

I'd think most jersey sales to this point for rookies are the custom created ones online like nfl.com

Anyone wanna start a drinking game for every time TMD types the word "agenda"?

The NFL is pretty shrewd with their marketing tactics. You're right, it's all custom jerseys, but they put them out there for the fans almost immediately after they're drafted to take advantage of the emotion of the moment.

Quitter
There is a pretty good chance that he makes the team. He dominated at the highest level of football under the NFL and has the build to be very successful as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. If I was a 3-4 team I probably would have spent a 4th or a 5th on him but that's just me.
I don't know how a man who was SEC Defensive Player of the Year cannot make a roster. He was the best player on defense in the best conference in the country, how can he not make a contribution on the field in some capacity?
