Peoples sex lives should be no ones business but their own. I've said this multiple times now.
I don't like long drawn out PDA by people of the opposite sex either, btw. So, I'm consistent.
Quote:If you look at Sam's measurables, that may be the case. I was going to suggest maybe as a special teams guy, but he's got a painfully slow 40 time.
If he dosent work out in a 4-3 scheme with improved lateral movement, ST would be a good alternative.

Fair enough. Some of your messages came across as a little more than just that but fair enough
Quote:Tell me, exactly how is this different than a straight player kissing his girlfriend again?
Well, the academy award winning lets extend this moment uber-longer than it has to be for contrived dramatic effect?....
How about that?

Yes because hug, kiss, hug is contrived. Were you sitting there with a stop watch or something? What is the time count on what is to long for a person to show affection exactly?

My biggest issue is with the media, PC, and what I see as attempted mind control/ thought police.

Just using most of the other instances that night by comparison.

So telling people how to think is bad but telling people how to act and display affection is just fine in your book?
Quote:It would have been a great opportunity to teach your son that same sex love is okay and that he need not hate people based on which consenting adult they chose to live their life with.
That's an opinion, I don't subscribe to that belief it is okay. I'm not one to force my belief on others, and I'm not one to look to oppress others because they don't believe like I do, but I certainly wouldn't teach my child same sex love is okay.
regardless it's not a conversation I look to be having with my kids (sex of any kind) while watching a sporting event. Same reason I don't let them watch R rated movies and I have to sensor crap they show on the "kids channels".

I'm just saying had Sam not played it all up and just acted like the rest of the couples and not made it into some production, I'd have less of an issue.
If you just want to be accepted like everyone else, then act like everyone else. No need to embellish/ exploit the moment just because the cameras are on you and you are trying to make a statement.
Quote:That's a bit far isn't it?
The Dolphins are looking at in in the light that they just got over the Incognito scam and the last thing they need is to be the poster child for more intolerance.
It makes sense from an organizational and business standpoint. If anyone in any job were to say that they'd have to undergo the same training. They probably wouldn't get a fine, but an EO report would be filed against them for sure.
I have a issue with this.
He sent out the tweet on his own time.
By fining him, they set a precedent that a respectful difference of opinion/beliefs is not tolerated in the workplace which causes an uncomfortable work environment.
By the way, isnt that what the Dolphins are trying to improve on?

Yep.
Its essentially thought police.

I agree that employers shouldn't be allowed to punish employees for things they say on their own time. It's why my wife doesn't have a facebook account (and why I don't have one either). Anything you say or post could get you in trouble. But it's not just a problem with the NFL. And unfortunately what he said reflected on the NFL more than most of these cases reflect on their employers.
Quote:What is sad is that society, or parts of it, have deemed that if you disagree with someone's lifestyle (or anything for that matter I suppose) you hate them (or it). Couldn't be more false.
There's an excellent quote out there that deals with this very subject. I will try and dig it up.
Found it.
“Our culture has accepted two huge lies. The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.”

Quote:Yep. You are 100% correct. Reality really hit home when he kissed his boyfriend after being drafted. I think that freaked a lot of people out. That said, THE MEDIA is 100% guilty of pushing it down everybody's throat as they lead off NFL Total Access with the story, it's on CNN, etc. THE MEDIA claims to seek equal rights but they in fact fuel the fire to heighten controversy.
I agree with your statement 100%. Michael Sam announced he was gay. Nothing more and nothing less. Now it's time to go play some football.
Serious inquiry here. Why is there a need to "come out" publicly? I don't understand it. I never felt the need to come out and say I was attracted to women at a certain point.

The league has issued a mandate that there is a zero tolerance policy being employed for those who present a tone of intolerance over this issue. If players have an opinion, they'd better learn to keep it to themselves.

A few celebrities decided to come out and declare they were proud to be straight. They got hammered by the same crowd that will holler intolerance if you don't embrace Sam as a hero.

No kidding. Where's our parade?
