Henne is an average backup QB.  He'll look good on one play, and horrific on the next.  Still, he's the best option this team has today.  We'll see what happens when the draft is over.

Chad Heine[Image: moon.gif] is not teams first choice to throw the ball.  Enough said on that.

The OLine is a giant ? along with the running game, do you really want to draft a QB in the 1st round only to have him killed in his first year?

They have to address the defense this year with this draft, and face it the team will be lucky to break even 8wins,

so lets look at next years QBs or this years late round hopefuls for our starting QB and stop hyping up guys like Carr, Bridgewater, etc.

Chad Henne is a 4k yard, 25 TD, 24 Int, 6-10 type QB. Not a guy to build around but still valuable to a team as a role player.

Henne put up respectable stats last year, but if you broke those numbers down by quarter, I'm sure this would expose what we all already know about him.  He got the bulk of his stats when the opponents were basically locked into a win, and playing softer defense.  The entire offense had a tendency to struggle mightily until the games were out of hand.

Henne instills zero confidence in anyone that he will win a game, which is why I profess that he ain't even a good back-up QB as one would like to have some confidence that if your back-up has to come in you might still win. I find it difficult to watch just knowing that it's only a matter of time until he screws something up. If he's lucky he will win approx 25% of the games he plays.

In summation, On a suckness scale of 1-10, with 10 being the suckiest, Henne comes in at a solid 10.

I still don't understand why some people don't get this.

Having Henne as you backup isn't really different than having someone like Gabbert as the backup. He's not a young lion pushing the guy ahead of him, he's a washed up former second round pick that has no business on the field. That Caldwell wanted him signed so badly heading into free agency is either an indictment of the available talent in free agency and the draft, or of Caldwell's ability to evaluate QB talent.

If it's just that we have a crew in charge that is stupid enough to believe that QB talent can be made up for in other areas then it's the worst possible scenario.
If you'd tell any of the 12 playoff teams that their QB would be Chad Henne this season and they'd be in a mad panic.  He fits in with our plan hold the fort down for another 2 years while we establish our core players through the draft.

Quote:Brand new Jags fan here. I live in Birmingham so I don't have a team within 2 hours of me. I've become a bit of a draft geek recently and have become very interested in the Jaguars. I've watched most of the 2013 season on NFL GameRewind.

I am impressed with Chad Henne. He was noticeably better than Gabbert IMO. I could see an improved line and a few additions at receiver making this offense quite good.

What do y'all think of Henne?

He's considerably better than Gabbert. He's not a great player but can be competent but not spectacular when given a decent team around him. He will be our starter next year, will have his moments, but his best long term role is as a backup.

I'd say he's a 3.5k yard, 18 TD, 20 INT, type of QB.  If he were the backup, less people would have a problem with him.  But you'd still want an upgrade if possible.

Right, he's an approximately 77 passer rating, more INTs than TDs, game blowing kind of QB. If he would need Jerry Rice and Randy Moss both in their prime to ever make it to 25 TDs.
Top 40 NFL QB going into this season. Production wise, he should produce as much as the top 3 rookie QBs produce in their first year or more.  He is also in his prime or has peaked.  He doesn't have another gear but being a veteran he can use his experience to improve some players around him.

There are not many teams he could start for. A lot of his stats come in garbage time, commonly following a long cold streak where Chad either:gets passes batted at the line of scrimmage, throws a ball at a receiver's feet, buckles under pressure and takes a sack, throws an errant pass which gets picked or checks down and throws a ball to a receiver three yards shy of the first down marker on third and long. He shows flashes, but nowhere in his career has he ever been able to string together three consecutive decent performances. He is an average at best back up QB.
Henne Jerseys are selling like hot cakes.  Better hurry up to Football Fanatics before they run out.

He's only the starter for this team because we don't have a better option at the moment.  We're paying him like a guy who isn't a starter.  When the team finds their guy, and he's ready to take the starting job, Henne will fall back into his rightly place on the roster. Until then, I'm not sure what people are expecting.

You're both wrong. He has never passed for more than 15 TDs or 3301 yards in a season and shows no signs of getting over that hump.
He is as good as a freshman high school QB playing for the NFL. In other words, HE SUCKS!!!

What? Dude is straight trash... Hahahahahaha!!!!!
I don't think anyone can really answer that question.

Henne has never played with a good team.  He played with the horrible dolphins then got sent to the rebuilding Jags.  IDK know how good he could be with a strong supporting cast.

He is atleast average.  10x better than gabbert

The Hennsanity continues!!!
