Quote:Man we have a lot of picks now, and if we trade down in the 1st and get an extra 2nd round pick, I can see Caldwell packaging some picks and trading up after the 1st round, maybe more than once. Hmmm.... maybe trade down and take Mike Evans, then use the extra 2nd rounder and a 4th to trade back into the bottom of the 1st and get Manziel if still there. I'd love to see that combo for the Jags for a few years!

Rnd1- WR M. Evans (starting day one, will make any QB look better)

Rnd1 - QB J. Manziel (we've seen what he and Evans can do, wow)

Rnd2 - OG D. Yankey (starter at RG day one, can also play RT if needed)

Rnd3 - OC M. Martin or T. Swanson (Starter if we don't get a Center in FA)

Rnd4 - RB L. Seastrunk (lightning to Gerhart's thunder)

Rnd5 - QB B. Smith (can play similar style to Manziel if needed)

I don't know about you guys, but I'd be pretty excited about that draft. Could renew some of the old excitement from the fans, and some respect from opponents and the rest of the NFL.

I think we are the same page, I would love a scenario where we trade down a bit and pick up another 2nd. Then package some of those picks and pick up Manziel, who I feel like might fall a bit.

If he falls past Minnesota at #8, IMO there is a good possibility he will be there late in the 1st for us or somebody else to trade back into the first and get him.  If Houston takes Clowney instead of Bortles at #1, I could see the Texans possibly trying to trade back into the 1st to get Manziel.  We should have more picks, and therefore more ammo than Houston to trade though.   Or if Minnesota trades up with us (or ahead of us with St. Louis) to get Bridgewater, so they don't HAVE to take Manziel at #8, I don't think Oakland or Cleveland would take Manziel.  Oakland has bigger needs, and I see Pryor getting another shot this year. Cleveland is said to like Derek Carr with their second pick of round 1 at #26.  That leaves Manziel falling.  So the scenario I presented before, where we traded down to #8 and took Evans, then traded up later in round 1 for Manziel would be awesome...

By himself, I don't really want Manziel, but if we could pair him with Evans, I would be a lot more excited about Johnny in teal.
I just can't get excited about watching a qb on IR
Quote:I just can't get excited about watching a qb on IR
Yeah, because Manziel has been hurt so much and missed so many games throughout his career....

Plus, the O-line should be better.  Does Drew Brees stay hurt?  Does Russell Wilson stay hurt?  They are about Manziel's size.  Conversely, big guys can get hurt just as much, if not more.  Byron Leftwich was plenty proof of that.

Like I said, Manziel is not my favorite pick for us at QB, but if we paired him with Mike Evans, that would be something to watch.  The built-in chemistry and timing would be such an advantage.

I'll give this a shot. One assumption is that the Jaguars do not pick up a C in FA. Availability of players is determined by the prospect ranking on CBSsports.com.

1. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson

3. Weston Richburg, C, Colorado State
4. CJ Fiedorowicz, TE, Iowa
4. Terrone West, RB, Towson

4-101: Lache Seastrunk - RB - Baylor

4-110: Adrian Hubbard - LB - Alabama

You can now scratch off Bridgewater for the #3 overall pick.

At this point, I hope Caldwell's with list looks like this for the #3 pick:

1. WR Sammy Watkins

2. QB Blake Bortles

3. Trade down if possible

Yes, trade down outranks Clowney.

If Watkins there, take him.  If Watkins goes to the Rams, and Bortles is there, take him.  If Bortles goes to Texans, and Watkins to Rams, trade down and to get extra picks and let somebody else take the risk on Clowney.

I understand Watkins is great and all. But, none of you have faith in Mack?

1. Bortles

2. Watkins

3. Clowney

Justin Gilbert should be in the running for our pick in a trade back idk why he isn't being talked about as an option

I like most of this draft, especially Clowney, Richberg, Seastrunk, Gilmore and Boyd in the 6th. I'd pass on Mettenberger, however, due to his lack of mobility. Instead, I'd take Yankey to solidify the O.Line. I would take Aaron Murray in the 4th and hope either he or Boyd can develop into a solid starter. If not, not much lost. Outside linebackers are absent from this draft so I'd grab the best available one in rounds 5 or 6. I have confidence that Caldwell will keep selecting the BAP so if a certain player drops to a lower round he will not hesitate to grab this player. One example, in my opinion, is A.J. McCarron. If he falls to the 3rd round I believe he's too good to pass up. I'd then take the best center in the 4th or possibly give up one of the extra picks to move back into the 3rd so they could get their top center available.
