Quote:Average. Very, very average.

I'll stick with my average QB who has taken my team to the playoffs in his first 2 seasons, won a playoff game, and does this all with a weak running game, average offensive line, and a defense that can't stop a nose bleed.
Every aspect of the Colts franchise since they came here from Baltimore has been built on a foundation of lies, fraud, and corruption- from Irsay Sr's lying about his military discharge to the Mayflower vans to hiring legendary college cheater Ron Meyer to Harbaugh's Christianizing on the radio and then drunkenly taking strippers home from Brad's Gold Club every weekend to Peyton running a string of waitresses that would make Tiger jealous while proclaiming himself the ultimate family man to Polian terrorizing former players and sportswriters to Dungy pimping himself as Father of The Century while ignoring his own child to the point of suicide to Irsay Jr's (allegedly lol) forging prescriptions and trying to cheat his siblings and late father's widow in business deals. And Luck being proclaimed "The Great One" regardless of his actual play is just another brick in that foundation. He received not one iota of criticism on the Colts Post Game show, in fact Barry Krauss said his performance was, I quote, "tremendously good".

I may be stuck here in Indy, but I'm thankful to be a fan of a franchise with integrity in its' DNA. Anybody who has any dealings with the Colts, and I have, unfortunately, knows what a cesspool the Colts' organization truly is.

And "great" quarterbacks don't throw seven picks in successive playoff games, sorry to say.
Everyone who is blaming the D. They totally shut the Patriots down at the end of the 2nd and start of the 3rd. At one point they had like four 3 and outs in 5 drives. Luck then couldn't make a play, as he admitted after the game. Then the D totally broke down under the pressure.

Wow...that's a long laundry list of dirt!

Yes it is...though I would not argue the Jaguars are moralists by comparison. Usually when you do, that's when stuff hits the fan.

The D already gave up the damage at that point. So they had a few drives where they stopped a weak Patriots offense, so what? Most defenses don't give up points every single drive. So, you are praising the Colts D for that?!?! OOoooh. Wake up, dude. The Colts defense stinks. It stunk last week, and for most of the season, too.

Luck didn't get it done today. And?....He can't do it all by himself. They were on the road today vs a team with a much better QB and a better coached defense. Did the outcome of todays game surprise you or something? Not me. I picked the Patriots.

Luck will be elite soon. As it was he still made some very good throws yesterday, despite his mistakes. I guess you give him no credit for that first TD pass either. Perfect coverage, only a perfect pass gets that TD and thats what happened.
Quote:We'll be here next year. Mark it down. Quote me. Do whatever you need to do.

With that QB, the Colts will be a playoff team way more than not and will win their share of playoff games.

Anyone that cannot see this is blind.

We should have tanked. They did and now (despite the loss yesterday) are enjoying the spoils.

Quote:LOL. I think I've made my point.

This is stupid. They made the playoffs 2 straight years, including one of those being a division title.

None of that happens w/ o Andrew Luck.

Gabbert/Henne

Locker/Fitzpatrick

schaub/keenum

These guys deserve some credit for this

Dang, and I thought I developed a hatred for the colts when I lived here! Sad thing is, the list is accurate. Amazes me how that organization is still referred to as "classy".

But...I thought he was elite ALREADY?  I'm confused.  20/41 for 331, 2 TDs, and 4 INTs.  Look at that elite statline!

I think Luck will be very good, but he needs to develop more consistency and take better care of the football.  I have no idea how this guy is hailed as better than Wilson or Newton.

The Colts were the beneficiaries of a weak division and injuries to a good Chiefs team.  They were pretenders in the playoffs this year, and with how trade-happy Grigson is, especially for inferior talent, this may be their ceiling for the foreseeable future.

Yes, Luck put up that stat line on the road vs the #2 seed who just had 2 weeks to prepare for his team, and who has street FA's getting valuable snaps at some of the WR positions.

I never expected the Colts to win that game, hence my correct choice on the NFL divisional playoff prediction thread.

Luck is still getting better. If Luck had the kind of weapons on offense that Cincinnati has, he'd be headed to a SB victory.

I think he did a very good job in the playoffs considering what he has. Good YPA, isn't afraid to throw deep early and often....Luck plays the position exactly the way I'd like my QB to play it.

I know you would probably prefer an Alex Smith or Andy Dalton type play it safe, play it "not to lose" game manager. Not me. Luck will eventually get a SB playing the style of football he plays. Aggressive. Going for all the big plays. The game manager types ain't winning a SB even with top notch personnel around them.

I'm sorry, how do you know this about me, exactly?  Not throwing stupid passes that are easy interceptions isn't the same thing as being a game manager.  The two aren't mutually exclusive.  We'll have to wait and see what Luck gets over the course of his career.  For now, he's had an extremely mediocre season, and if he's waiting for talent on the offensive side of the ball to help him out (as you purport), help isn't on the way if Grigson continues idiotic trades like the Richardson deal.  To add to this, the Colts' two best players, Wayne and Mathis, are on the tail end of their careers.  The Colts are in a tough spot.

To me, Luck just again illustrates that there is NEVER a player worth tanking a season for.

LOL, without Andrew Luck that team is essentially the Titans or probably worse, over the last 2 season.

Andrew Luck was most indeed worth tanking for. We didn't. They did. They thankful.

Luck is great, his desire to win is top tier, and I think that matters a lot. Some guys curl up into the fetal position when there's adversity, but Luck seems to just fight harder the worse off his team is.

The thing that worries me about him is his middle of the road arm. It showed big time again last night. He threw a bunch of picks because he couldn't zip the ball in to his guy well enough. It may be why his biggest games seem to be a result of him doing a lot of running with the ball.

With a better cast and the retirement of the current QB giants he'll likely gain more success, but he's going to have to do some more learning to be able to work within his athletic constraints.

Andrew Luck is a good, not great, QB.

He is far from elite.

He's young and has all the ability to become elite, though.   He's nowhere near the level of me fearing them though.

Holy shenanigans.

I need to send this to OTL's Bob Ley pronto.

Agreed.  He is going to be a beast.  I am just trying to enjoy his growing pains now because I can see the storm coming and its going to be around for a long time.  Jags better find a QB quick.
Even if Luck turns out to be a Peyton Manning level QB, does it even matter? In our efforts to win the division, we had one year of Mark Brunnel, and followed that with the likes of Byron Leftwich, David Garrard, Blaine Gabbert, and Chad Henne. This is why we haven't won the division. In fact, how many playoff caliber quarterbacks did Manning play against his entire time competing in the AFC south? Luck is irrelevant. Say luck ends up just being average and we get into the playoffs because of the lack of competition in the division. Guess what? We're not winning in the playoffs because of the lack of competition.
