Quote:He tanked this year, Dave knows, Gus knows, shad knows. Its how you build a long term contender. Get a high pick, get a QB, youre set for 15 years.

And the idiots who are complaining about releasing dawan landy and derek cox need to get a clue. were trying to be good, not mediocre.

So this is the narrative you're sticking to now? We're sucking on purpose?

wonder how long before that one changes...............
Quote:Where was this all these years?!?

I've been skeptical of Gene Smith easily dating back to 2010 and questionable since trading that 2 for the 3 for Derek Cox.  Everyone tried telling me I was crazy.

I don't come to the main board to often...it's crazy on here!!!
Quote:You do realize we have he worst o-line, d-line, QB, and a secondary full of rookies and waiver wire guys right?

When the talent gap is that huge of course youre going to be blown out. Even being competitive this year is unrealistic given the state of this roster.

So you are saying that Caldwell traded away the little talent we had in order to have an excuse for losing?  Interesting concept.

Could he have filled in enough to make us better than we were last year or even competitive?  No one's asking for playoffs.

And someone tell Caldwell's wife that our team is the Jaguars, not the Jagwires.
Quote:No one's asking him to, but creating more voids on a roster with already so many voids is an issue and it's something Caldwell willing did. We where told not to worry, these guys Caldwell brought in to replace Knighton, Smith, Cox, Ross, Mathis, Landry, Mosley, Jones, ect......couldn't possibly be worse then the 2-14 squad last year.

8 games in they look a whole another level of suck, Pass Rush worse then ever, Secondary just as bad as ever, Run defense worse then ever, Ground game worse then ever, Passing game worse then ever. Where the hell did we get better this offsesason?

Yea Gene Smith flamed out big time, what did Caldwell do to fix ANY of that?

Can you provide the links where anyone in the organization said the replaements couldn't possibly be worse then the 2-14 squad last year?  Or is this something you've just manufactured to make your case?

When you sign players to 1 year deals, you're hardly declaring they're an upgrade, but hey, whatever you need to do to spin it your way, go for it.

What we know is all the players you opine losing with the exception of one are not doing terribly well right now, but somehow losing them is devastating in your world.  And still, despite all that talent the team let walk in free agency, we're really only potentially 2 games worse with 1 year band aids, yet you continue to act like we've jettisoned a roster of pro bowl talent and permanently damaged the franchise.

None of the guys you've listed are a real loss with the exception of Smith.  Even he wasn't really a guy that was part of the long-term plan here regardless.  He's the only one having a decent season elsewhere this year.  This year was always about blowing it up and getting by.  They're more than likely going to be unloading even more players that will have you quivering in the fetal position in some dark corner once this season concludes.  In the end, these are moves that have to happen if you're going to allow a new front office, owner, and coaching staff to build THEIR team.  Keep clinging to the past if it makes you happy, but the team you're opining over gave you 7 wins in 2 years.  The fact that we're winless this year has as much to do with past ineptitude and having to address that now rather than using your piece meal approach of slowly weening people off mediocrity.

If they make the right choices, the team will be better next year.  And it will again be better the year after that.  None of us know for sure if they're on the right path, but anyone with even the slightest bit of common sense recognizes that massive change had to happen after a decade of average or sub-par football in Jacksonville.  Is it ugly now?  Yes.  But, the approach they've taken should (if they're making the right picks) turn around more quickly than taking your slow, plodding approach of not letting go of players because we like them.

Caldwell traded away the one player on the roster (who wasn't playing well, btw) who had trade value, and only because the team was approached by the Ravens. They traded away a player in the final year of his contract who they could have held on to and watched him walk at the end of the season with zero compensation.   I'm pretty sure he didn't do it to have an excuse for losing, especially when you consider the trade happened while we were in the midst of the current losing streak.

I've never heard Caldwell's wife, but I honestly don't care how she pronounces the name of the team.  What I do care about is seeing this team improve.  What I also understand is that with the situation as bad as it was over the past couple of seasons, we could have followed the status quo of trying to band aid this and do a fake rebuild.  We've done that twice before and it never resulted in any sort of sustained success.  The other approach we could follow is blowing it up.  Since we've done the piece meal approach under Harris and Smith with limited success, completely dismantling this thing and starting over is an approach that seems to make the most sense, especially coming off 7 wins in the previous 2 seasons.
Quote:Below is a list of potential HC candidates that could have been sitting in Bradley's position and gotten us to 0-8 just like he did.

1.  TMD

2.  Jagswilldestroyyou

3.  Me

4.  My neighbor's dog, Skeeter

5.  Any 4 year old from a local daycare center

6.  A corpse dug up from a local cemetery

7.  Adam2012

Most of the ones on this list would have worked for less pay, and with any luck might have actually made a game or two competitive, without even trying.  The postgame press conferences would have been refreshing without having to hear GB repeat himself over and over in another of his losing speeches.

Anyone with a dog named Skeeter is automatically disqualified.

I'm sure Bradley has Skeeters little brother.... Who probably saw some positive things out there.

Getting blown out EVERY game for 8 straight? Yes, by now it falls on coaching. Zeeeero improvement. Lackluster play. No discipline. Joking on the sidelines. Somehow, someone has to look at coaching.

We gripe about Gabbert and Henne... What about this pathetic D? That's Bradley folks.

So? How do you say Jagwires in Alaaaaassskka? ( do you all sound like Sarah? )

Really... After this crap team, youre concerned about Bradley's wife and her Minnesota accent?

Today the fans were calling them the Jag you wires. Stupid Brits, eh?

I too am interested in seeing this team improve.

You have a well-earned reputation of calling them straight.  I remember when you came out and criticized JDR several years ago when he still had a lot of fan support.  So I'd like to ask you how long you, personally, are prepared to sit by and wait for visible improvement before you put this leadership team under the microscope?  Are you just writing off these next 3 years like many others are, or do you have an idea where you'd like to see the team be by the end of next year?  Also, do you have any reservations about Bradley or Caldwell that you'd be willing to share, or are you just 100% behind them no matter what?

I'm asking out of respectful curiosity, no other reason.

Laughing can we link the old board? convenient if not....

I've gone around in circles with you, you have said yourself SEVERAL times before the season the team was headed in the "right direction" to which I've protested in at least 3 threads it's a different direction we don't know if it's right yet.

Slow plodding approach as you call it, that's comical because EVERY SUCCESSFUL rebuild has done it that way, Keep what talent you have and build towards the future, but to gut the roster of ANY talent to start at square one NEVER works.

Nah were better off with Hayes instead of Smith, re-write history some more man.
I thought it was fair when we lost 28-2 against the Chiefs.

Sarah is an idiot.  I never voted for her.  She may be viewed as the Queen of Alaska by outsiders, but most that live here think she's a beautiful, stupid turd.

It was Caldwell's wife, and it wasn't an accent.  It was an uneducated pronunciation.  Maybe it bothered me more because I assumed the wife of the GM should know what team he works for is all.

Brits have their own pronunciations.  Using their term for cigarettes might get them some GLBT hate over here.
What's going to happen in 2014 when we cut Mincey, Poz, Alualu, Henne, Gabbert, Lewis, Uche - and end up with $30-40 M in dead money?  Even with the 1st pick, this team isn't going to go out and spend a fortune on FA in 2014.

This is a multi-year rebuild.  We're not going to be playoff contenders in 2014 or even 2015.

Quote:No not everyone is saying that before this week it was the right direction anyone that objected was told otherwise

It may still be the right direction. We're actually going through a very expected demolition phase. So great, they demolished the asbestos ridden building that the last guy left. It'll be three years before we can see what they build in its place. Buckle up.

Laughing 2016 that's what we're shooting for?
The ONLY reason I think we gutted the roster from any talent basically is that Caldwell really had the foresight that there is a future star at QB and the only way to get him is to make sure you get the #1 pick.

Will it be worth it?  Maybe.  I can't take another year of 2 wins or 0 wins.

For me, next year needs to be a legitimate improvement.  At LEAST 5 wins, and competitive in most games.

Quote:You don't build a winner overnight unless you get lucky (qb).

Or you know what you are doing from the get go.

Baby, you need to lighten up some....you're gonna give yourself a stoke worrying about how someone pronounces a word!

I'm over it now.   Was just a temporary fixation.  Lithium in, angst out.
