LOL.  A trade would have triggered a drug test that he likely would have failed.

They should have been shopping him back when they were trading Monroe.

I really doubt anybody would have traded for him the week he came off suspension.
Sour Diesel claims another.

Idiot.

Dont let the door hit ya in the [BLEEP].

Trade value = 0

How about the contract Smith negotiated? They can recoup some money..no?  If so, I hope they do.

He is a waste. Or wasted. Like his pick in the draft

Dammmmittt.

Fixed

He came out and had monster games in weeks 5 and 6. The team should have been shopping him around. Maybe it falls through but if they didn't try then Caldwell is an idiot. This isn't a team that is in position to put up with someone with as little regard for those around him as Blackmon has.
Quote:Do you really think the team just found out today that he would be suspended?

Seeing as he played Sunday, I'm guessing there was a post game test (probably back in the US) which he failed and the suspension was announced as soon as the results were in. The earliest this could have happened is Monday, but probably later. Why would the NFL wait if he had been found to be substance abusing? This is just guesswork though, I have no idea how it works.

Anyway, my comment related back to a back and forth I had with D6 where we agreed that although he is a great player, he is a guy who has shown considerable off the field issues. Any decision to trade him has to be done with those who work with him on a daily basis assessing his mental state and judging from there whether he is likely to do anything else stupid, because he is far too talented to just trade away unless there are other factors at play. Turns out there were and those whose job it was to make that assessment failed.

Exactly. No team is going to trade quality picks for a player fresh off strike 2.

This is just a ridiculous assertion. He was showing he could live up to the hype so we should trade him.

Seeing as his career has hit the intersection of Matt Jones way and RJ Soward Boulevard, maybe we should have just tried to get a ham sandwich. Ninja

Just stop.  Caldwell is an idiot for keeping a guy around that was looking to be an amazing player -  and Gabbert is clutch.  We get it.   You're the idiot.

Actually, with the announcement coming three days after the trade deadline, the "personnel meeting" that occurring two days ago, and now this announcement. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jaguars got the news because of the physical required to finalize a trade.

Definitely a possibility.

I'm the idiot for predicting Blackmon wasn't done being an addict and it'd be best to see if the team could get something for him ASAP.

Yeah, I'm the idiot. :whistling:

Now that is a damn intriguing post my friend.
Its those dang Brits I tell ya. One week in the land of New Castle and the proximity to Amsterdam..and zing..a cold one and one hit off the wooden shoe bong and off he goes

That's certainly possible, but we'll never know.

Why couldn't you have been right about Gabbert?

Well unlike the classy posters we have around here lashing out at me I was able to at least admit I was wrong about him and that he's plateaued at bad just like Henne.

I'm guessing there will be chatter, it looks significantly better for Caldwell if he tried to dump the guy rather than if he sat there and waited for his addicted prized player to get pinged.

I disagree that Caldwell would look better. This is a guy they wanted to build around.

The only idiot here regardless is Blackmon.
