Quote:We have been looking for a good receiver forever. Now that it looks like we might have one, we are going to trade him? I don't believe that.
never believe the hype...
Quote:Trolololol
This ^^^ was the 3rd post based on the OP's original question about trading JB... This should have been the end of the convo...
Quote:If DC trades JB, at least that lets us know what our future holds. We will be really great, or really bad. No in-between.
LOL at this..^^^^ So trading a pick that clearly shows he's top notch because he has off field issues has a chance of being great? C'mon. Gene Smith was the one that squirmed away from taking players that had character issues... Yes, JB has issues off the field. I wonder why Jerry Jones didn't trade off Dez Bryant after his many off field incidents his first 2 years.
Quote:That includes the source of this rumor. Sounds to me like someone flinging something at a wall to see what sticks.
Good eye, FBT. Let the weak sauce cross.
Quote:Which brings us to our next subject... Don't smoke crack!
This ^^^^^ should be the
denouement (french for conclusion) of the entire thread...
Blackmon ain't going nowhere.
First round picks sometimes do not work out as every GM knows. A proven, budding star, a difference maker, is therefore worth MORE than
just one first round selection by logic.
If someone offered two 1st round picks, then perhaps Caldwell might pause and think about it.
But so far, it's all talk and not talk by the people who count.
If you wanted proof that the NFL media doesn't pay attention to the Jaguars, well, there you go.
Blackmon is probably the safest player on the team next to Joeckel right now.
Quote:I don't get the logic behind anyone wanting to trade away Blackmon, it's not like WR with his skill set are easy to find. You don't trade away TOP players at PREMIUM positions especially when they're YOUNG. That's what we are looking for young, top tier talent and premium positions.
Has anybody really said that wanted to trade Blackmon?
As long as i'm in the stands and players are on the field... I could care less about character issues.... i have never gone to watch a player express his good character on the field.
Quote:Shorts had 143 yds receiving in week 3.
And don't say "garbage time" - that's where Brown got half of his too.
Blackmon is good and helps the other side - but you are de-valuing Shorts to suit your agenda. Not to mention assuming teams want to give away the farm for an injured player.
During the first 4 weeks Shorts had 26 rec for 274 yards. Only 3 Rec and 35 yards came during the first half. Thats TOTAL for 4 games in the first half without Blackmon there.
Of all the Qbs ints 3/4 of them have been on passes intended for Cecil Shorts and 4 have come directly from him dropping the ball without the defender actually touching the ball in any way. He did that twice in the indy game alone.
Seems like you are just trying to attack a known dubious poster without bothering to check any kinds of facts. During the Seattle game you mentioned Shorts had 1 rec for 15 yards in the first half. For the first 3 quarters he had 3 recs for 77 yards with 59 of them coming on one play. He got half his yards in the 4th quarter alone.
He is good but not that good people and Blackmon is the best WR on the team period. Without him the offense has shown to shutdown at the first sign of trouble and never recover. Shorts has actually been the reason the offense has shutdown during games this season. Look at the play by plays and you will see tons of incompletions towards him as well.

I don't think you understand why character matters.
I would love to see our corp consist of Blackmon, Shorts and Tavon Reece from Baylor, with Teddy throwing it around the yard

You could? How much less?
You may not have gone to watch a player express his good character on the field, but you've probably had times when the lack of character off the field prevented you from seeing certain players on the field.

Exactly. I am sure Patriots fans didn't care about Aaron Hernandez's character last year. I bet they care this year.

Not sure murdering 2 guys is on the same level as getting high in Oklahoma when comparing peoples character.

I didn't say that

Very true, but both will keep a player off the field.
Edit: I'd also like to add, the best receiver in Jags history had some pretty serious issues as well.

I love this post. I had been wondering how many of Shorts 450+ receiving yards had come during garbage time, so basically about 415.. remarkable. Blackmon had 100+ or very near 100+ by halftime of each game.
He would have had more against SD if they would have targeted him more instead of Dropsies, I mean Shorts. Can't wait to see what next year brings with a good QB.

And it cost him the first four games of a season in 2003 and likely forced him to retire. And has continued to plague him since retirement.
I do not see where all.this top 5 wr is coming from..... It's like he is the second coming from this board
Did nobody else see him practically disappear last week in double coverage? He was good at st Louis and exceptional at Denver(the worst pass d in the NFL)
Line and QB may not have helped but he is good with a high ceiling but not megatron
Depends on what teams are offering
For a first no for a first second and change on a team that desperately needs quality and has relative depth at wr I would throw him to the wolves
Blackmon, Evans, Watkins, or Lee? Given Caldwell's history of dreads, it looks like we'll be in position to trade Blackmon and draft Watkins.
