Quote:If you were guaranteed a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft for Blackmon, you would be dumb not to take it.
I totally disagree.
Blackmon is a stud playmaker that also is the level of player that helps make those around him better. i.e. Shorts/ or whomever on the other side., because he draws that much attention of the defense.
These kind of players don't grow on trees.
If you trade anyone (WR), its C3PO, as he CAN be replaced and his numbers are hollow - but are good enough to possibly sucker some other team into overpaying.
Any thoughts of trading B14CKMON need not be entertained. Not even close. A team would have to relinquish a 1st, 2nd and 4th to get B14CKMON. Set the bar extremely high so that no team would bite and if a team did bite, consider the trade. He's too valuable to trade...

Quote:As much potential as Justin Blackmon has, if a team offered the Jaguars a top 10 pick, if I was in the Jaguars position I would cash in my chips. With Blackmon being one strike from a year long suspension, at least for me a top 10 pick would be too good to pass up.
Jury is still out on if our GM could utilize that pick. Cyprien isn't looking too good for a #33 pick.

and Jared Allen also was sitting on 2 strikes as well, remember?....
The Jags would be outright fools to deal Blackmon away for a single top 10 selection.

People have got to realize what a talent we have in Blackmon and how many times we have missed badly in the first round. What if we get another Harvey, Alualu, Leftwich, M. Jones, Gabbert, R. Williams... You guys can take all those players because we could easily get one in return for Blackmon, I would keep Blackmon a proven talent even when he is lacking talent at the QB position. He is just a special player that rarely comes around. Right now he is essentially the only offensive spark plug we have, and everyone wants to trade that for an unproven player in the draft when we have had so much misfortune previously. I simply don't understand that whatsoever.

And if this team WAS offered a top 10 pick in the upcoming draft for Blackmon, and the team didn't take it, guess who would be squealing the loudest about how incompetent the front office is?
Quote:What are we not getting here?
No team is going to offer a top 10 pick for Blackmon. That's easy enough to guarantee considering the fact that the teams mentioned as being possible suitors for any trade arrangement won't be picking in the top 10 of the 2014 draft. In reality, any team that IS projected to be picking in the top 10 won't be trading those picks away for a receiver.
I agree with everything you just said, I was talking about the other guy.

You apparently. I wouldn't take that trade. No way.
A player reaches his second season and we need to trade him so we can continue rebuilding? That's ridiculous.

I would put Brandon Marshall over Blackmon right now and Mia. got 2 3rd round picks for Marshall and he wasn't one mistake away from a year suspension
Quote:If true, then the current front office is incompetent.
You don't actually believe this.
But your internet schtick has gone all in on Blackmon and can't change course now.

Exactly.
Blackmon is a fixture that you build around, not play the shell game with. You do that & guess what? You almost certainly lose.

No team is going to offer the deal, but you've confirmed you're an expert in incompetence.

I wouldn't trade CSIII either. Our receiving corp is the best that we've had in eight years. They are finally healthy and will be playing together for the first time this season.

That's the thing. Nobody is getting traded from the WR corps.

Say what, now? Ace has a concussion, Shorts can barely lift his arm over his head, and JB is playing through a hammy and a groin strain.

CSIII is replaceable. Mike Brown had 120 yards on the other side of Blackmon last game. Thats the point - Blackmon is the lynch pin here. He helps make that other tandem receiver go.
If another team offered the Jags a top 45 pick for CS3 I'd drive him to that teams town myself.

I'm not sure that I'd choose Marshall above B14CKMON albeit he's a good receiver. B14CKMON will have a better career than Marshall...

More like the opposite. You shouldn't even be offering opinions here if you believe what you are saying. You don't trade Blackmon away for a single top 10 pick.
