Lets cut every player and play nothing but rookies all season long. Is that your answer?

The problem is that some people are expecting rookies to immediately be better than the players they replaced. The true, fair test will be comparing players on the roster in 2 - 3 years to how the players they replaced are doing then.

But you can't deny that Gus and Dave retained these guys you claim are crap that Gene drafted can you?

We're waiting for a yes or no.

Chief got the strings hook up to you guys and putting on one heck of a puppet show.

Yes Chief he should have cut the entire team and not retained any.  Should have started at zero and rebuilt from there.
With the youth that comes with the roster turnover comes inexperience and a learning curve.

Our first three games we played the chiefs, who've had some bad years and just needed a quarterback, they got one.

the raiders another perennial 'bad team" but further along in rebuilds than us....also got a qb.

And the 'hawks, a team coming up to the top of their game and one of the best in the nfl.

First half we held our own compared to first two games.

Give the young guys the experience they need (comes from the butt whippings we've gotten)...and for

goodness sakes....get us a freaking quarterback!

If anybody needs to go its these two chumps.

Quote:The only thing keeping me interested in this team right now is the fact that the Clots went from 2-14 to 11-5 just by drafting a QB, and TB is better than Luck, so I expect 12-4.

2014 Draft: QB, C, G, G, G, G, G

I think the Jaguars have good weapons at the skill positions. If they get a good QB, such a turnaround is possible. Especially in the AFC which seems to be getting weaker by the day. The hard part is finding a franchise QB. Clearly the Jaguars missed 2 years ago. And they are paying the price. Now this new regime will get their turn. You have to hope they don't miss too.
Quote:Chiefs right, name ONE position we improved this off-season.

The fact we can't name one position we improved means one of two things:

A.) We went into this season with the plan of sucking and figured we'd just gut the roster and evaluate whatever was left over, an extended preseason if you will

B.) We thought we upgraded a few position but made the wrong moves and are now worse at those said positions.

Either way that's a backwards way to build a roster, you don't go back to then go forward again, forget whatever analogies you've heard in the past.

Every week I'm becoming less and less confident in this new "direction", that so many are ready to deem the "right" direction already.

If I'm trying to get to New York and I start out going South then all of the sudden decide to go West, I'm still going the WRONG Direction, feels like this rebuild right now.

Our starting RT a year ago was Guy Whimper. Joeckel is a vast improvement even as an inexperienced rookie changing positions.

I know you have this absurd man crush for Derek Cox, but he walked away from the Jags. They tried to extend his deal and he passed. So, please, either root for the Chargers or grab a clue. This team had to be blown up to move forward. It's way too soon to know if their approach is right or not.

Based on your own personal history, you should know well enough that sometimes it takes time to turn things around. Get out of the microwave oven mentality and allow actual time for this to develop. This team is 3 games into a rebuild, and faced one of the top teams in the league today on their turf. This game was destined to be ugly when you look at all of he Jags NOT on the field, and the overall youth of those who are. It'll take time and patience.

How funny! Gus and Dave have determined that every one of those players you mentioned were worthy of keeping??? Gus and Dave KEPT those players!!!! Can you possibly understand how ignorant that is? Those players Gus and Dave KEPT for Pete's sake, yet you want to blame Gene for Gus keeping them!!!! Wow!!!

Gus and Dave OWN this roster. If this roster is crap, Gus and Dave assembled it.

You are delusional. I don't care about Gus and Dave and I can care less for Gene Smith. All I have to say to you is you were willing to give that joke of GM Gene Smith 4 years to destroy this team. Now you are complaining about the new regime after a few games?! Take off your Gene Smith glasses bro. You are laughable.

The new regime cannot turn the roster over in one year. It's just impossible. The players I listed were just drafted by Gene Smith and are under their first contract. No point of dumping them off. Gus and Dave are currently giving them a chance to prove themselves to see if anything can be salvaged but obviously they can't cut it. I won't expect these players to be here for long.
Keep the faith, enjoy the riden and I would say give the new guys some time. 3 weeks is a bit early to hit the panic button.
I'm also not advocating to blindly agree with everything the new guys in charge have done. You're entitled to your opinion and I have my issues with things they've done or people they've hired. My point is it's too early to know if what they are doing is right and some of you probably had top high of expectations coming into this year. They laid things out for the fans about as clearly as they could have.

Wow. Gus and Dave are "giving them a chance to prove themselves" when they are Gene's picks?? You are clueless dude. It's hilarious how you can claim they are retained by Gus and Dave to "prove themselves". Hahahahah. Gus and Dave are responsible for this roster if this roster sucks, it's their roster.

Good grief. This is not Gene's roster numbskull. Gus and Dave turned this roster over by more than 50% and kept the players they wanted to keep. This is THEIR roster since they assembled it. There is not a single player on this roster they were forced to keep. Unbelievable.

So why did Gene Smith get the benefit of the doubt when you're not doing the same with Dave Caldwell?  Because once upon a time Tom Coughlin endorsed Gene Smith?  Which is meaningless in any case because even if Gene Smith was a good scout, that doesn't mean he'd make a good General Manager.

Gene Smith took this team over in much better shape than he left it.  He had a Quarterback 3x more talented than what we have now (which isn't saying a whole lot), a much younger Maurice Jones-Drew.  And his drafting put us in this position.

What did you think Caldwell was going to do?  Come in, pluck some players off the magic tree?  He had to pick up Free Agents and had 7 draft picks to work with.   Caldwell was practically forced to keep a few players, because of contract issues along with the availability of free agents.  There were no Quarterbacks available for him to take.  None of them were worth it when it came time for the Jaguars to pick in the draft.  And Free Agency offered little to nothing.
Gene Smith has completely screwed this organization as a GM. It takes time to do the rebuild. We have to give Dave and Gus sometime. Lets hope they put the team in contention in two years (2015). The moment Gene drafted a punter (who btw is having an MVP year) in the third round I told myself Gene would beat Shack Harris and it turned out so. Shack Harris had first round misses but he had some hits in the second and later rounds. Gene didn't have first round hits not did he have base hits in the second round.

I don't think Joeckel or Cyprien are better than Bradfield and Landry yet. Hopefully they will be soon.

Linebacker is only true if you consider Bosworth the Starter instead of Daryl Smith.

DT's are better than last year, but not as good as 2011 when Knighton was healthy.

The only position I'd consider better at this point is slot receiver.

Like i said, you are absolutely full of crap, and a hypocrite. Your credibility is lost. You gave Gene his entire tenure, and now you only give Caldwell and Bradley 3 games. Most of these guys are genes guys, and no, you cant release all of them and have 53 new faces.
There's no point of continuing this discussion. If you are so unhappy Chief, drink a cold one and pick another team to root for. You won't be missed.  Smile

I absolutely consider anyone replacing a player who spent last season injured more than he was healthy an upgrade. 2011 is light years ago in NFL terms. Joekel is better than Bradfield right now. You made a wise choice not bringing Whimper into the conversation.

As for the rookies, get back to me in their second and third years, and compare them to the players we released at that same time.

This is going to be a long year.

I'd disagree with all of those, right now the oline isn't playing any better then last year at any position.

We've stayed the course at Safety, Lowery is still starting next to Cyprien who is the bright spot on this squad right now but the secondary isn't playing any better, we're getting torched all over the field.

you're joking about linebacker and DT right?
