You're cute! I've held season tickets since 1993. Can you match that? And I own a bar drinking a cold one now. I have every right to criticize this team all I want. You don't like it, I'm not sorry!!

Quote:Our starting RT a year ago was Guy Whimper. Joeckel is a vast improvement even as an inexperienced rookie changing positions.

I know you have this absurd man crush for Derek Cox, but he walked away from the Jags. They tried to extend his deal and he passed. So, please, either root for the Chargers or grab a clue. This team had to be blown up to move forward. It's way too soon to know if their approach is right or not.

Based on your own personal history, you should know well enough that sometimes it takes time to turn things around. Get out of the microwave oven mentality and allow actual time for this to develop. This team is 3 games into a rebuild, and faced one of the top teams in the league today on their turf. This game was destined to be ugly when you look at all of he Jags NOT on the field, and the overall youth of those who are. It'll take time and patience.

I have no problem with taking the patience approach, I took it for 3 of Gene's 4 years, what I'm not ok with is blindly rubber stamping every move this new regime makes.

My issue isn't with what happend today alone, it's with the approach we've gone about this third rebuild in the last decade. I have issue with getting worse to get better, I bring up Derek Cox because it's a prime example of getting worse at a position forcing us to spend 2 draft picks in the secondary and ignoring obvious problems elsewhere on the roster.

You can joke about it being man crushes cause sarcasm is your thing, fine, but the point stands, this new regime made SEVERAL big changes I'm not ready to rubber stamp them as the right direction.
LOL, Gene left the roster decimated and he gave away HUGE sums in signing bonuses to players who are either no longer on the roster or won't be next year (Lewis, Poz, Mincey to name a few....)

This is a 3-5 year rebuild.  You don't go out and spend huge sums on free agents when you have so little talent to begin with.

Sometimes you have to look at the bright side.  At least the team is young and likely will get the number 1 pick in the draft.

You also failed to renew your tickets because you were upset with khan, then decided it was because of a lack of friends who renewed. Does reminding every one that you own a restaurant all the time make you feel better about yourself?

Most older people I've ever known are a little less quick to whine and complain about everything and throw a hissy fit. I guess thats where age and wisdom kicks in. What's really bothering you?
Chief mad at the world ya'll.

Yes, I can. Season ticket holder in the North End Zone, Section 124. Own two seats and drive 300 miles from Boynton Beach, FL to see my team on Sundays. Stop by and say hi when you are the stadium next time.

Quote:I'd disagree with all of those, right now the oline isn't playing any better then last year at any position.

We've stayed the course at Safety, Lowery is still starting next to Cyprien who is the bright spot on this squad right now but the secondary isn't playing any better, we're getting torched all over the field.

you're joking about linebacker and DT right?

The OL as a whole is not playing better, but you asked about a single position. I take it you're a big fan of Guy Whimper and Cam Bradfield.

Again, you're changing the argument. The safety position is improved, where did I say anything about the CBs and NBs?

I guess you're a fan of Bosworth, too, eh? Or are you not aware that Daryl Smith barely played last year?

No, I'm not joking about DTs. Marks is better than either Alualu or Knighton, take your pick.
I don't understand why criticism of Dave and Gus equates to not giving them time? I don't see anyone suggesting to give either of them a pink slip today, I see plenty of people saying we've made some poor choices in a relatively short period of time making this process much harder. Others saying it's a wash this year, it's all the previous guys fault.

Bottom line we've got a ton of work to do, lets not make the process harder.

Neither were cut.

Unless you're a fly on Dave's wall, you have no idea what it would have taken to keep either one of them.
Quote:Wow. Gus and Dave are "giving them a chance to prove themselves" when they are Gene's picks?? You are clueless dude. It's hilarious how you can claim they are retained by Gus and Dave to "prove themselves". Hahahahah. Gus and Dave are responsible for this roster if this roster sucks, it's their roster.

I don't know if you believe what you're saying or not as you are normally a sensible poster on this board.  I also don't know why you're dumping on Gus and Dave even if you think Gene Smith and Mularkey should have been given more time.  Gus and Dave had nothing to do with the decision to let Gene and Mularkey go, so why are they drawing your ire?  They are our GM and coach for the forseeable future now.  Although it is their roster now, as you say, it's not as if Caldwell had the entire league to draft from or sign in his first offseason.  He had a basket of turds that were handed to him and a small pool of turds to select from in free agency, some of which did not want to come to the Jaguars anyway which made the small pool of turds even smaller.  As of right now, you should be judging Caldwell more on his draft than anything else as that is the only pool of turds where you have the possibility of finding a gem behind all the turds and the gem can't choose to go elsewhere.  I think the early results on Caldwell's draft are that it appears to be at least above average.  Let's give it time to see how this all unfolds.
Quote:Good grief. This is not Gene's roster numbskull. Gus and Dave turned this roster over by more than 50% and kept the players they wanted to keep. This is THEIR roster since they assembled it. There is not a single player on this roster they were forced to keep. Unbelievable.

Boy... do you want some cheese to go with that wine?

Everyone knows the NFL is all about the QB. Once we get a better one next year and give this regime another season to build their roster, then we can talk.

As it stands now, we lost to the 3-0 Chiefs, the 3-0 Seahawks (in seattle) and the raiders on the west coast where we never play well.

You are losing your mind old man.

Joeckel isn't playing any better then Whimper or Bradfield yet, I hope and expect by the end of the year he will be, but as of right now he's being pushed around at RT, never mind he was the 2nd overall pick.

Cyprien has laid some nice hits, he had a nice strip for a fumble today on a blitz, but I wouldn't consider it an upgrade over Landry. Our Safeties played pretty good last year, as did most of the secondary.

Bosworth wasn't a starter he was filling in for an injured starter, Daryl Smith was more then healthy enough to play this year, we let him walk even deep into free agency and replaced him with Geno Hayes, tell me that's an upgrade PLEASE.

I've got nothing for you if you think anyone on this defensive line is an upgrade over last year. We're get slashed up the middle, on the outside, no pass rush, no containment. Miller and Marks are upgrades? If anything they're barely treading water as staying the course.

Do you know what rebuilding means?

Please Daryl Smith was in Free Agency until the FINAL weeks of the off-season. Neither signed for crazy money, if the team wanted either of these two they could've been had.

Why is it so hard to admit Dave made his assessment that he could find better options, lets see if he did.
Although it is true many of Gene's players are gone, the fact that we again heard a mispronunciation of Alualu tells me we still have at least one guy he should not have picked.

Quote:Do you know what rebuilding means?

There isn't a Jaguar fan alive that doesn't know what rebuilding means, it's our constant theme.

Point remains you don't have to get worse to get better.

It's hard to debate someone who keeps changing the parameters.
I'm just curious what you expect Gus to do with this roster? What is his job exactly?

How did the parameters change, I just went over each position you pointed out player by player. Keep up

To get better, it's simple.
