Chief has been drinking a lot lately. That + anger is a bad combination. Chief, you may want to get out of the bar.
It took Eric until gene drafted a punter in the 3rd round to be critical. Guess he won't make the same mistake twice. He was critical of this regime before we played a game.
One thing I saw today that I've seen in the other two games. The team hasn't quit, they are playing hard. They continue to grind even with game out of hand. I like that. Hope they will continue doing so.
Cyprien as a rookie had a sack fumble against a very good offense. I call that progress in his 3rd game. Joeckle also has played solid as of late
I can crack a walnut with my bicep.
I can't believe there's people trying to say Joekel's outplayed Whimper so far. Really?
How many touchdowns has Joekel caught? Exactly. Case closed.
It took Carroll 3 seasons to turn the Seahawks around into a yearly contender, and Carroll inherited a much better roster. At least give Bradley this year before you irrational people blow him off. This team is not very talented but I can see improvement each week against very tough opponents and that makes me optimistic.
People are even blaming Gus and Dave now for the terrible years before they got here. Hilarious.
Chief is an old man who is not used to change. It happens as you age. He hates the new regime and owner, and has let it be known. He is a complete hypocrite right now, as he gave Gene all the time in the world. The guy who actually put us in this mess.
What are some of you expecting, 53 new pro bowlers? Remember last year? Lot of the same team, and guess who is our QB this year? O thats right, Henne and Gabbert. Everyone knew we were going to stink this year, and yes, i believe Gus and Dave expected this, and are probably tanking this season a bit so we can get a franchise QB next year. Both of these guys know what you need to win in this league.
Chief, nobody is buying your crap. Go ahead and whine and cry. Blame these guys for your idols failures. When we get Bridgewater next year, we will all just point and laugh at you

Make a stupid post, you get stupid replies.
Quote:Rah, rah, rah. You and Dave assembled this roster, you hired this staff, you paid the coordinators, you manage the game, you coach the players, you run the practices, you motivate the team......................JUST DO YOUR JOB!!!!

I know its time for Gus to at least seem concerned, im glad he believes in them but everyone else believes the team will get the 1st overall draft pick.

Did you see his post game presser? He's concerned. He's not passing the buck, or acting as if nothing is wrong. He's just a guy who exudes a positive aura. That's just who he is by nature. He's not going to trash anyone, including his players or coaches, and especially not in the media. There's no point. He did say there were areas where it's possible that the coaching isn't getting through to the players, and he takes responsibility for that as the head coach. He's being accountable for the coaches not doing the best they can do to reach marginal talent.
If you've seen him interviewed recently elsewhere, he's done a very nice job of pointing out that the players are giving everything they can. He's making it clear there's a lack of talent on the roster currently, but they're doing what they can to get the most out of it just the same. He's just not going to take the negative approach by actually SAYING the roster is light on talent.
A lot of ballbusting on the Chief. I'm curious, how many here are season ticket holders as long as him? Calling him an old man may be hazardous to someones health, and I'm sure these keyboard bad boys wouldn't do it in person for fear of being hospitalized with an old mans boot in their [BLEEP]. But for someone who has sat in the stands for as long as the "old men" have, it can certainly be understood at the frustration this organization has caused. Sadly, my best years and memories were the early years..the Dolphin beat down, Morts missed FG, the "Jagwads" in Denver.
The NFL isn't about 4-5 year rebuilding anymore, and when you gut a complete team, then move home games away, bring in huge tv screens, win less than 3 games, raise ticket prices...it seems like all fluff and no substance. Marketing has certainly took precedence this year.
Patience? What would one call sitting in the stands for over 17 years? And for those who clamor for Bridgewater, this team needs a lot more than that. For every Luck or Manning theres a Tebow, Leinhart and Young out there.
They need to pick up a veteran QB next year and not throw a rookie in right away...not with the host of other needs this team needs.
Two things I have issue with the team at the moment....
The organization (or maybe the media) seem to broadly blame the poor performance on needed roster turnover with the new regime. I think this has merit on the defensive side of the ball and to some degree on special teams. However, the offense has been horrible, and this starting unit does not get to use this excuse. Of the 11 base offense starters, only one (Joeckel) is a rookie (two if you include Sanders when they are in a 3 WR set).
Secondly, they chose not to spend or use almost $20m in cap space this year. I agree that there were not many "A" players in free agency, but there were quite a few "B" players in free agency that would have been upgrades to this roster. Thank you for the current and future facility improvements, but the core entertainment product (the team) could have used more of an investment. If you choose to "save money" on the roster, in this case, you get what you pay for.

Wrong. I said I don't trust Khan but never said one negative word about Bradley or Caldwell. Now I'm saying they own this team.
And you have the audacity to say Caldwell and Dave are "tanking" so we can get a new QB?? Wow, now that right there is reason to like them. HIre a coach and GM who are purposely tanking the season. Do you think Khan knows this? Do you want them to be GM and coach again next year if you know they have this character trait to purposely tank a season? Do you want to buy tickets to a game knowing the coach is tanking the season? Do you think players want to play for a coach who is purposely tanking? Wow. Just Wow.

My issue is with whoever keeps using the roster turnover excuse when referencing the poor play of the offense. I hear it from various sources, both in the media, the team, and the team's media (ie. Oehser).

Who from the team do you hear that from?
The Chief is coming strong with the dumb these days.
My two year old has more poignant and intelligent tantrums than the one Chief is on.

Roster turnover CAN be an issue because one of the most critical components for effective play on either side of the ball is continuity. Whether you're talking about an offensive line, skill positions, or on the defensive side of the ball, the more cohesive an experienced a team is playing together as a unit, the more effectively they will execute the plays. It's not an excuse. It's a fact. Have you ever played the game?
With the poor play of the offensive line, part of the issue aside from suspect talent in the middle of the line is the fact that they're being asked to do something this year they haven't done previously. Then you toss a rookie into the mix. An offensive line needs time to gel.
If you're looking for a decent passing game in the NFL, it has a lot to do with timing. That chemistry comes with repetition. We've seen our starting receiving corps consist of Cecil Shorts III and a cast of guys. We're missing Blackmon, and forcing Sanders to play out of position. We're also missing our starting QB and TE who are sitting on the sideline, and our starting RB can't seem to get healthy.
So, not only is turnover an issue, but availability is as well.
All of this contributes to the lackluster offensive play.
Look at the better offenses in the league and how they operate. It's like watching a Swiss watch operate. Every part has a purpose, and everything works with precision. If you take a part out, the entire watch stops working. If you put inferior parts in, it doesn't work correctly, or is prone to breaking. The same thing is true if you put a poorly fit part into the watch.
Good offenses make it look easy and efficient. We don't have a good offense, and we are thin on talent. So, when we do lose someone who is actually a major component, it derails the entire unit.
It will be interesting to see if there is any significant improvement once we've got Gabbert, Lewis, Blackmon, and MJD back on the field and healthy. If the offense doesn't start clicking once they've shaken off the rust, then we've got an even deeper hole to climb out of. We already know one piece of that is probably gone next year with MJD. We know that the QB is probably on his last leg as a starter here. But, if all of the parts are on the field, the hope is we'll see improved play from that unit. It'll still be a group that's lacking for talent in certain areas, but we can be creative to scheme away from our weaknesses, even involving the lousy line play of late.

If they're intentionally tanking games to land a prized draft pick, they should be run out of town on a rail. I don't think that's what they're doing. I think they made the decision to go heavy into the rebuild phase to try to accelerate the turnaround. We've seen a piece meal rebuild in the past, and that didn't work. We'll see if this approach makes any difference within the next year or two. If their plan has merit, we should start to see things turning around next season.
