Quote:I wrote in sanders. Hillary and trump are awful people and won't get my vote.

The dems are going to lose this election. Trump has done a better job of energizing his base. I don't think many people want to vote for her whole many want to vote for him. The left is apathetic and the right smells blood.

Fair enough.  At least you're not willing to sell out because the candidate has a D after her name. I suspect the dems are going to be shocked by how many people will actually do what you did, or simply not vote for the top of the ticket.  I know someone who just bypassed the presidential vote and only focused on the down ballot races.
Quote:This is my stance as well.

Both are a poop sandwich.  "The Donald" is a smaller portion to swallow than "The Hillary," so if it must be done it must be done.

That's pretty much where I am as well.

Now, I do see the outside potential that Trump might actually be a better president than most anticipate if he wins.  He really has no special interests to pander to, and he sure as heck won't have a lot of support from republican leadership in either the house or senate.  I think, unlike Hillary, Trump has an opportunity to make some real changes because he's an outsider.  By winning, he would essentially blow up the establishment in both parties.  l think that's kind of a necessity at this point.

Regarding the part in bold, I certainly do agree and it makes voting for Trump that much easier.
I admired Bernie for being the most honest respectable candidate, even if I didn't agree with his politics.

I was, however, let down by him falling in line and kissing the ring after the way he was treated.  Maybe one day he'll write a book about it, but he clearly didn't seem pleased, as if he were encouraged not to upset the cart.

For me . The only thing that makes Trump slightly palatable is the fact that he is NOT a career politician. IMO they are the largest problem in D.C. Their only concern is their own longevity. It will not be with a feeling of confidence that I will mark his box. Only slight hope that more of the same will come to an end or at least start it's demise.

Quote:His point was that there wasn't anyone on the ballot that was worthy of his vote.

That is why John McCain will vote for Lindsay Graham. Any write-in candidate counts as someone not on the ballot.
Quote:What is even scarier is I know someone who is very conservative in every aspect of life but votes democrat because, and this is a quote from a man who worked for and retired from a telephone company, "the rich man never did anything for me so why would I vote for one?"

No, that rich man who owned that telephone company didn't employ you and give you good pay and benefits at all. And those Democrat politicians, they all live like the people they champion. They're not rich at all. Yeah, right.

"The rich man" means the telephone company employee was specifically talking about Donald Trump. What has Donald Trump done to employ your friend at a telephone company? Nothing.
Quote:His point was that there wasn't anyone on the ballot that was worthy of his vote.

You should know better.   Good luck with your next 12 rounds of communication .....
Quote:"The rich man" means the telephone company employee was specifically talking about Donald Trump. What has Donald Trump done to employ your friend at a telephone company? Nothing.

Her point was though, the employee hates "the rich man" because of his wealth relative to the employee, but the employee doesn't realize that a "rich man" probably owns the very company that has given him a means to make a living.
I applaud you guys who are voting for Trump even though you really don't like him for it. I want to keep Clinton as far away from the WH as possible, but I just cannot vote for Trump. Johnson is not my ideal Libertarian candidate, I like Austin Peterson much better, and I'm fairly sure Johnson will not win so it's almost like I'm throwing my vote away. But I just can't vote Trump. My husband will so there is that.

And FBT could be right. Trump as POTUS could be surprisingly good for the reasons he stated. I would rather it be that than the total cluster I envision in my head. I just don't know.....

Exactly this. And he doesn't hate the 'rich man' per se, he just doesn't see how the 'rich man' can understand the working man's POV and want to help the working man in any way. He comes from a very humble background and is a very good man who truly hates no one, so this is a puzzle to me. Well.....there is the Bernie Madoff thing. He did lose a lot of his retirement in that debacle, but he's always felt this way so that's not the problem though I know it didn't help matters.

Thank you for answering JIB. I wouldn't have seen her response and not answered.

When I lived in Ohio, I voted for Republicans because I knew their challengers were going to lose. Nobody wanted to run against John Kasich for the Westerville, Ohio (12th District) HR office. That changed after the state treasurer I voted for spent four years criticizing Governor Ted Strickland (D) and became Kasich's running mate. I don't regret my vote for her, but it really made me think voting for the popular people in an election is wrong if you don't want them in office.

FBT is wrong if he thinks changes Donald Trump plans to make are good changes that will help America. Sure, he can make a lot of changes. That cannot be denied. But they probably would be terrible.

That's understandable and nothing wrong with that.

This is soley my opinion and I by no means mean to be disrespectful to either you or D6.  As I said before, as a Conservative I feel that this country and the Supreme Court vacancy that needs to be filled is just too important.  In my mind, D6 choosing to write in Ted Cruz and your choosing to vote for another candidate is just a couple of votes for Hillary.

That's OK.  Each person has to vote the way that they think is right.

That being said though, I think people need to take a hard look at where this country is right now, where it was 8 years ago and determine for themselves if they think that we are on the right path.  Consider what a Hillary Clinton presidency would mean for all of us.

Just me personally, but I don't use the "block" feature of the message board.  I personally believe in free speech and everybody's right to express their opinion, even if I disagree with it.

Wrong.  Hillary is the greater threat to our great republic.

The reason is, his aim is for the good of the country.  Hillary's aim is for the continued enrichment of herself both in wealth and power.

How is voting for write-in candidates a vote for Hillary Clinton? They are clearly votes against her and Donald Trump. People like to believe WI votes are for Clinton because of Trump's accusations the election is "rigged" against him. That is not true, of course. If someone wants Clinton to win, voting for her is the right thing to do. She does not get a vote when D6 votes for Ted Cruz.

This is the most important thing when people choose who to vote for. I have heard people say, "It does not matter who you vote for. Just go vote." This means the most important thing is voting, not which person you support. Of course this does not mean simply voting for anybody is the right thing to do. The right way is your way.

You have that backward.

In the case of D6, I happen to know that he is a Conservative.  He does not feel comfortable voting for the Republican nominee, so is voting his conscience.  That means a vote less for Trump.  As far as americus, I don't know her political leaning, but she did state that she doesn't want Hillary as President but refuses to vote for Trump, so again, her non-vote for Trump is essentially a vote for Hillary.

It's really not a vote "for" Hillary, it's pretty much a vote against NOT keeping Hillary out of the Oval Office.

I endured for a very long time until I couldn't take it anymore. Between her and TAM I was ready to pull my hair out. I don't look good bald. They can say whatever they want, it doesn't mean I have to see it.

False. If this were the case, we'd have exported all of our jobs to Japan, where $1.00 American is worth, like, eight trillion yen. Tongue

Right, in your educated opinion, they'd be terrible.

HIllary offers no change, just more of the same.  In polling, between 60 and 70% say the country is heading in the wrong direction.  That has been a pretty consistent trend for at least the last 6 or 7 years if you go back and look at historical trends of Right Direction or Wrong Track, which Rasmussen keeps all of their archives.  If Hillary represents more of the same, she's basically telling us that despite the fact that 2/3 of the voters think the country is headed in the wrong direction, she's going to keep on driving this thing until the Titanic hits an iceberg, and then she'll blame the iceberg on Bush.

I don't know if Trump's changes will be good or bad for the country, but I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt to see what he can accomplish.  He can't screw things up much more than Obama/Clinton have the past 8 years, and the country needs to change direction.  The majority agree.
