This is a guy drafted by Shack 12 years ago, endured the entire Gene Smith Era, stayed through a rebuild, and always worked hard while being a leader for young men. This is not a normal cut of a guy. He deserved way better than this. Anyone who remains sane after the Smith era deserves way better. Disappointing. Cut him if you want, but do the guy right.

That's because the Jaguars' front office really hasn't changed since they announced David Garrard as the starting quarterback at a fan fest then cut him minutes after the team bus returned to the facilities.

Once a laughingstock. Always a laughingstock. A jaguar can change her rosettes, can she?

Rather then listen for their own good, Caldwell listens to the rum bum booze hounds in the local media, who may or may not be getting a piece of the Bortles' contract salary pie.

Caldwell, to save his own skin, is raging against the age old NFL system. He is changing everything and everybody, but Bortles. He is the only soul left around to be professionally TIED to Biff. Coughlin and Marrone are NOT professionally TIED to Bortles'.

You're dying to understand Blake Bortles is still here because he originally was an owner's pick...and remains here because he was an owner's pick.

Just sayin' it's time to lash Shad Khan to Blake Bortles. He's the owner who came up with the clever ploy to draft from Orlando in order to fill seats.

Amazing Rich Eisen refers to Bortles as "the Remover of the Tarps". Where did that idea in his head come from?

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Yes, but you do. Let that sink in for a while.
Buuuwwwaaaa!!!

For years everyone harping to "Cut the giraffe". Now that it's done folks whining about how it was done.

I agree!! Laughed all the way to the title game! Now, let that sink in for awhile.

I see both sides. Its right for Marcedes Lewis to be upset. Its also right for the Jags to not release him until they know if ASJ has signed.

Bottom line... its a business. The Jags did it the only logical way they could have. Emotions are for the cheerleading squad.

Campbell may be cut as we free up some cap room to sign Cousins.  Now that we have some insight of what it's going to take, I think we have the inside advantage.  That "practice free agency" period was pretty cool.  Time to get down to business and sign Cousins and A-Rob

Joking aside --- it was time for him to go.

Why? So they can rub it in his face a little more after him planning on sitting out camp because he was making less than ASJ?

Why do you always say "let that sink in for a while."

Your posts are genuinely funny right away. I didn't think they really needed time to marinate since there was hardly any substance.
Does the option we picked up on Lewis earlier in the year, count against our cap?

LOL

I was thinking the same thing.  Very predictable.

Sadly.

Again... emotion over intellect.  Gotta lash out at someone for something.

It's just business.  Anyone who's ever been laid off knows this.  You move on.  Though, I'm sure his parachute is lined with more gold than any of ours.

It would have been hard to have made this decision (or the Hurns decision) without first finding their replacements.  Hurt feelings or best interest of the club... hmm, wonder which way the FO was leaning...

There's no "perfect" way to say goodbye.  Only the weak dwell on it and get crushed by it.  The strong keep moving on and upward.

It looks like only 250k of a signing bonus will count as a dead cap hit this year.

self induced psychosis

100% parody

Not worth wasting time/effort on either way.

It's amazing how fast JDub Cat 2017 showed up after that other someone got banninated.

While both are/were equally annoying, this new character puts waaaay more effort into being out in left field. The other it seems to come more natural.

There's no perfect way but there is a right way. This is a guy who had to deal with the worst GM and HC in the history of the NFL consecutively. This is just a bad look.

"right way"

"bad look"

...so what?

Are we that fragile that it matters?  There's a real world out there sunshine, and it's not all ponies, unicorns, and rainbows (or sprinkles.)
- I like how these prima donnas feel "disrespected". I pay for my tickets, add $28 to park and pay, what, $10-11 for a beer. Go tell someone who cares.
- I was laid off when my wife was sick and I had 2 kids in college and never saw it coming. I stood by my car in shock in the parking lot of the place where I had worked hard for 18 years. Many of us have had similar experiences. As Pirkster(?) said- his parachute is a little more golden.
- What, Lewis was going to make a difference this year? As pointed out, he'd be lucky to survive camp
- The bit about him being upset that ASJ was signed for more $$ is just laughable
- any guess about what DC's text said is just that- a guess

Yeah, it's a business. Glad to see the Jaguars front office finally treating it that way. Remember the guy from the Giants (with the Olympic wife, I can't think of his name) who said that "... going to the Jags was like going on a 2 year paid vacation"? Those days are gone.
