Didn't they sign ASJ five days ago?

So we're complaining about waiting five days to release Lewis. To my knowledge two TEs were signed elsewhere in that span. Was Lewis in legit competition to land either of those jobs?

Still, I think the Jags could have dealt with it a bit better.  He's been on this team so too long.

fixed
Lewis should of seen the writing on the walls when they went after nearly ever available tight end
I Did Not see this transaction coming at all.

NH3...

Kind of like the innocent wife that logs into the hubby's computer only to find a bunch of pop-ups from match.com
Surprised we haven't heard from the other disrespected one, MJD, yet.

Marcedes is miffed because he missed out on the big days of FA and that being released now instead of earlier will impact how much money he would be able to get on a new team.

It may be wishful thinking on his part that he could have signed a better deal 5 days ago than now, but I can understand why he would be unhappy by not getting the chance to find out.

At the same time, I can understand the jags wanting to make sure they were successful in signing a TE before releasing Marcedes. It's a business and businesses have to be willing to protect themselves even if it means putting someone else in an unfavorable situation.
The jags couldn't release Marcedes until they had someone to replace him with. They just recently signed someone so Lewis is expendable. He may feel a certain kind of way but it's a business.

For years everyone harping to "Cut the giraffe". Now that it's done folks whining about how it was done.

Exactly.

Could it have been done differently so as to be more "friendly" towards Lewis?  Perhaps, but this is a business.  The Front Office handled it just fine in terms of being good for the team as far as I'm concerned.

Unlike many on this board, I've always liked Marcedes Lewis and am glad that he was here while he was.

But these moves have the feel that thy changed their minds about something/someone still out there.

Going after Ndamukong

I really hope not.

"right way"

"bad look"

...so what?

Are we that fragile that it matters?  There's a real world out there sunshine, and it's not all ponies, unicorns, and rainbows (or sprinkles.)

I'm not saying throw a party for the guy. Lets start with communication and transparency for a 12 year vet who was here during absolute jokes of times. Baguars, tarps, worst GM, worst HC, terrible QBs, annual losing seasons and top 5 selections. Decade of a joke of a franchise. He's the only one on the team who IMO deserved a bit better, but carry on. He was our equivalent to CLE Joe Thomas without the star power.
When a team has to consider hanging on to you for sentimental reasons, as opposed to your skillset, then you probably shouldn't be surprised when you get cut

Thanks for the memories though
He was still the best blocker out of any of our TEs so it wasn't like he was useless out there.
Alualu, Poz.. Now this?!

But The Don is back tho
As much as I hate to see him go because he's been through thick and thin with the team, it's time to turn the page. He brings no skill set that can't be replaced and improved upon.
So that means we may still draft a TE early

I'm sure it does.

I'm sure it does.

Only his bonus of $250K is dead cap money.
Sucks for Lewis, he probably will not be picked up by anyone else at his age. Daaang... Thank you for everything buddy.
