As the new face of the socialist movement, I think this gem deserves her own thread. A couple of her nuggets of wisdom to date:

1. Capitalism is dead. She even created a new word for it, hyper-capitalism
2. The low unemployment rate is due to people working two jobs.

Donald, if you are reading this, you need to put this sweet woman on your payroll and keep her in front of the cameras.
The new face of tyranny.
With how often she inserts her foot in mouth, this thread could become interesting.

Cortez said to the camera. “We’re gonna flip this seat red in November.”

Dang, I forgot about that gem. With her and Bernie hitting the road, there is a lot more to come in this thread.
Hey guys maybe now is a good time to point out that she only won a couple thousand votes in her District but it was enough to win the primary.
now the general election ballot will say that she represents the Democratic party even though most Democrats today are not comfortable with her.
She even "won" a neighboring district... with write in votes! Bottom of the cellar turnout rates in primary elections causes this.
This is why we need top two primaries... Or anything else, besides what we have now.

The breadth and depth of her political knowledge are slogans gleaned from leftist protest signs.

My initial impression was this is satire, but given the state of the American left today, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it were real.

The absolute best part of the lunacy will be when the DNC and AOC's campaign start SELLING the merchandise with those images on them to express their absolute disgust with Capitalism. Such a Useful Idiot.

They should go back to the original colors.  Red for Democrat, Blue for Republican.  It never should have been switched by media.

Makes more sense as representative of the two political platforms.

It's probably why the media swapped the colors to begin with - to dis-associate Democrats with red, which represents socialist/communist/anti-capitalist agenda (which is and was an accurate representation.)

As far as Cortez... she's becoming a Sara Palin-like caricature on steroids.

Canada still uses colors along these lines.

Blue is the color of the CPC  ( Conservative Party of Canada ).

Red is the color of the LPC   ( Liberal Party of Canada ).

Orange is the color of the NDP  ( New Democratic Party ).  If there was a U.S. equivalent ,  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would very likely be in the NDP.

Who cares how she won?  The fact that she won immediately catapulted her into star status among your buddies on the left.  They were tripping over themselves trying to catch lightning in a bottle, and then she opened her mouth and offered up not just blatant ignorance, but almost a sense of pride in how little she actually knows.  But, she checks off the boxes for identity politics that libs base their entire world view on, so they'll back her.  They don't have a choice now.

While I have plenty of left wing friends, I'm not a liberal myself.  Believe it or not, it is possible to be friendly with people you disagree with.  I'm proud of this.  You should try it sometime.
As for getting catapulted into star status, initially it looked like a "David beats Goliath" story.  She knocked on doors herself, and defeated a longtime incumbent.  It's the kind of feel good story that catapults folks from left and right to stardom.  Remember David Brat?  Same thing.
As for the Democratic Party, "They don't have a choice" because by New York State law her name will appear on hundreds of thousands of ballots with the word "democrat" next to it.  any attempt to disown her because she's saying bad stuff now would be futile.
This is similar to, but smaller than, the problem Republicans had in 2016 and still have today with Trump.

She's the Dana Rohrabacher of the Democrats.

In more ways than one, she's the Democratic Party's Trump. Way off in left field, no experience, views that are way off of most of the party (and most of America), and appealing so strongly to a select few that they will turn out in droves to get her elected.
