Surely they wouldn't lowball Yan with 3 year 60 mil with only 40 gtd or something?

That is actually the rumored deal. $19 million per, with the 1st 2 years guaranteed and a roster bonus or similar in year 3. $40 million overall.

For what he will get, it is a fair deal. Someone needs to put some reality in his head. His agents aren't doing it or he isn't listening to them.

3 years won't be guaranteed no matter what happens. The Jags tag him, so year 3 becomes a new deal. He signs now and then holds out again in year 3, getting 2 years guaranteed. Plus it is after the CBA and that will increase contracts.

Either he needs to fire his agent as they are giving him terrible advice or he is incredibly stupid and not listening to his agent and letting pride get in the way. Plus no one is playing past year 4 on a contract now

That makes it even worse that he didn't sign. I don't know who is making the decisions for him, but they need to get a reality check.

Next year he is playing on the tag or he is sitting out not getting paid. Then the CBA comes and probably a lockout. So is he ready to go 2 years without a paycheck? Just take the 2 years the Jags are offering and then holdout. He is already a Jag for the next 2 years.

Those figures don't mean anything in practical terms. All that matters in contracts is fully guaranteed money, contract structure and money guaranteed at signing.

We have none of that

An irresponsible take.

The team is practicing and playing in Baltimore.

There is zero indication the team has traded Ngakoue to Baltimore or anywhere else.

It's funny that everyone can trash our team, yet so many fanbases salivate over our players.
Yeah I really hope they lock up both Jalen and Yannick I don't even know how I can root for them anymore if they screw this up... Thats how I feel right now atleast ugh

$50 million over the 1st 2 years tells you it is guaranteed. Plus it doesn't really matter what is guaranteed, he is a Jag for 2 years with no guarantee.

What would you take? More or less money with the same or more guarantees?

I think it is irresponsible to retweet his tweets lol

I don't do Twitter much, so I am unfamiliar with various personalities.

If hot takes means pulling stuff completely out of your [BLEEP], then I guess that fits him based on this tweet.

Either way, his tweet sucks.

Yeah... not sure how he gained traction in the twitterverse...
I'm not longer on it but I remember him.

Some guys just like the attention they get in the replies and mentions from throwing wild [BLEEP] at the wall.
Dilla is just a dude with a cute baby and grill skills.

They don't tell you if it's fully guaranteed or partially guaranteed, or how much he gets at signing or what the structure is or what is built into the deal. We get none of the important figures.

I'd take a contract which paid what I was worth and gave me long term security. You have zero idea if what he was offered was fair or not.

Again it doesn't matter what the contract said. He is a Jag for $2 + 19 million for 2 seasons if he doesn't sign a deal with $0 guaranteed.

What do you not get? Even if it is still $0 guaranteed, $19 + 19 is better than 2 + 19. He can holdout in year 3 and the rumor is that the Jags even put around $500,000 in allowable fines for year 3.

The deal paid him this season and guaranteed $X in exchange for year 3. Again it doesn't matter what the terms are, he isn't leaving the Jags after this season and will never get back the $19 million.

yeah, if he plays on his rookie deal he needs a new agent
Yannick needs 18.5 sacks to be the all time sack master in Jax.

If they screw this up I’m done!

Of course it matters what the contract says?? You aren't looking at this from a players perspective in the slightest.

Focus your mind for a second and think about what an NFL players goal is for a new contract.

-Fully guaranteed money
- Long term security
- Structure to protect him through injury or ailment
- Money up front

We didn't get any of those details in the rumoured offer, none. We have no idea how long the deal was structured , no idea how much cash up front, no idea what the offsets , no idea what options were on there.  All of these are critically important.

"it doesn't matter what the terms are" thank god you aren't any players agent lol

It doesn't matter, 2+19 < 19+19. He is already a Jag for the next 2 seasons with $0 guaranteed money.

The rest of the deal isn't real, it won't be paid. Either math is hard for you or you are focusing solely on the deal in a vacuum.

But that depends on him turning up and playing. Look at Elliott at Dallas, Bell changed players mentality and how long will a team keep a player they aren't playing.

Why does it have to be like that with Yannick. We want to keep him, he wants to stay. Hopefully Marrone or Coughlin can just make a statement and clear up all the holes of facts.
