The only way he gets a quality DC in place is if Capers takes the job or Caldwell finds someone with the wink-nudge arrangement that the new guy will be the interim head coach by week 9. I'm only kind of kidding about that.

I was hoping that would be the arrangement with Jim Schwartz a few years back when he went to Philly. Sadly it didn't happen, even if he might've flamed out as the head coach.

I just stunned at how its suddenly going to change. The Oline will block, the run game suddenly works, Washs Zone magically stops everything. Its fairytales. I hope the ST sales fall through the floor.

And guys, unless we have the #1 pick next year, we arent getting Lawrence, no matter how many draft picks we throw. What GM is going to pass him up?

This team is on a knife edge. A good draft, some smart FA additions and coaching and we could be a playoff challenger, another bad draft and guys leaving and it's full blown rebuild time.

And weve doubled down on Caldwell and Marrone.  Wallbash

I don't think it was all Coughlin, but I'm pretty sure the toxic environment can be put on his back, because Marrone and Caldwell seem like player friendly guys. Marrone didn't coach differently this year, we got the same guy, so I don't think we'll get anything different next year either.

Marrone did coach differently in one key aspect....he was forced to put Foles back in. I firmly believe those rumors. Smoke and fire

I think there's truth to this. I don't think Marrone can come out and say it with Foles still on the roster.

But it does feel like Coughlin forced his hand there. We'll see. Now that everything is out there I am remaining optimistic for now.

Would be further optimistic with Wash's termination though. I really want to see a more aggressive and active approach on defense next year.

I'm just spitballing here.  There has to be a reason why we're keeping these guys, and past performance obviously isn't it.

We have a winner, not even going to read any more comments. No top tier coach would come here with a QB on that contract, nor would a GM, especially a GM.

What sane person would take a job where you are handcuffed by an $88 million backup QB? Shad's smart, just not football smart, he needs to pick a GM and hand the football car to them and butt out come the end of 2020. Chances are we are the laughing stock of the NFL again next year.

I believe that Marrone should have been let go, but I also believe he had to coach with one hand behind his back this year with the QB situation and I believe that’s where Khan was hinting towards saying he wanted to basically give them a chance with this fresh slate. Marrone may firmly believe he can win with Minshew and probably presented that in the meeting, and combine that with Caldwell holding a kings ransom in draft picks, there is a defense to be made. Not a completely convincing one mind you but it’s there
The dang statement makes it sound like everyone stays WTH

What do you expect him to say?  It will be the same dumb [BLEEP] coach speak you hear after every loss.  It's on him, he'll get it done, blah blah blah.

Are any of the TV stations covering the press conference?

I just wish he would come out wearing a wife beater with huge mustard stains holding a half eaten bologna sandwich.  Kinda fits.

What time is the press conference today? I'm looking for more ways to get depressed.
