I prefer the "We shouldn't kick a man when he's down" joke.

oh dang

He has experience as HC (interim). He has knowledge of at least half the roster. He's unemployed too the day the season ends. It'll be ok.

This is what people aren't seeing. We look like BIGGER clowns for allowing the media to fire a guy they don't like.

The media was trying to bully and clown Jacksonville and we just submitted to the bully! Life experience should tell you it's only going to get worst when you try to appease a bully.
No matter how many times you say this, it's simply not true.

Keep capping for Urban though! It's a great look......

Lol. How is that guy not dead?
(12-16-2021, 03:03 AM)Jag88 Wrote: [ -> ]Am I wrong for thinking, you want to put pressure on your employees to get the job done?

If you struggle with calculus, it's cool for dad to slap you upside the head and call you a moron after getting a D on a test? That gonna convince you to get better, or is it just gonna make you think your dad's an [BLEEP]?

If you miss a deadline at work, it's cool for the boss to throw a stapler at your face and call you a dunderpate? I'm sure that will get results out of you, or your coworkers, for that matter.

This just in. The shield is a performance-based business with very few openings available. Lambo knew what his job was. Lambo knew that if he missed kicks, there was risk of him not only losing his job, but also not being able to find another. He doesn't need his coach to abuse him or call him a [BLEEP] to make those facts known or to motivate him to improve. Heck if anything, kicking a kicker in the leg while stretching might be the worst thing you could do to improve results. It would be like kicking JRob in the foot and telling him to walk it off after he got hurt in Seattle.

I won't say the expectation is wrong. The way to communicate that expectation, though? pants-on-head, unbelievably wrong.

Most of the Jaguars Assistant Coaches, and Players are going feel like a 20-ton elephant has been lifted from their back when they come to practice later today.

They can stretch without fear!   Big Grin
This was the best news I've heard since the Jets lost the number 1 pick! I give Shad Khan credit for basically admitting his mistake. He needs to listen to different people before picking Meyer's successor as well as a new G.M. Hope is alive!

Dude. They are going to crush the Texans. Just watch.

This is a bow to catty political gossip.  We have people actually sticking up for The receivers who can't get open, the RB who put the ball on the ground, and the worst offensive staff this team has ever seen.  But that's okay.  We all know that the key to winning in the arena of human combat is sitting around drinking hot coco, brading each other's hair while we talk about our feelings.  I think that Beval will start interlacing the View during film study.

This is the second Coach fired this year for "toxic masculinity"

Of all the takes out there, this is certainly one of them.

Hey, Saints fan living in FL panhandle here who's been following this board lately for the Meyer stuff.

No one's viewing the Jags as a laughingstock for firing him.. maybe for hiring him but not firing him now after him being such an obvious disaster.

It's all kind of made the Jags a sort of endearing story to me though in having survived Meyer's Reign of Terror here lol so I think I may have found my AFC team (also doesn't hurt that I get most Jags games on local CBS affiliate).

Welcome brother!

Hopefully Jags can take Sean Payton off your hands.

That would be dumb.  You want to keep losing at this point to get a higher draft pick.

Huh? No he didn't.... coaching salary doesnt impact the teams cap.

You think Meyers contract is a hit for a billionaire like Khan? LOL!!!

so if you have a billion or several, flushing 8 figures down the terlet is still something that isn't going to upset you?

my hairy butt.

billionaires get where they are because they don't make a habit of tossing percentages of their wealth no matter how small into the shredder.

I don't disagree but teams have a way of overachieving after firing their HC. Especially one that no one liked.

I think the Raiders played well after Gruden left.

Baalke was Urbz's hire, so I'd hope we sever all ties during the offseason.
Now, if they could just teach the receivers to NOT RUN INTO EACH OTHER, that would good, mmmkk...

I was waiting for an outlet to report it. This makes it official. Now, who takes over?
Wait. I thought he was going to be here next year?

Most realists absolutely thought he would be. Most realists didn't expect the poo to continue being fired into the fan, though.

Urbz dug his own grave on this one.
Bevell on Sunday: "What is this play?"
Assistant coach: "The play you called."
Bevell: "Whoa, it looks, like, totally different from down here."

You'd probably get to see some offense if you had him paired with Trevor Lawrence.

But then I'd probably have to watch the Saints sink back to the bottom of the league..
(12-16-2021, 08:10 AM)Mandeezee Wrote: [ -> ]Not sure I like this move. It places the team in the light of a team who caves to rumors, nationwide jokes, and overall just the stepchildren of the NFL.

But as a FAN I'll support Shad's call.

Which is what some of you half fans should've done with the Meyer situation. As a city we should've circled around the team and coach and told the rest of the league to mind their freaking business and we won't be bullied.

It now appears that as a city and team we can be bullied into managing the team how commentators and talking heads want.

I doubt Shad was acting solely on the howling of the wolves on this forum or in the media.

If reports are true that Lambo complained previously, and this is the first time it made it to Shad's desk, well, Urbz has a lotta 'splainin to do. Given that Shad's statement explicitly stated that trust and respect were not developed since the chophouse, and since then repeated reports of strife, mismanagement and unpreparedness combined with the poor showings on the field, there was plenty of actual factual evidence for Shad to act upon.

I refuse to circle around a coach who tried to bring a racist bully (allegedly) onto the staff while that person was still working through the legal matters that led to their unemployment in the first place. I refuse to circle around a coach who refuses to learn who his players are, or when they are on the field. I refuse to circle around a coach who throws everyone around him under the bus in every public setting, whether or not the fault is theirs to bear. He should have been circling around his coaches and players, and never did.

The franchise had a blacker eye in tolerating his baloney as long as we did than any ugliness over letting him go so early in his tenure.

Correct.

They also need to realize when the money has already been flushed. Sometimes it is better to lose an initial investment that is performing poorly instead of putting more money or time into it. This concept is called a sunk cost. Urban most definitely falls in this category.
